The Iligan City People’s Council (ICPC), in partnership with the city government of Iligan, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Iligan Medical Center College, and the Barangay Council of Santiago are excited to invite you to join us for an inspiring eco-friendly event that combines environmental stewardship with cultural celebration: the Mangrove Restoration, Coastal Clean-Up, and MusiKalikasan. This event is set to take place on April 21, 2024, Sunday, starting at 5:30 to 9:00 in the morning at the mouth of Mandulog River (Esplanade), Santiago, Iligan City.
This is to celebrate for Earth Day and CSO month while firming up our commitments to making a positive impact on our environment. Not only will we be engaging in mangrove restoration and coastal clean-up activities, but we will also be enticed to dance to peace and environment-themed songs the premier ethno-rock band in Iligan, Himig-Piglas. Known for their signature songs, Kinaiyahan and Gasa sa Kinaiyahan, Himig-Piglas will be joined by the IMCC Kapagintaw Cultural band, ensuring a truly memorable experience for all attendees.
Aligned with the Iligan Development Goals (IDGs) for the environment, tourism, culture, and good governance, our specific objectives for this event are as follows:
1. To celebrate Earth Day and CSO month;
2. Promotion and raising awareness for peace and environmental protection;
3. To involve 2,000 warm bodies in a climate change mitigation activity; and
4. To foster camaraderie among constituents of member organizations of Iligan City People’s Council and with the collaboration of the barangay and city governments.
For those interested in carpooling, assembly time is set for 5:00 a.m. at the Iligan City Post Office. Please remember to bring your own planting tools and boots to ensure your comfort and safety during the activities.
Your presence at this event is crucial as we work together to make a positive impact on our environment and community. We hope you can join us for these meaningful activities.
PLEASE BE THERE.... for our environment.... for our planet.... especially for us, humans... because earth can exist without humans, but humans cannot without the earth.
