Yes. It's EXTREMELY important!
Not just Occupational therapy but Speech therapy (if needed) as well. While I believe that parents are the best therapists in the world, we still need an expert to guide us through our children's special/additional needs. Get a board certified therapist and ask for help.
Also, pag kumuha na kayo ng therapist ng anak nyo, you should trust them.

Promoting Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities

1. The word "autistic" or "autism" is not a dirty word. Let's normalize using them to describe our child's condition.
2. If you're worried about your child's development or if you think there's something strange about his/her behavior. Consult a Developmental Pediatrician.
3. Early detection and intervention will give your child a better fighting chance to thrive in this world. It will open doors of opportunities to get all the help that your child and your family needs.
4. The usual interventions are:
- Occupational therapy
- Speech therapy
- ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis)
5. Parts of the program: (when your child is ready for school)
- SPED (Special Education)
- Inclusion program
6. Support their special interests as this may help in reducing their 'destructive' stimming behaviors and their time becomes more productive.
Acceptance comes from the parents first.
Let's embrace our child's uniqueness and love them with all our heart.

Lucas hates writing more than anything in the world π
π. He can tread in the water for 1hr30min, learn how to stand up in a surf board and find his balance while riding the waves in 60 minutes (with a coach and xmpre he's not yet a pro dito sa surfing pero palagay ko if may opportunity sya magsurf regularly makakaya nya) pero ang writing jusko nasa 10,000 to 1million hours na ata kami π struggle pa rin. As you can see sa mga photos dun sa writing nya umiiyak sya jan at nagmeltdown pa nga π
May tip ba kayo about writing jan? P**i pm or write down sa comments ππ

Lucas's new special interest right now is playing percussion instruments π
He has kalimba, castanets, xylophone, chime and a drum pad. He can name all his percussion instruments at home and then some (steel pan, vibraphone, kashaka, gravast? ayy bsta sounds like nyan π naririnig ko lang sa knya) Big deal yan sa kin kc nga ASD with language impairment sya pero kayang kaya nya sabihin yang mga yan π
He also likes singing (but singing doesnt like him lols). He likes listening to his voice in the microphone. He sings happy birthday and hums other songs. His iPad time has decreased dramatically because of all the singing, dancing and drumming π
*He's not yet very good at these stuff but I love that he tries β€οΈ He doesn't have a music teacher that can teach him on how to play these instruments, he has a piano teacher though. It looks like he's more interested in playing the drums than the piano, but we'll see π

We use public transportation to get to my son's school coz his dad needs to work in the office every Wednesday. Lucas loves jeepney rides and tricycle rides, it doesn't matter if it's crowded or hot and I applaud him for that because as a kid on the spectrum, I know that this is hard for him. He has sensory sensitivities just like all other individuals on the spectrum (their sensitivities are in varying degrees).
I also wanna share what happened today in the jeepney and the beauty of acceptance. I've already come to terms with the fact that my son is different and that his future is different than any other normal kids but that doesn't mean that I'm already giving up. No. Giving up is not an option for me. We have to push harder. In this particular jeepney ride, Lucas likes holding's lolo's arms. Lam mo yung feeling close sya lols, syempre, I apologized and told him na Lucas is a special kid. Lolo told me it's okay and that Lucas can hold his arm and that he understands. There's another lolo and lucas stepped on lolo's toes na di naman nya sadya. Sobrang dami ng sakay knna kaya kulang nalang magpalit palit nkmi ng mukha lols. That other lolo just smiled.
A nice lady overheard my conversation with Lolo #1 and she asked politely naman about Lucas's condition. Konting discussion lang and yun nga very accommodating sila. They can and will improve over time pero kahit maging high functioning pa mga yan, meron at meron pa rin silang mga quirks, mga weird stuff and that's okay. that should be okay.

Lucas was not soo thrilled with our baratilyo (tiangge) moments but he was still manageable. Fiesta sa lugar namin non and we thought it was the perfect time to "practice" him kasi nga we are going to Vietnam this April and we are going to Ben Thanh Market and/or Ho Thi Ky Market. Need pa sya ipractice more and we'll make sure na may place kung saan makakapg rest sya pag na overwhelm na.

Lucas's new activitiy βΊοΈ
Thank you teacher Azer for being patient with Lucas. Welcome to Team Lucas!
I'm not expecting him to do a recital this year lols kaya take your time lang β€οΈ This is gonna be a long but fruitful journey.
We noticed that Lucas is 'obsessed' in listening to music, medyo rock songs nga lang and mostly percussion instruments ang hilig kaya we also bought him a kalimba and castanets, like un mga pinapanood nya. Feeling ko drums ang mas gusto nya, kc un Around the world ng red hot chilli peppers and Zombie ng cranberries e dina drums nya sa mga kamay namin or sa table π nakakasabay nmn in fairness pero ang available na instrument now sa bahay ay keyboard kaya itry muna yan bago buy ng drums π
besides like din nmn nya tinutugtog yan. Anyway, once a week piano lesson for 30 minutes lang naman at para un stims nya e mabawasan or ma convert into something productive.

My little merman π Lucas is in his element when he's in the water. He loves swimming soooo much. What is your #ausome lo's favorite activity? #fypγ· #autismfamily #autismjourney #swimming #specialswimmer #favoriteactivity
Lucas the little drummer boy π₯°π Still a work in progress tho βΊοΈ He's showing interest in music and he likes percussion instruments especially drums and xylophone. He also likes beatboxing π He's into beats and stuff. We are supporting his special interests because we want him to be happy all the time and he might unlock other skills while doing what he loves. We love you baby, hope you enjoy your little drum pad ππ₯° #littledrummerboy #drums #ausomekid #autismjourney #specialinterest
When Lucas was younger, he didn't know how to dance. He would just jump up and down and his face was always serious π but lately, his "dance skill" has improved π he has new steps and he smiles now π #smallwins #danceristyarn #dancereels #autismjourney #ausomekid
Lucas's typical day part 1 π childcare + school readiness program at Daytime Kiddie Hub - Balibago and regular tutorials at JTH Academic and Tutoring Services - Bamban. He also has academic therapy (sped tutor) one on one once a week as recommended by his neurodevelopmental pedia. I just added the regular tutorials for his writing and coloring skills. His neurodev ped is aware of this kasi namention ko naman na sa knya yan and now nilagay na nya officially sa program nya. Lucas was in a good mood in these videos π pero pag minsan naka sompi (sumpong) sya pero pinipilit ko p rn sya. I am very thankful for their patience with my son. π #ausomekid #autismjourney #sped #AutismEducation
