Hundreds of persons with disabilities (PWDs) gathered today at the Garcia-Hernandez Sports and Training Centre to join the 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week Celebration jointly organized by the Local Government Unit under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. This year’s NDPR is anchored on the theme; “Aksesibilidad at Karapatan ng mga Taong may Kapansanan: Daan Tungo sa Sustenableng Kinabukasan na Walang Maiiwan.

Disability inclusion is an essential condition for upholding human rights, sustainable development, peace, and security. It is also central to the promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to leave no one behind. The commitment to realizing the rights of persons with disabilities is not only a matter of justice; it is an investment in a common future.

☝️ CPD conducted 3 Days PMOC

The Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers in the Philippines Incorporated (ALSWDOPI) Bohol Chapter thru Commission on Population and Development (CPD) formerly PopCom initiated a 3 day Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling Seminar on August 29 to 31, 2023 at Panda Tea Garden Suite. It was attended by Quaquin J. Gales, LPT and Franz Marie V. Galeon both from MSWD Office.

By virtue of Presidential Decree 956, the 1987 Family code of the Philippines, Local Government Code, and the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law, all couples applying for a marriage license in the Philippines are required to attend the Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC) session before they can be issued a license. It consists of four (4) major topics: Marriage and Relationships, Responsible Parenthood, Planning the Family, and Pregnancy & Child Care.

The purpose of PMOC is to provide would-be couples with information they will need in preparation for the challenges of married life, along with their responsibilities as spouses, family members, and future parents. It will also give them a better understanding of marriage so they can affirm their decision to get married based on sufficient knowledge and clear expectations.
