Tugon nito’y, “Course.

On this All Souls' Day, we light candles not just to remember but to celebrate the lives that once touched ours so deeply. Though they may no longer be with us in body, their warmth remains—a quiet flame that time cannot dim. May these candles and our prayers lead their souls to everlasting peace, and may our hearts be strengthened by the hope that we shall meet them again in God's eternal embrace.

Every November 1, Filipinos pause for a truly special day: All Saints' Day. It's more than just a holiday; it's a deep-rooted tradition that honors all the saints—the famous ones we read about and the countless unsung heroes—for their incredible faith and goodness.

This day reminds us of a beautiful truth: being a "saint" isn't just about miracles and altars. It's about the everyday acts of love, service, and hope we see all around us. It's found in simple kindnesses.

Across the country, this is a moment for families to really connect. They'll go to Mass together, light candles, and share prayers, creating a warmth that strengthens their bonds and gives them a moment to reflect on their faith.

At heart, All Saints' Day is a simple yet powerful call to action for all of us: to try and live with a little more compassion and purpose every single day, embodying the generous spirit of the saints in our own lives.

NEWS | Freshies join stude welfare talk series

First-year students engaged in a series of student welfare seminars on Oct. 30, 2025, at the campus gymnasium.

The seminars focused on mental health, inclusivity, scholarship opportunities, and student conduct.

Ms. Joyce Espedido, the campus guidance counselor, explained the basics of mental health, factors that affect it, and coping mechanisms to freshmen.

She also called on students to end the stigma on mental health.

“Kindness has no cost, so always choose to be kind to everyone,” she said in Filipino.

Meanwhile, Ms. Catherine Rodriguez discussed the provisions of laws supporting the rights and welfare of various sectors, including the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act of 1997, the Solo Parents' Welfare Act of 2000, and the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities of 1992.

In the segment, Ms. Rodriguez urged students to use respectful language when addressing persons with disabilities.

“Stop calling them disabled persons. Let’s embrace them as “kapasan” [partners in community building] and not because of their disability,” she said in Filipino.

In a separate segment, Ms. Rodriguez oriented students on available scholarship grants and student responsibilities and conduct.

The campus administration spearheaded the said program. #

NEWS | CBEA holds mental health talk

The College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA) conducted a mental health symposium on Oct. 30, 2025, at the campus gymnasium.

Ms. Joyce Espedido, the campus guidance counselor, led the symposium. She discussed the basics of mental health, misconceptions, and coping mechanisms with the students.

In the event, students shared their struggles and approaches toward mental health.

Before concluding her presentation, Ms. Espedido urged students to be kind and empathetic.

Meanwhile, Sir Kelvin Jay Sapla assured students that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but of bravery.

The CBEA Student Council organized the program themed "The Weight We Don't Name: Finding Light in the Unspoken." #

NEWS | NSTP studes join nat’l security talks

National Service Training Program students and instructors participated in national security forum on Oct. 20 at the campus gymnasium.

Assistant Regional Director Renante Addatu briefed students on the provisions of Executive Order No. 70, s. 2018.

The assistant regional director also explained the idea of national security and classified the three main insurgent groups in the country: Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), New People’s Army (NPA), and National Democratic Front (NDF).

Meanwhile, Peace Advocate Mauricio Aguinaldo shared his experiences during his time at NPA.

“I was a former member of the NPA. My time as a rebel did not give me a good life,” he said in Iloco. “Which is why I returned to serve the government.”

Mr. Aguinaldo warned attendees that opposing the system brings more chaos. He called on students to be advocates of peace, unity, and patriotism instead.

Campus NSTP-ROTC Coordinator Ronel F. Alariao organized the said event in collaboration with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the campus admin. #

NEWS | CSU Gonzaga Honors Teachers as Builders of Dreams

“Teachers are not just bearers of knowledge; they are builders of dreams and shapers of character,” said Campus Student Council (CSC) Vice President Leonard Jake S. Cabais as Cagayan State University – Gonzaga Campus celebrated Teachers’ Day 2025 on October 15, 2025 at the CSU - Gonzaga Gymnasium.

The activity, spearheaded by the Campus Student Council, aimed to recognize the dedication and commitment of faculty and staff in shaping students’ lives and character.

In his message, Cabais expressed gratitude on behalf of the student body, describing teachers as “guides who light our paths even in the darkest of days.” He emphasized that teaching is not merely a profession but a lifelong mission of service and love.

Although Campus Executive Officer Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr. was unable to attend due to an important engagement, his leadership and support for the celebration were acknowledged by the organizers.

The College Governors from the six colleges also delivered their messages of tribute, expressing appreciation and respect for their mentors. The celebration continued with fun games, and a gift-giving activity led by the College Student Council as a gesture of gratitude for the faculty’s hard work and dedication.

The event concluded with applause from both students and teachers, reaffirming the CSU-Gonzaga community’s commitment to honoring the educators who continue to serve as the foundation of learning and inspiration.

09 | Orion, The Hunter.

Orion,
constellation above me,
who adorned the darkness of the night
with your bravery and strength
draw your bow for me tonight—
I am too tired to reach alone.

Pluck my dreams from the void,
tear them from the hands of fate,
for I have begged,
and I have bled,
and still, the stars remained silent.

I have screamed into the dark,
but the sky does not answer.
So, take my yearning,
take my sorrow,
before you fade by the morrow.

Yet... I am not reconciled.
If you are the hunter,
then hunt for me—
tear the cosmos apart,
drag my dreams from the hands of its keepers,
and place them in my shaking hands.

If they will not come to me,
then let them fall like dying stars—
let them burn, let them break,
so I may hold even the shattered pieces
in these desperate hands that pine.

Even if the gods were angered,
still, let your arrows strike them down.
Let the sky crack open,
let the stars shatter,
if only to make room
for a dream that is finally mine.
