"Paseo de Cabuntog" was the original name of what is now known as General Luna of Siargao Island.

The name "Paseo de Cabuntog" was used during the Spanish colonial period and likely referred to the area as a town or district with a significant local presence. However, as with many towns across the Philippines, the name was eventually changed during the post-colonial period to reflect national identity and honor Filipino leaders.

The name change to General Luna took place during the early 20th century, in honor of General Antonio Luna, a prominent Filipino military leader who fought in the Philippine-American War. General Luna is remembered for his bravery and leadership, and naming the town after him was a way to honor his legacy and patriotism.

Today, General Luna is famous for being a key destination in Siargao, known for its beautiful beaches, surf spots like Cloud 9, and vibrant local culture. Despite its modern appeal, the historical legacy of the name "Paseo de Cabuntog" serves as a reminder of the area's early colonial past.

It’s been almost a week without electricity, and honestly, it's been both frustrating and eye-opening. No Wi-Fi, no phone chargers, no late-night scrolling. Just pure silence and the occasional candlelight.

It’s amazing how much we take the little things for granted. At the same time, it's been a reminder to slow down and reconnect with the simple joys of life.

Here’s to the quiet moments, the time spent with loved ones, and realizing just how much we can adapt when we have to.
