𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

The 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 and 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 of 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, held on 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, brought the three-day training to a close with a full program on ethics, final revisions, and a presentation showcase of the participants’ AI-assisted film trailers.

Discussions throughout the workshop continuously underscored the importance of creative responsibility when using AI tools, reinforcing the need to balance innovation with thoughtful storytelling.

Teams were then given time to polish their trailers with support from mentor Gavin Lim and the facilitators. This final session was focused on refining their works' pacing, visuals, audio, and narrative structure.

Participants screened their trailers during the presentation showcase, where they received peer and mentor feedback. The session culminated in closing messages from the facilitators, mentor Gavin Lim, and a representative from the Department of Science and Technology.

Among the ten finalist teams in the workshop were four from West Visayas State University, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗖𝗠𝗗, and 𝗟𝗶𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗔. who showcased their talents alongside other student filmmakers from across the region.

Although the SineAI Workshop has officially concluded, participants will still have time to finalize their short films before the public screening and judging this August 11-13, part of the culminating events of AI Fest 2025. Selected entries will be recognized and awarded for their storytelling, creativity, and use of AI tools in film.

The event was full of creativity, collaboration, and meaningful experimentation. Over the course of three days, the SineAI Workshop not only equipped participants with new skills, but also invited them to rethink how technology can shape the future of storytelling.

𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘:

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀: 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

Day two of the SineAI workshop shifted the spotlight to storytelling and using Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the main tool. Today's activity consists of the production of each team's trailers, creating scripts and transforming them into visual narratives using various AI tools, with the mentorship of Gavin Lim.

The workshop taught the participants how AI can help generate stories, from creating the synopsis, the description of their characters, to the entire plots using well-structured prompts.

Lim introduced the steps on maintaining character consistency through text-to-image tools, managing atmosphere and lighting, and aligning the visuals with their chosen genre.

Each team showcased their progress by presenting their trailers and early concepts, slowly producing their films.

Jonathan Jurilla and Emmanuel Lerona, facilitators of SineAI, both shared their insights after each team's presentation. They commended all teams and reminded them that although AI is useful, they should always remember its limitations.

"This is not only about visual effects and video generation, this is filmmaking, where the character and the story come first," emphasized Jurilla.

"It’s important to understand what to show, We want to be clarified on where you want your story to go" Lerona said.

In the afternoon session, a hands-on demo by Lim showcased video editing using various video editing software like CapCut and DaVinci Resolve for their productions.

At the end of the day, each team was asked to present their fully refurbished trailers. Their output for today's workshop shows that AI can be a tool and assistant in storytelling and filmmaking.

The top ten student filmmaking teams of 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, including four from West Visayas State University (WVSU) - College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT), began their participation in the 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 today, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟲, at the 𝗪𝗩𝗦𝗨 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.

SineAI Workshop is a three-day training pre-event of SineAI, one of the contests under AI Fest 2025, carrying the theme "Remembering Filipino Values, Celebrating Traditions".

Led by 𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗺, an award-winning film and media industry professional from Singapore and the CEO of Void Deck Films, the workshop provides hands-on sessions on the optimal use of artificial intelligence tools in the art of filmmaking.

Day 1 focused on creative foundations, with engaging lessons and activities on AI in storytelling, AI-powered ideation, and AI scriptwriting. In a welcome message delivered by CICT Dean 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻 on his behalf, WVSU President 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘂𝘇 emphasized the irreplaceable role of imagination even in tech-driven creative work:

A message was also delivered by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI, while 𝗞𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗼, Assistant Regional Director, discussed the rationale and objectives behind the event.

The four qualified teams from WVSU-CICT are 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗖𝗠𝗗, and 𝗟𝗶𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗔. Their film outputs will be publicly screened from August 11 to 13, with winning entries to be announced during the AI Fest 2025 Closing Ceremonies.

Student filmmaker teams from across Western Visayas who qualified for the top ten of 𝗔𝗜 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱’𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 are currently gathered at the 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 - 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 for the first day of the 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗔𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, a three-day training event led by award-winning Singaporean filmmaker 𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗺.

Four teams from West Visayas State University – College of Information and Communications Technology (WVSU-CICT) have officially qualified for the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗔𝗜 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻. Representing the university are 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝘀, and 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Out of numerous applicants, only ten teams nationwide were selected based on the strength of their proposals. These top teams will now advance to the hackathon proper, where they will design, develop, and present artificial intelligence solutions to real-world challenges.

The competition will be held at Iloilo Science and Technology University on August 11 to 13, 2025. It includes three preparatory workshops and seminar sessions leading up to the main event.

The AI Hackathon is a national competition aimed at showcasing students’ skills in creating innovative AI applications. Participants will have the opportunity to receive mentorship from top AI professionals, gain exposure to career and internship opportunities, and compete for cash prizes.
