Congratulations, Katinig Commissioner Alexander D. Dumpa! ♥️

Part of knowing our dearest brother Commissioner Alexander D. Dumpa is also learning that we should not hold ourselves back and always know that we are capable of anything we set our mind to. He is not only a dreamer but also a doer. His perseverance and the amount of love and passion he pours to whatever he does are what inspire us. He has achieved so many but his humility has been instrumental in his success. It is a quality of him that deserves, in itself, a celebration.

To brother Commissioner Alexander, we know it’s been a long hard road but you amazingly survived. Congratulations and cheers to you for a job well done. We know that this is only the beginning towards more and greater successes and we will always be behind you.

CONGRATULATIONS, brother Commissioner Alexander D. Dumpa. We are proud of you!

Alhamdulillah!

May Allah accept it from every single individual who didn't fail to extend their kindness and generousity for the morits from the three madrasahs in Bubong, Lanao del Sur! The smiles in the faces of the morits are immeasurable! 😊 Pakambarakatun rkano o Allah go mambagiyan iyo so balas iyan. 🙂

First things first, panalamatan ami so langowan a minisalinggogopa a gya a Mujtahida sii ko kinithomanen ko partial launching/debut ami through this program. 😊 Shukran and Jazakumullahu Khayran to our collab organisations---YMSA, VOTY, SOLSS, & IYOG. ✨ It was an amazing opportunity to work with you, Ma Sha Allah.

Indeed, this program aims to *rekindle* the hopes of the Muslim youth, to make them believe in themselves and instill their dainty aspirations for better future. With the Ogop ko Bangsa Project, we targeted the madrasahs who suffered from the past Typhoon Odette in hopes that we might help in alleviating them after the flood washes away their basic classroom needs.

The notebooks and pencils and the rest of the supplies won't last forever, perhaps it will be waved again, but providing the morits with these basic learning needs after every wave coming will help in maitaining their foundation strong for a long term. This will inspire them and help them in making them understand the value of seeking knowledge (no matter how high the waves that's coming), thus making them resilient seekers of knowledge.

Kudos to everyone who made this happen.

What a good way to end 2021.

Jazakumullahu khayran fid Dunya wal Akhirah. 💖

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah

“So verily, with hardship, there is relief.” Qur’an 94:5

Indeed, one of the wisdom behind every calamity is to let everyone appreciate the beauty of compassion, and helping those who are in need. With the existing pandemic which was severed by the recent typhoon Odette, our brothers and sisters in Bubong was greatly affected with floods.

Apart from the families and their houses, the madrasahs that shelter young knowledge-seekers who are future ‘aleems and ‘aleemahs of the Ummah were also affected. The flood swept away most their classroom essentials and supplies.

Therefore, the Voice of the Youth-Lanao (VOTY), in collaboration with MUJTAHIDA, Young Muslim Scientist Association (YMSA), Mindanao State University – Inspired Young Optimists Guild (MSU-IYOG), Society of Life Sciences Students (SOLSS) of the Biology Department, we invite you to be part of our humble efforts (through this DONATION CAMPAIGN) to help them restore their classrooms so that these future 'aleems and' aleemahs may resume to their lively knowledge-seeking classes.

Help us make this Project successful. We are knocking on your compassionate hearts, asking for support in any form; monetary or in-kind donations such as:

🔹Cleaning materials (trashcans, mops, dustpans, or any other kinds);

🔹School supplies for morits (books, notebooks, pens, erasers, or any other kinds);

🔹Classroom materials (chairs, chalk and erasers, blackboards, whiteboards, board markers, or any other kinds);

🔹Mus’haf (Qur’an) and prayer mats;

🔹 Hygiene kits (soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, or any other kinds);

🔹Groceries;

🔹Clean preloved or new clothes (kimon, abaya, hijabs, or any other kinds); and

🔹 Others.

We believe in your power to be part of these little knowledge-seekers' success. Kindly, send your donation through the following:

OGOP KO BANGSA: Rekindling the Aspirations of Young Muslims

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh!

Bubong, Lanao del Sur, which is home to several Madrasahs, fell victim to the rampage of Super Typhoon Odette. It was flooded; the water was at a one-story-house level, washing away learning materials and the aspirations of the Morits all the same. Subhanallah.

In light of this, The Young Muslim Scientists Association (YMSA), in partnership with Inspired Young Optimists Guild (MSU-IYOG), Society of Life Sciences Students (SOLSS) of the Biology Department, (VOTY) Voice of the Youth-Lanao, and MUJTAHIDA, has initiated a DONATION CAMPAIGN to help alleviate the dreamers' sufferings and assist them to rise again. And we need you to do this. We are knocking on your compassionate hearts, asking for support in any form; monetary or in-kind donations such as:

• Cleaning materials (trashcans, mops, dustpans, or any other kinds);
• School supplies for morits (books, notebooks, pens, erasers, or any other kinds);

For in-kind donations, you can drop them at SOLSS Office, Biology Department, CNSM, MSU-Marawi, or contact 0905 217 3935 (Abdurrafie T. Abdullah).

Today’s outstanding youth is CEO and founder of Institute of VolunTeens and one of the National Outstanding Awardees at Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, 𝑨𝒄𝒔𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒔𝒈𝒂𝒓.

Our outstanding youth advocates for peace, community engagement, and education. Despite the feeling of wanting to advocate for everything there is, our outstanding youth believes that 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨. By visiting his beneficiaries and scouting for volunteers, Acsan gathers information about the needs of the community then conducts a donation drive. By doing this, this assures the community that their concerns will be addressed properly and effectively. This is something very important that most donation drives tend to look over, doing research. Doing research pays off because it assures you that every peso in the donation drive is going towards someone’s needs.

Despite the setbacks and challenges of being misjudged, our outstanding youth pushed through all the negativity because this truly what he wants to do and what burns his passion. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤.

DEPED TV MOVES FORWARD, GETS BOOST FROM MULTI-AWARDED BROADCAST JOURNALISTS

Jessica Soho, Korina Sanchez, Karen Davila, Arnold Clavio, Kim Atienza -- To say that DepEd’s trainer lineup for teacher-broadcasters is star-studded is an understatement.

And with no less than Senior Trainer and Advisor Luchi Cruz-Valdes at the helm together with decorated anchor-host Paolo Bediones as Lead Trainer, the Department of Education’s (DepEd) foray into educational TV is set for a great start.

“Education is everyone’s business, we are so pleased, and we are so touched with the degree of cooperation, assistance, and advice which we have been getting and which we are considering very, very seriously,” said Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones.

“We are very fortunate to have the decades of combined broadcast and hosting experience of multi-awarded broadcast journalists, and television and radio personalities from the country’s biggest networks GMA7, ABS-CBN and TV5 to guide our Teacher-Broadcasters for DepEd TV,” said Undersecretary Alain Pascua.

Other notable personalities who will participate in the training include Kara David, Sandra Aguinaldo, Abner Mercado, Atom Araullo, Jacque Manabat, and MJ Marfori. They are also joined by grooming coach Issa Litton, voice master Pocholo Gonzales, and educational content creator and motivational speaker Lyqa Maravilla.

DepEd’s Teacher-Broadcaster Training Program will help equip and empower its select Teacher-Broadcaster candidates to be effective presenters on television, and also allow them to deeply understand the elements of video production by allowing them to discover the roles of Associate Producer, Videographer, Editor, Graphic Artist, and Production Coordinator throughout the program.

Undersecretary Pascua said that the training of teacher-broadcasters started with sessions at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and Los Banos which have been arranged by the Curriculum and Instruction strand of Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio, particularly thru Director Leila Arreola of the Bureau of Learning Delivery.

Thru the support of the Presidential Communications Operations Office led by Secretary Martin Andanar, the training workshops with Bediones and Cruz-Valdes were made possible.

In addition to the training, DepEd is also planning to build broadcast-ready studios nationwide to cover all Division Offices. Currently, 16 areas are already preparing for this, including Ilocos Norte, Lanao del Norte, Pangasinan, Zamboanga, Palawan, and Davao.

Carlo Palma, a teacher from Pangasinan, was ecstatic, saying “I have always dreamed of becoming a broadcaster.”

46-year old Teacher Mary Antonette Magtanong, is equally happy and surprised at the opportunity. “I never imagined that at my age, I will still be able to reach my dream,” Teacher Mary said.

Information and Communications Technology Service Director Abram Abanil said that by October 5, the target is to be able to produce 130 episodes per week. These 130 episodes cover only the major subject areas under the most essential learning competencies.

DepEd is set to have its final test broadcast on September 21 to 25, 2020 via IBC-13 and other partner networks, not only to test all technical matters, but also to evaluate the final contents, designs, themes, templates and all other matters that will make DepEd TV successful and interesting.

“We are now finalizing our partnerships with Cignal, GSAT, Sky Cable, Gracia Telecoms and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Streamtech and Planet Cable, Solar, Mabuhay Pilipinas, the Philippine cable and Telecommunications Association (PCTA), and GMA7. We hope to have the signing of agreements by next week,” Pascua said.

Undersecretary Pascua stressed that apart from the other available learning modes, he understands the importance of DepEd TV in helping reach more learners and reiterated the importance of the support of the National Government and external partners in the success of the program.

“We are potentially looking at the future of education here. Apart from online learning, which we are pursuing through DepEd Commons, television and radio continue to be very effective channels for instruction and education, hence the DepEd TV and DepEd Radio,” Pascua added.
