"Fermented banana trunks"
for poultry is an excellent way to create a nutritious, low-cost, and eco-friendly feed supplement. Banana trunks are rich in fiber, water and minerals, but fermentation enhances their digestibility and nutritional value for poultry. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed

1. Fresh banana trunks

2. Fermentation starter (Optional)(lactic acid bacteria or commercial inoculants like EM-1)

3. Molasses or sugar

4. Clean container with a lid (plastic drum or large bucket)

5. Chopping tools (knife, machete, or shredder)

Steps for Fermentation

1. Prepare the Banana Trunks

Cut the banana trunks into small pieces or shred them using a shredder. Smaller pieces ferment more efficiently.

Ensure they are fresh to prevent contamination.

2. Mix with Molasses and Starter

In a large container, mix the shredded banana trunk with molasses at a ratio of 1 kg of molasses per 10 kg of banana trunk.

Add your fermentation starter according to the product's instructions

3. Pack and Seal

Firmly pack the mixture into your container, removing as much air as possible.

Seal the container tightly to create anaerobic conditions, which are essential for fermentation.

4. Fermentation Period

Allow the mixture to ferment for 7 to 10 days in a shaded area at room temperature. Check occasionally for foul odors, which indicate contamination.

5. Check the Fermented Product

Properly fermented banana trunk will have a slightly sweet and tangy smell. It should not have a foul odor.

The texture will become softer, making it easier for poultry to consume.

Feeding to Poultry

Mix the fermented banana trunk with regular feed at a ratio of 10-20% of the total feed.

Introduce it gradually to avoid digestive issues and observe the poultry's acceptance and health.

Benefits for Poultry

1. Improved Digestibility

Fermentation breaks down tough fibers, making nutrients more accessible.

2. Probiotic Benefits

Fermented feed introduces beneficial microbes that enhance gut health.

3. Cost-Effective

Banana trunks are often waste products, reducing feed costs.

4. Environmental Sustainability

Utilizing agricultural waste minimizes farm waste.

Fight Pests with Baking Soda: Easy and Cheap 🤔
Use baking soda to get rid of cockroaches, bedbugs, ants, and mice.

HOW TO USE BAKING SODA FOR PEST CONTROL:

1. Cockroaches:
Mix baking soda with a small amount of sugar to attract cockroaches.
Sprinkle the mixture where you’ve seen cockroaches or near their hiding spots.
When cockroaches ingest the mixture, the baking soda reacts with water in their bodies, causing them to die.

2. Centipedes:
Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by around two cups of vinegar.
This mixture produces carbon dioxide, which can drown centipedes.

3. Snails and Slugs:
Sprinkle baking soda directly onto snails and slugs in your garden.
Focus on areas where they are commonly found.
Baking soda will dehydrate them.

4. Ants:
Create a mixture of baking soda and sugar to attract ants.
Sprinkle the mixture near ant trails or around their nest.
Ants that ingest the mixture will experience internal expansion and dehydration.

5. Mice and Rats:
Mix baking soda with sugar and flour to create bait for rodents.
Form the mixture into balls and place them where mice or rats are likely to find and eat them.
Baking soda causes a fatal buildup of gas inside the rodent.

6. Fleas:
Sprinkle a mixture of equal parts baking soda and salt on carpets, rugs, and soft furnishings.
Work the mixture into the fibers using a brush or broom.
Leave it overnight and vacuum thoroughly in the morning.
This helps dehydrate fleas and their eggs.

7. Bed Bugs:
Create a paste using baking soda and water.
Spread the paste on common bed bug hiding places and surrounding areas.
Bed bugs coming into contact with the paste may dehydrate and die.
Repeat this process and use fresh paste as needed

Identification of cross breed pigs on the basis of ear and colour.

So many times we confuse and unable to find what breed is our pig or piglet. On the basis of ear and body colour we can find it.

1.Ear.
Erect ear is dominant in pigs over floppy ear, so if pure erect ear breed if crossed with pure floppy ear pig, the piglets will have erect ear.

2. Skin colour
White skin is dominant in pigs followed by black skin. Red skin is reccesive in pigs.
So if white pig is bred with black or red pig, piglets will be all white.

There are numerous inquiries about which pig breed is the best. In my opinion, all breeds have their strengths, and what truly makes them successful comes down to effective management. While there are differences among breeds, good animal management consistently brings out the best in them.

It's also important to consider our environment and which breeds are best suited for it. You may have an excellent breed, but if it’s not compatible with your environment, it may not perform well. We have Large White, Duroc, TN70, and Landrace, all of which are performing effectively. The crossbreeding of Duroc with Large White, as well as Large White with TN70, has yielded some of the best results for us.

The breed of a pig significantly influences its growth rate, maturity, and overall performance.
Understanding these breed differences is crucial for effective breeding, feeding, and management strategies in pig production.

Growth Rate: Different breeds have different genetic potentials for growth. For instance, commercial breeds like Yorkshire and Landrace are known for their rapid growth rates, while some heritage breeds may grow more slowly but can have better meat quality.

Maturity: Breeds also vary in the age at which they reach sexual maturity. For example, some breeds may reach puberty earlier than others, affecting the timing of breeding and overall production cycles.

Feed Efficiency: Certain breeds are more efficient at converting feed into body weight, which can influence how quickly they grow and how much feed is required.

Body Composition: Breeds can differ in their fat-to-muscle ratios. Some breeds are genetically predisposed to produce leaner meat, while others may have higher fat content, impacting market preferences and profitability.

Health and Resilience: Some breeds may be more resilient to diseases and environmental stresses, influencing their growth and longevity.

Management Practices: Breeds may respond differently to various management practices, including housing, feeding, and handling, which can affect their overall growth and maturity.
