The Capiz Mountaineers is proudly happy to announce that it provided internet access to the indigenous community of Brgy Maliao, Tapaz with Satellite Starlink public wiffi.
It also has multiple 24hrs/7 CCTV Security cameras installed around the entry and exit points of the isolated Upland Indigenous Barangay.

We hope it will help to preserve, promote and connect to the realm of living cultural traditions of remote members Panay Bukidnon Indigenous Community of Brgy Maliao as they continue to teach, preserve, share their beautiful culture & arts to the next generation.

ANG 1896 REBULUSYON SA CAPIZ ANG UNANG REBULUSYON SA VISAYAS NA SYANG NAGLAGAY NG ISANG BITUIIN NG ISLA NG PANAY SA BANDILA NG FILIPINAS

Kung merong 19 Martyrs ang Kalibo, Aklan, meron namang 150 Martyrs ang Brgy Tanza, Panay, Capiz noong 1898.

Dalawang Lider ng Lokal na Katipunan at Isang rebulusyunaryo ang sa Capiz:

-Macario Lukso ng Tapaz,(Katipunan)
-General Juan Arce ng Sigma(Katipunan)
-General Esteban D. Contreras ng Pontevedra(Rebulusyunaryo sa ilalim ni Gen Aguinaldo)

Si Macario Lukso ang nag organisa ng lokal ng Katipunan sa Tapaz at Jamindan. Karamihan sa mga kasapi nya nito ay mula sa bayan ng Jamindan. Papa Macario at si Alapaap ang tawag sa kanya ng mga Katipunerong Jamindangon. Ang mga kasapi nyang mga Katipunero na galing sa Jamindan nuong 1896 ang tumulong sa pwersa sa Panay, Pontevedra at Pilar.

Si General Juan Arce ng Sigma. Nagtatag ng Katipunan sa Sigma, Dumarao, Cuartero, at Ivisan. Ang kanyang mga kasapi ang nagdala ng pwersa sa Pilar, Capiz upang tulungan si General Esteban Contreras sa p**i pag laban sa Kastila.

Si General Esteban Contreras ng Roxas City. Ang bukod tangi na hinde kasapi ng Katipunan, kundi sa ilalim ng Rebolusyong Pamahalaan ni Gen Aguinaldo. Galing sa mayamang pamilya. Naging mabilis sa kanya ang pag organisa ng mga Rebolusyanaryo sa Capiz (dating Roxas City), Panay, Pontevedra, Maayon at Panitan.

Sa battle of Tanza Norte, Panay ng Apr 15, 1898. Nagkaroon ng unang malakihang mobilasasyon ng pwersang rebulusyunaryo na umabot sa 15,000 na tropa nito, ngunit sa kakulangan ng kagamitan, natalo sila sa unang digmaan sa mga Kastila, 150 sa hanay ng mga rebulusyunaryo ang namatay.

Sa Battle of Balisong ng Kapulugan Hill ng Pilar, Capiz noong June 7, 1898 dito nakabawi ang pinagsamang pwersa nila ni General Esteban Contreras, General Juan Arce at Macario Lukso. Tuluyang natalo ang pwersa ng mga Kastila at naging malaya ang kabuuang Capiz kasama ang Aklan. Namatay si General Juan Arce dahil sa sugat ng bala nitong natamo. Si Macario Lukso ay namatay sa pagtataga ng itak nang kanyang kababayan sa kanyang pag uwi sa San Nicolas, Tapaz.

Ang pagkapanalo ng mga Katipunero at rebulusyunaryong Capiznon ay kinilala ng Malolos Congress ni General Emilio Aguinaldo na naglagay sa Isla ng Panay na isa sa tatlong bituin sa bandilang Pilipinas bilang pangunahing nag alsa sa mga Isla ng Visayas.

As a dreamweaver, she has artistically expressed Tโ€™boli cosmology, human relationships, and reverence to natural surroundings through more than 90 patterns in her weaving while incorporating the use of dyes derived from nature.

We are this May as we celebrate National Heritage Month!

โ€œChampioning Heritage: Capacity Building to Transform Communities,โ€ the National Heritage Month (NHM) 2024 official theme honors the labors of our cultural workers and advocates who have been striving to connect with various indigenous people (IP) communities and help them boost their ingenuity and creativity to the mainstream media. With the help of the government, especially led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), various laws have been institutionalized to further safeguard our cultural heritage. Aside from that, the NCCA also intends to provide various capacity building activities and other tools such as (1) cultural mapping, and (2) the maintenance of the Philippine Registry of Heritage (PREH) that shall be kept accessible to every Filipino, with the general objective to identify, to protect, and to immortalize our ancestral history and identity.
