Greetings of hope and solidarity!

We write to you with deep gratitude and a humble request for support. As educators dedicated to providing the best learning experiences for our students, we remain steadfast in our mission to deliver quality education despite the numerous challenges we face, especially with the implementation of the MATATAG curriculum. One of the core elements of this curriculum is the call to “Give support to teachers to teach better,” a battlecry that resonates with us deeply. However, while we are inspired by the intent behind this, we find ourselves in circumstances that make it difficult to fully realize this vision.

In our school, as in many others, teachers not only educate within the classrooms but also face personal challenges that impact our ability to teach effectively. Our situation is one of many in the Last-Mile Schools, where teachers live in makeshift shelters within the school premises for safety and accessibility. Recently, an unfortunate incident damaged our temporary shelter, leaving us to seek alternative arrangements, which have been far from ideal. For some of us, our classroom in the morning becomes our dormitory at night. These realities, while testing our resolve, also strengthen our commitment to our students.

We are grateful to those who have already seen our plight, heard our concerns, and extended their help. Your support has not only provided us with tangible assistance but also lifted our spirits. However, we are still in need of help to rebuild our shelter and ensure that we, as teachers, are adequately supported so we can, in turn, support our learners.

It is in this spirit that we humbly appeal to your kind heart for any form of assistance you may be able to provide. Whether through donations, materials for shelter repairs, or resources that can make our living and teaching conditions better, your support would be invaluable to us. Together, we can truly bring to life the “G” in the MATATAG curriculum and ensure that teachers are empowered to continue delivering the best for our learners.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our situation. We hope that with your help, we can rise above these challenges and continue to embody the resilience that the MATATAG curriculum stands for.
