College of Teacher Education (CTE), spearheaded by its College Student Body Organization (CSBO), empowered student leaders through Aspiring Teachers Leadership Advancing Summit (ATLAS) 2025 at the University E-Library AVR, February 06.
With the theme "Breaking Stereotypes: Building Empowered Leaders in a Gender-Sensitive Society", ATLAS 2025 aimed to encourage student leaders to break through the gender barriers set by the society.
In her inspirational message, CTE Dean Zenvi Ann Macalinao emphasized the importance of conducting the event as a social movement for driving positive change.
βLeadership shouldn't be defined by gender. Through empowerment, we dare to breakthrough these barriers,β Macalinao stated.
The leadership summit was a two-day event with the first day focusing on engaging seminars and discussions led by three remarkable guest speakers.
Dr. Arra Abaniel, Director of Gender and Development Office (GAD), highlighted that the abilities and capabilities of a person shouldn't be confined to his/her gender.
Dr. Abaniel further discussed the different roles and expectations that the society laid on the shoulders of both men and women wherein Abaniel also addressed the unequal opportunities and the unequal treatment given.
On the other hand, Mr. Adrian Luke Gallardo, former CTE-SBO P.I.O. (A.Y. '22-'23) and Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) Officer, tackled about the essence of establishing a good culture within an organization and the essence of leadership itself.
β'Wag ipagdamot ang sarili. 'Yong mga bagay na meron ka, gamitin mo para magsilbi sa iba. Gamitin mo para sa mga taong hindi makapagsalita. Gamitin mo para sa mga taong inaapakan 'yong dignidad nila,β Gallardo expressed as he encouraged the student leaders to use their abilities, voice, and positions to serve their fellow students and their fellow countrymen.
Meanwhile, Mr. Angelo Pines, former CTE-SBO President (A.Y. '22-'23), former SSG President (A.Y. '23-'24), and current SK Chairman of Zone V, focused more on giving meaningful advice as well as sharing significant experiences and realizations as a leader.
βThe best revenge you could have is being the best you could be,β Pines insinuated as he motivated the student leaders not to give up and not to be discouraged by their lapses and mistakes, but to make these as a source of inspiration to bounce back even stronger the next time around.
Certificates of appreciation and gift packages were given to the resource speakers for their significant contribution to the leadership summit.
Joshua Mikhail Basilio, CTE-SBO President, expressed his gratitude to every faculty, officers, guest speakers, and student leaders who attended and participated at the event.
ATLAS 2025 continued their leadership training until the next day, February 07, wherein student leaders showcased their abilities, skills, and talents in different games and competitions.
