𝗖𝗢𝗣 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆

In a historic event, pre-service teachers from the College of PESCAR (COP) celebrated their first-ever Teaching Internship Pinning and Completion Rites at the West Visayas State University (WVSU) Cultural Center on January 30, 2024.

Dr. Ma. Asuncion Christine Dequilla, the esteemed Vice President for Academic Affairs at WVSU, graced the ceremony. In her address, she emphasized the pivotal role of teaching internships in shaping future educators, providing practical experience in understanding the dynamics of teaching.

"To the teachers present, you are about to embark on a journey into a teaching profession, and I want to extend my warmest congratulations,” said Dr. Dequilla as she imparted words of wisdom.

The pinning ceremony proper, initiated by COP faculty led by Dean Dr. Christopher T. Jaspe, Experiential Learning Coordinator Prof. Ma. Nennite T. Bajador, and Chairperson of the Department of PE, Sports, and Recreation Prof. Noel P. Mondejar, officially pinned the students with the presence of their respective parents.

The whole ceremony was ushered by Prof. Ryan L. Puljanan, adviser BCAEd 4-A; Prof. Weena M. Paclibar, adviser BPEd 4-A ; and Prof. Hennel Rhee S. Funtecha, adviser BPEd 4-B.

In his closing remarks, COP Dean Dr. Christopher T. Jaspe shared empowering words with the future educators, encouraging them to acknowledge obstacles as opportunities for growth.

"Acknowledge the importance of obstacles as they are viewed as opportunities for growth; life is a marathon, not a sprint. The ability to persevere in the face of adversity," he stressed.

The pinning ceremony, a collaborative effort with the College of Education, marked a significant milestone for COP pre-service teachers, symbolizing their dedication and readiness to embark on their teaching profession journey.

𝗚𝗿𝘂𝗽𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In the surge of the final day of the University Days 2024, Grupo Del Oeste proudly represented the West Visayas State University (WVSU) in DINAGYANG 2024 ILOmination as a non-competing group, January 26.

At the leading-edge of the parade, Grupo Del Oeste sizzled and illuminated the streets from the avenue of Pasencia T. Pison down to Megaworld Boulevard in front of Richmond Hotel with their spirited Samba grooves.

In a sustained vim and vigor, Grupo Del Oeste performed their Paraw sa Regatta Samba dance in the exhibition area at Benigno Aquino Avenue in front of SM City Iloilo.

Adding touch of vibrant rhythm, the WVSU Band rendered a mettlesome percussion beat which was orchestrated by Prof. Rus Will Ledesma.

The said participation was spearheaded by the University Dance and Cultural Affairs office through the directorship of Prof. Liberty Porras. Further, the College of PESCAR (COP) and Irong-Irong Dance Company took part in success of Grupo Del Oeste’s impressive performance.

The ILOmination 2024 parade as well featured dazzling floats from prominent companies and tribes competing from various areas of Iloilo City.

Aligning with the Dinagyang 2024 theme, "Pagdayaw kay Señor Sto. Nino, Padayaw sang mga Ilonggo!", Grupo del Oeste is set to captivate the streets of Iloilo City Proper once again on January 28.

𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 || Clamoring for dominance and triumph, College of PESCAR hailed as the overall champion of the WVSU University Days 2024, January 26.

The Talent Center of the University has once again brandished their claws as they have defended their title, garnering 400 points, and bagged the gold medal securing a back-to-back championship.

As tigers have awakened from their slumber, they have once again proven their ferocity and tenacity.

Basta PESCAR, ArISGAR!

As the unofficial results poured in, it became evident that the College of PESCAR is a force to be reckoned with, claiming as victors in various events.

Hubon Manughabul sparkled the stage during their performance of "& Juliet the musical" in the Lipsync competition.

Expressive gestures and facial expressions draw the audience deeper into the performance, capturing the essence of the song.

As their lips move in perfect synchronization with the lyrics with precision, they also kept the hype alive with their spectacular choreography, altogether giving off a splendid performance.

In a majestic display of cultural prowess and artistic finesse, the PESCARian representatives have once again captivated audiences with their remarkable performance of Jota de Manila in the Folk Dance competition which reflects the essence of our rich culture and history as the crowd's cheers filled the WVSU Cultural Center.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 | 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Hubon Manughabul gave off a splendid performance, satisfying the audience with vibrant and colorful visuals complementing their graceful and sophisticated movements.

Each flicker and wave enhanced the emotional resonance of the performance, enveloping the audience in a kaleidoscope of sensory delight.

Setting the floor ablaze, Hubon Manughabol showcased an electrifying performance as their energy resonated with the WVSU Cultural Center.

𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗢𝗥𝗬

Hubon Manughabol, a group of singers and guitarists hailing from the College of PESCAR, graced the stage during the Musical Category at the College of Medicine Gym on January 25, illuminating the third day of the WVSU University Days Celebration.

Anne Marielle Lobingco, from Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) 3-A, skillfully strummed her guitar with passion in the Instrumental Solo, performing her OPM piece "SARUNG BANGGI" by P. Gregorio Sr. and arranged by Jose Valdez.

Additionally, Pearl Joyce Secondes of BCAED 3-A exhibited the art of singing during the vocal solo, showcasing a classical piece as she sang "Ang Mutya ng Pasig" by Nicanor Abelardo.

In line with the said event, Kylla Lambonao of BCAED 3-A, with her chosen song "Muling Buksan ang Puso" by Basil Valdez, chimed a harmonious melody during the Vocal Solo-Pop.

Alongside other participants, Homer Sigaya and Anne Marielle Lobingco of BCAED 3-A captivated the stage as the duo sang "Sana maulit muli" during the Vocal Duet - Pop.

As the curtain falls on this year's musical category, the brilliance of the College of PESCAR's talent and passion continues to resonate, leaving an enduring melody in the hearts of every PESCARIAN.

𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗢 𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚

In a vocal battle echoing through MC1 and the TV lab of the College of Communication, the College of PESCAR (COP) delegates delivered an enthralling storyline during the Radio Drama and News Casting Category.

With the said event, John Dean Rogales, Sybelle Cloma, Jessa Jean Hervas, Levy Fernandez, and James Zandro Pueyo from BCAED 4-A rocked the Radio Drama with their piece "Lisua ang Makasasala," which signifies family and mother's love.

Additionally, BCAED 3-A student, Miles Dave Naciongayo, delivered his news casting with precision, highlighting the issues on local, national, and international news in three categories: Hiligaynon, Filipino, and English.

𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗭𝗕𝗢𝗪𝗟

On the other hand, excitement and a pulsating atmosphere were felt at the New Academic Building Function Hall during the Quizbowl Category.

Along with other Hubons, Rogie Ken Villarin of Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) 1-B, Mark Keanu Rho Tosino of BSESS 2-A, Noveilyn Joy Herrera of BPED 4-B, and Rexzon Valenzuela from BPED 4-A represented the college and showcased cleverness in answering questions.

The said contest comprised six categories, specifically Science, Mathematics, Literary, Social Science, Filipino, and Hiligaynon, with a total of four rounds—Beginner, Intermediate, Difficult, and Advanced.

𝗘𝗟𝗢𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗬. Mastering the art of conveying stories and narratives, College of PESCAR (COP) entranced the venue with their words of action during the Filipino Category, Day 2 of WVSU University Days, January 24, 2024.

With the said event, Chrisjan Buenafe of Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BACEd) 4-A, with his piece "Bungang Tinitingala" exuded words of wisdom in Talumpati, which mirrors the traces of the root and origin of every outstanding student.

"Maglatag ng sapat na programa" as he highlighted his speech with precision, Archie Vald Dayaday, a BCAEd 4-A student represented the COP in Dagliang Talumpati and enlightened the listeners with his imposing speech of PISA 2022 data which shows that Philippines lagged in science, reading and mathematics.

Additionally, Jann Carmel Matchan of Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPeA) 4-A, exhibited intricate arts of impersonation in Deklamasyon sa Filipino as she portrays her piece “Daan Patungo sa Kanto”, which entails story of an aspiring woman vlogger who’s rich-pretentious.

On the other hand, Darylle Jane Sison of BCAEd 1-A crafted stories that whispers the wonders in Pagkukuwento.

In the Storytelling Category, Renien Mae Barniezo, a BCAEd 1-A student, reverberated her stories that compel the listeners' minds.

As the Declamation contest initiated, Christine Joy Daanoy, a Bachelor of Physical Education 4-B, captivated the stage with her mind blowing versatility and imposing aura.

Meanwhile, COP participants originally wrote their piece “A-A-TI-TA-TA-YO”, and displayed harmonious speechcraft in Madulang Sabayang Pagbigkas.

The patterns of productivity being showcased by PESCARIANS have unveiled definitions that fortify the magnitude of the College of PESCAR.

𝗦𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗣𝗜𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗘𝗦. Bearing the PESCARIAN zeal with brilliance and sophistication, College of PESCAR candidates sketched the venue exquisitely during the Visual Arts Category.

Fredirick John Banting, a Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) 4-A, unleashed canvas of pixels in the Digital Art Painting inspired by the theme “Echoes of Tradition: Harvesting Excellence then, now, and in the future for WVSU"

Additionally, Mike Deniel Rebusa of the BCAEd 2-A, with a theme “Reaping Wisdom, Talent, and Skill as we Sow WVSU’s Heritage and Progress”, painted hues with creativity during the On-the-Spot Poster Making.

Similarly, Lynden John Tajolosa, BCAEd 3-A, drew shadow chronicles in the Charcoal and Pencil Drawing in reference to an outstanding farmer in Iloilo.

As Traditional Painting kicked off, Keziah Jane Balinas, BCAEd 3-A, artfully stroked visuals of the past.

Meanwhile, empowering prose, poetry, and speeches resonated with the four corners as COP personas captivated the hearts of many during the English Category.

Wyn Chryster Magpatoc, Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) 1-A, exuded echoes of productivity in his Extemporaneous Speaking answering the question “What do you think WVSU and WVSU students can do to promote local Filipino culture and heritage?”

Claiming the aura of an oratory alchemist, Zoe Altarejos, a BCAEd 3-A, is the COP representative in "Oration".

Edgar Caballero, BCAEd 4-A, performed masterfully with conviction and resolution in "Binalaybay".

On the other hand, Leopoldo Ga of the BCAEd 4-A, emanated competence in his competition, "Suguidanon".

Furthermore, as "Character Impersonation" took place in the Cultural Center, Thea Anne Mendoza, a BCAEd 1-A, enthralled the stage with her chameleonic performance as she portrayed the infamous Ursula, the villain in Disney movie, The Little Mermaid.

Moreover, with the title "Pagtahi sang Damgo" several COP participants of the "Short and Sweet Play" acted in a scene of sugars-capes securing a resounding applause.

Categories of Day 2, WVSU University Days, kicked off today, in different venues such as the Library, Cultural Center, and Quezon Hall.

𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧. Kicking off the Pre-pageant and Talent's Night with a revved up confidence and sultriness, College of PESCAR bets, Marnie Grace Miranda and Hart Laurenz Amar, along with other 15 pairs, flaunted in slick black suits on January 23, 2024 at WVSU Cultural Center.

Subsequently, Amar and Miranda rendered a diverse array of performances encompassing indigenous and K-pop dance and playing instruments, specifically, Violin and Keyboard, which highlighted their affiliation as University's Talent Center.

In the last segment, both graced the stage in the casual wear, adorned in radiant yellow dress and jacket following a Hablon theme.

The talent category constitutes 25% of the overall scoring for Mr. and Ms. WVSU 2024.

𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗦. Narrative comes to life as the Hubon Manughubol writers of the College of PESCAR, scribbled stories of passion during the Literary Category, at the Library, January 23, 2024.

Along with other participants from various colleges were James Zandro Pueyo of Bachelor of Culture and Arts (BCAEd) 4-A and Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPeA) 4-A, Kate Principe penned down their thoughts and ideas in "Pagsusulat ng Sanaysay" and "Pagsusulat ng Tula", respectively, at the first floor of the said building.

Meanwhile, Junica Marie Faelangca of BPEA 4-A in "Poetry Writing" and Dennis John Canja of BCAEd 3-A in "Essay Writing" on the second floor.

Today marks the second half of PAMUGON 2024 first day.

Hart Laurenz Amar and Marnie Grace Miranda are poised to unveil more finesse tonight at Talent's Night, which kicks off at 6:00 pm at the WVSU Cultural Center.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 || Embracing this year's theme 𝘗𝘈𝘎𝘗𝘈𝘔𝘜𝘎𝘖𝘕 𝘚𝘈𝘕𝘎 𝘒𝘐𝘕𝘈𝘈𝘋𝘔𝘈𝘕: 𝘗𝘈𝘎𝘉𝘈𝘓𝘐𝘒 𝘚𝘈 𝘎𝘐𝘕𝘏𝘈𝘓𝘐𝘕𝘈𝘕, 𝘗𝘈𝘋𝘜𝘓𝘖𝘕𝘎 𝘚𝘈 𝘔𝘈𝘐𝘕𝘜𝘚𝘞𝘈𝘎𝘖𝘕 𝘒𝘈𝘎 𝘔𝘈𝘗𝘈𝘎-𝘖𝘕 𝘕𝘎𝘈 𝘞𝘝𝘚𝘜" the College of PESCAR, as the 𝗛𝘂𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗯ú𝗹, splash an energetic street dance with a lively hablon theme during the 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘂𝗯𝗼𝗻, marking the commencement of PAMUGON 2024 , the West Visayas State University Days.

Under the scorching sun, the said parade kicked off at Iloilo Sports Complex and concluded at WVSU Grandstand.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 || Beaming with confidence in a modern Barong and Filipiniana, the College of PESCAR candidates for Mr. and Ms. WVSU 2024, Hart Laurenz Amar and Marnie Grace Miranda, made an entrance as they competed to attest their wits and eloquence in a closed-door interview, today, January 22.

Amar and Miranda together with 14 other pairs from various colleges and external campuses all dressed up to the nines to further impress the judges at Research and Extension Building II where the said competition was held.

The closed-door interview aims to provide judges with a more in-depth understanding of each contestant beyond their physical appearance on stage.

This pre-pageant event will help determine which finalists will have the chance to advance in the competition and have the opportunity to be crowned Mr. and Ms. WVSU 2024 on January 25.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 || College of PESCAR candidates made their first appearance during Mr. and Ms. WVSU 2024 - Sashing, Designer's Collection Runway Show, and Press Presentation held at Robinsons Place Iloilo, January 18.

The dynamic pair, Hart Laurenz Amar and Marnie Grace Miranda, together with other 14 pairs from other colleges and external campuses, received their sashes spearheaded by the esteemed College of PESCAR Dean, Dr. Christopher Jaspe, and the highly regarded University Dance and Cultural Affairs Director, Prof. Liberty Porras.

The subsequent segments of the event were marked by the duo's impressive showcase of a sultry ramp walk during the presentation of candidates.

Adding a touch of glamour, they confidently flaunted the meticulously crafted designs of Mr. Alfie Jolo Desamparado in the dazzling designer's collection runway show.

Amar and Miranda shared their insights, emphasizing that their identity as performers and their talents define who they are when the spotlight intensified during the press presentation.

Anticipation builds as they prepare to unveil more during the upcoming talent's night, vying for the crown on pageant night set on January 23 and 25, respectively, at West Visayas State University - Cultural Center.
