I will always remain grounded, no matter where life takes me. It brings me immense joy to know that, even today, the people who have shaped me—especially my teachers—continue to guide and support me with unwavering dedication. You know what, hindi kita kilala personally pero I hope na habang binabasa mo 'to, sana ma feel mo na kinakausap kita.

Look, si papa ay isang jeepney driver sa Iloilo. Yung tigsa-sampung piso na pamasahe ng mga pasahero niya ang bumuhay sa'kin, nagpaaral sa'kin, that ten-peso per passenger opened a lot of opportunities and brought me somewhere incredible.

Hindi ako mayaman at mas lalong hindi ako nag-seaman para yumaman. Wala sa plano ko ang maging isang seafarer, but I know to myself that this profession might give me a capital to start a business, roll the money and earn.

Gaano man kahirap ang buhay, ni minsan hindi naisipan ng mga magulang ko na patigilin ako sa pag-aaral. They've seen potential in me at pinag-igihan ko din talaga sa school. Financially, hirap na hirap kami.

Naalala ko pa dati, may mga curricular activities akong nais salihan at dahil walang-wala naman kami, I have to let go of the things I want kase mas importante ang pagkain at ulam sa bahay.

Bata palang ako, alam ko na ang sistema ng buhay.

When money talks, nobody checks the grammar. Sorry for telling you the truth. Mahirap maging mahirap.

So I made a promise to myself, sabi ko I have to create my own opportunity. Hindi pwedeng maghihintay lang ako sa kung ano ang ibibigay sa'kin ni Lord. Sa tulong din ng mga relatives namin, nakapagtapos ako.

Up until, I made it to a domestic cadetship program. Mahirap bang mag-kadete?

Ang sagot, hindi. You just need to prepare a good mindset. A mindset that contributes strength, patience, courage and most of all, willingness to learn.

Eventually, that mindset will lead you to the best version of yourself. Sa totoo lang, hindi ako nahirapan while I'm on my cadetship program. To be honest, masyado mang toxic yung magiging kasama mo a barko (probably), pero ako, I've always tried to remind myself na ang punta ko dito, GROWTH.

Hindi ko responsibilidad na bigyang atensyon ang iba. I was here to establish myself, to prepare myself for a bigger field.

After my cadetship, sabi ko ito na ang hinihintay ko. Pabigat na ng pabigat ang hamon. I went to Manila and yes, I've been to KALAW. I've seen how people defended their goals there.

Now here we go, sa sitwasyon mo ngayon.

If you really want progress, wake up early. Set a plan. Organize yourself. Huwag kang tanga. Alam mo sa sarili mo kung pinapaasa ka lang ng mga tao o hindi.

Don't settle for one thing. Find some alternatives. Kung hindi ka papalarin sa first plan mo, dapat may second plan ka, third plan and so on.

Also, I want you to know na walang papatay sa'yo kung hindi ka magtatagumpay bilang seaman. Kung hindi ka tutuloy sa pagbabarko. This is not to discourage you, this is truth speaking. CREATE YOUR OWN FALLBACK.

What do I mean 'FALLBACK'?

Kung hindi ka magsi-seaman, ano ka? Saan ka babagsak? 'Yan ang ibig kong sabihin.

Yung iba sa atin, naging call center agent muna habang naghihintay ng line up. Yung iba, sa department store nagtrabaho. Yung iba, naging boy at nagpakaalipin, tiniis ang init at hirap sa construction site at yung iba, taga-bantay ng establishment AND IT'S NEVER AN ISSUE.

Kaya lang siya nagiging issue it's because WE HAVE THAT PRIDE within ourselves. Kase iniisip natin na kapag delayed tayo sa pangarap natin, talo na tayo. Nasa ibaba tayo. Mahina tayo. Masyado tayong mapagmataas kung minsan. Ayaw natin na mababa yung tingin sa atin. Ayaw nating nahuhuli. Gusto lagi nating nauuna.

Remember, hindi pabilisan ang pagkamit ng pangarap. Hayaan mo ang mga nauna. Mag-focus ka sa sarili mo, ask yourself kung ano pa ba ang kulang sa'yo. If you need to study, THEN STUDY. Always prepare yourself. Enrich your mind but don't forget to enrich your heart. Have patience.

Ang punta mo sa Manila, APPLY. Hindi meet and greet sa mga barkada at tropa mo. Hindi gala. Hindi pasyal at mas lalong hindi waldas ng waldas ng pera na pinapadala sa'yo ng mga magulang mo. Hindi ka PENSYONADO. Hindi ka rin BILYONARYO. Kase kung bilyonaryo ka, there's no need for you para pasukin ang mundo ng pagbabarko.

Sa edad mo, you have to earn money na talaga, hindi kita pine-pressure but malaki ka na and you have to know your goals, your priorities in life. Hindi padalian ang pagkamit sa pangarap, pero kailangan mo ng gumalaw. Why? YOUR PARENTS ARE GOING OLDER. Alam mo na ang nais kong ipahiwatig...

Be smart. Be brave. Tapangan mo pa. Tibayan mo pa. Kase pagsampa mo sa barko, maaaring doble pa sa dinadanas mo ngayon ang mararanasan mo onbaord o maaaring mas magaan onboard kumpara sa pinagdadaanan mo ngayon, the most important is... INIHANDA MO ANG SARILI MO.

If you are waiting for opportunities, don't just wait. Think. Don't waste your time. Mag-isip ka. Paano kung hindi dadating ang oportunidad na inaasahan mo? Ano ka ngayon? Saan ka ngayon?

Lods, ayaw kong makipag-plastikan 'pag ako ang nagsusulat. To inspire people, you have to feed them the truth.

Kung nangyari sa iba, hindi ibig sabihing mangyayari din sa'yo. But, kung willing ka talaga, believe me makakamit mo ang goal mo.

What is willingness?

Gumalaw ka. Huwag puro higa sa apartment mo. Huwag puro Facebook. Huwag puro ML. Huwag puro pasyal. Huwag puro barkada. Huwag puro pabuhat.

Willingness is waking up everyday without an excuse. The first decision of your day is to wake up early and set a goal, consistently.

The greatest motivation is actually not inspirational quotes. Out of stock na po ang mga quotes na 'yan ha. Not all inspirational quotes inspire people.

For me, THE GREATEST MOTIVATION IS POVERTY. Tingnan mo ang mga magulang mo, hindi ka ba naawa sa kanila?

Hindi ba't nakaka-excite gumanti sa kanila? Yung tipong magtatanong ka sa kanila balang araw ng...

"Ma, natanggap niyo na po ba ang allotment niyo?"

Don't read!!! I can still remember I was grade 4 when I had my first orginial nike shoes, a little bit sad lang kay te halin sa relipan. There was a moment, I was in a jeepney bound to Jordan wharf, ang tawo sa tubang ko nagpungko. Napansin ko ang sapatos ya, bag-o. Ultra white. Matinlo tulukon. So gin-atras ko ang tiil ko gamay pagadto sa dalum sang bangko para matago ang sapatos ko nga dirty white na maski bag-o laba nga nagupi pa kay ginpilpilan sang martilyo para magpilit ang super glue sa part nga nagtukal.

Bata palang ko ya, tama na sa'kon ka ambisyoso nga tawo. Gamay palang ko naka-set na sa utak ko nga ang reyalidad sang kabuhi, samtang nagadugay nga nagadugay, naga-lala nga naga-lala. So hambal ko, NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES, tinguhaan ko ni.

Hambal ko sa kaugalingon ko, asta san-o ako manubli sang sapatos sang mga pakaisahan ko? Asta san-o ako mamantinir sang relip? Asta san-o ako ya mamantinir sang second hand nga mga gamit? Nakahibalo ako nga indi malain ang magbakal sang second hand nga bagay pero para sa akon, daw grabe ang diskriminasyon sa amo sini nga aspeto.

Fast forward, on my 26th Birthday last day, I went to a Lacoste shop here in Marmara Ereğlisi, near the Marmara coast in Eastern Thrace, the European part of Turkey. Nagbakal ko sapatos, this time...INDI NA RELIP. Wala na ako sang pormalin nga nahaklo. Indi ko na kinahanglan pa paghuluman sa zonrox. Indi ko na kinahanglan pa nga ipatahi kag butangan super glue.

To everyone who is TRYING HARD, no worries. Trying hard is better than not trying at all. Try hard! Try hard and make yourself proud.

To everyone reading this, TABLES WILL ALWAYS TURN. Kung maghandum man kamo sa kabuhi niyo, dapat indi siya basta-basta handum lang. Dapat attainable siya. Inspiring. Heartfelt and pure.

Sang una birthday ko daw sapagkabudlay baklon ang cake para sa'kon. Mga isa ko pa na kabulan siguro nga tipid-tipid para lang may pang-cake. Ni-ultimo pang skyflakes ukon softdrinks para sa mga classmates ko haluson ko kalibre sa ila.

There was a time pa nga ma-absent nalang ko para wala gasto. Subong kadako sang pagpasalamat ko kay makabakal ako cake anytime I want. Mabakal ko ang gusto ko anywhere at any cost.

Hey! Just celebrated my 26th birthday here sa Turkey. Wala lang, daw nalipay lang ko kay ang ginpangako ko sa kaugalingon ko 15 years ago, natuman gid tanan. May sobra pa kag ginahatag ko ang sobra sa mga tawo nga ginaagyan kung ano man ang naagyan ko sang una.

Ang mga ginikanan ko waay gid nagdalok maski kay sin-o, kag saksi gid ang tanan dira nga taga-didto sa amon. I think it is just and right nga ma-adapt ko ang amo na nga pamatasan.

I am not here to brag, I am just so so so proud of myself for making this far. After all, I remain grounded. Amo ni ang ginahambal ko sa inyo ilabi na sa mga istudyante, himakas tudo.
