Be still and know that He is God. 🤎

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the LORD has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

I am glad that God does not think the way that we do! God is so much more merciful. Usually, when mercy is called for, we ask for what we call "justice." But the justice we want is usually revenge. We don't usually "turn the other cheek" when we are insulted or injured! Just look at the cases of road rage these days, or people ganging up on others when they feel that they have been disrespected. Because God does not judge as we do, we know that his promise of mercy for our sins is real. He will, and has, forgiven us for so much and will continue to do so when we turn to him and ask. All he wants is a heart that is turned to him, and our desire to repent and to do better. Temptation will always be a problem for us. But we do have a responsibility to avoid those people or those circumstances that lead us into sin. This can be difficult, especially if temptation comes from family or friends. I know people who have been emotionally abused as children and are so in need of someone to love them, but are also conditioned to equate love with abuse, that they cannot leave an abuser. I had a friend whose mother was an alcoholic and she was pretty much raised by her aunts. She, in turn, married an alcoholic who emotionally abused her. Even though she complained about his behavior, she wouldn't leave him; she kept trying to save him, as she could not save her mother. Alcoholics and those addicted to drugs find it hard to let go of their drinking or drug using friends when they have achieved sobriety and often go back to alcohol or drugs as a result. Let us ask God both for forgiveness and for the courage and strength to avoid the temptations that the devil uses to ensnare us.

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
MATTHEW 6:15

How miniscule are the wrongs done against us in comparison to the great debt of sin each one of us incurred against all-Holy God! It is as if we owed a trillion dollars and were forgiven that debt but a man owed us a penny, and shall we not forgive it? But there is another aspect to this as well, for as David tells us, it is ultimately against God alone we have sinned. (Psalm 51:4)

O Lord, we know that in repenting and turning to you in true faith for forgiveness of our sins, we also naturally turn from sinful grudges against others. We cannot hold the attitude of a penniless, helpless beggar before you and the attitude of a holier-than-thou attitude towards others together. Thus, in the end, those whom you forgive will have forgiven all others. Teach us to let go of grudges now instead of waiting for days, months, or years. Amen.

We are all guilty of making a promise we couldn’t keep! Our promises can be unrealistic or unattainable and we have no control over unseen obstacles that make it impossible to keep our end of the bargain. God is in control and all things happen according to His plan. He is the only one with the ability to always keep a promise. He is dependable, trustworthy and reliable as He promises to love us and forgive us when we sin against Him.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for loving us and promising to forgive us when we sin. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Nothing is impossible for the Lord! We are blessed to be able to make this claim. When we are joyful over new opportunities, we know God is responsible. When we struggle, we know He has the power to help us finish the race. It makes no difference how unattainable our hurtles feel or how impossible our dreams appear to be, He is present and ready to conquer each moment with us. There is no mountain we cannot climb because with God, all things are possible!

PRAYER
Dear Lord, nothing is impossible for You and we are humbled by the fact that You are present to help us conquer each moment. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

It’s impossible to forget we are sinners. All of us have made poor life decisions or sinned against God, causing hurt to people we love. It’s easy to allow regret to seep into our hearts and make us feel as though we can never overcome our terrible actions. Regret over our sinful nature is natural but we must remember that Jesus paid it all so that we may be forgiven. God’s love is unconditional, the slate is wiped clean when we ask for forgiveness in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER
Lord, please forgive our sin and make our lives new through your Spirit. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A few weeks ago, we were reflecting on this passage at my Monday night Bible Study and one of the women was disturbed by it. She didn't like the image of being baptized into Christ's death and wondered what it meant. I can understand why she was upset by it as one of her grandchildren as well as her brother had recently died. These words are often included in funeral rite so I told her that it was meant to be a reassurance of our resurrection as well as the reality of living as a Christian. If we are baptized into Christ's death then we need to put to death all those parts of ourselves that are not according to God's will. Just as Jesus subjected his will to that of the Father's by accepting his death on the cross, we need to subject ourselves to his will. We need to root out those bad habits that lead us to sin. We need to put God and others before ourselves. We need to reach out to others who are in need, even if it means going out of our comfort zone. Dying to self, leads us to a life of love which brings us a happiness that is richer for its simplicity. When we die to self, we're not concerned with what we don't have, we feel blessed for what we do have. And the reward is eternal life with Christ in the heavenly Kingdom.

When we try to rush ahead of God's timing and His guidance, we will end up making a lot of mistakes. We need to humble ourselves under God's guidance, realizing that He truly knows best. When we do so, we will reach the right points in our life at the right time. It's all about trusting Him.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you that when it comes to my life, you truly know best. Father, I pray that in times I may feel tempted to go my own way, or try rise on my own, may I remember that I am nothing without you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
PSALMS 69:3

INSPIRATION
We live in an imperfect world, and it is inevitable that bad times will come our way. No one can escape tears and heartache during this earthly life. As Christians, we have hope! Our knowledge of God’s presence brings us peace and comfort. We know God is in control and has ultimate power over the outcome of our struggles. As we wait patiently, God’s Spirit abides in our hearts, guiding and comforting us each moment.

PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank you for your presence and comfort through our struggles. You reassure us that Your mighty hands will catch every tear and you will continue to love us unconditionally. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

11/07/2023

The parable of the sower and the seed is a very familiar one and one of the few that Jesus explains to the disciples. However, I don't usually connect this passage from Isaiah with the parable. I find it interesting to compare the rain and snow with God's word. We take rain for granted most of the time, unless we live in an area of drought or in the desert. We plant our gardens, and we wait for the rain to come and help the flowers or the vegetables grow. We know that when the rain or snow has done it's work, it evaporates and the clouds grow heavy and eventually it will fall and water another part of the earth. When there is no rain, or not enough rain, the ground becomes dry and the flowers and vegetables don't grow, but wither and die. The word of God is given to us for a purpose. God tells us that it will not return to him without accomplishing his plan. It was God who spoke the world into being. It is the word of God that promised us salvation, and it is the Word of God who came into the world to redeem it by his life, death and resurrection. God's words are still at work in our world and need to be spoken through us as well as through the reading of the Scriptures. This word is the seed of faith which has been sown in each one of us and needs to be sown by us so that it will continue to accomplish the will of God in generations to come. The purpose of God's word will not be accomplished until the final harvest, but we must do our part so that the harvest will be plentiful.

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-53

INSPIRATION
Our current bodies are corruptible and mortal – they can fall to death and any pain inflicted on them. But in the time of Christ's return, all believers who have died will be raised up, and those who are alive, will be given their immortal and incorruptible bodies. We may not know what we will look like, but we know that it will be glorious – as God has promised us.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you that I can rejoice in all things because I know that what I go through in this body is merely temporary. Every pain, every sickness, and every infirmity are just signs of this fleshly body's weakness. But I am glad that a time is coming that this body will be done away with and I, and all your children, will take on a more glorious form. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
PSALM 73:26

INSPIRATION
At some point in time, we have felt like a failure. We slip up under pressure and fail to meet the expectations of those we respect. We behave poorly in family interactions or backslide in our walk with Christ. There are multiple ways we fail the world, but we are not failures to God. He sees us from the inside and knows our true hearts. He loves us unconditionally and will always strengthen us for the road ahead.

PRAYER
Dear God, when we feel we’ve become a failure, we know You love us faithfully and unconditionally. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Yesterday we considered the role of a disciple, and today we are warned against the challenges. Christianity today is under attack from many different sources and some of those sources are from people or organizations who consider themselves Christian. Sometimes the most difficult enemies to see are the ones that look and sound like us! A few years ago, a minister declared "war" on members of a certain religion and disrespected both toe members of that religion and the religion itself by burning their sacred books. This is an atrocity! An organization to which I belong collected money to replace those sacred books to anyone who asked. This is the Christian way of behaving. There are so many people who are more concerned about themselves than the welfare of others, that anyone who preaches justice or mercy is suspect. The same goes for anyone who would like us to protest the current moral state of affairs. Get rich quick, no matter who gets stepped on; take all the pleasure you can, no matter who gets hurt; lie, cheat or steal, if it gets you what you want! These are the wolves we must overcome. Jesus was right to tell us to be wise as well as harmless because the only way change can come is if we can see trouble and injustice coming and be able to recognize it for what it is. We also must figure out how to do no harm as we work to make the changes that God wants. As we continue our mission of discipleship, we need to be careful not to injure others in our pursuit of justice. Remember the wheat and the weeds, it's God's job to judge and we don't want to destroy any wheat by pulling up the weeds.

Envy and bitterness are negative feelings that become heavy burdens on our hearts. Envy of someone else’s knowledge, happiness or material possessions will make us sour, and has the potential to control our lives. We only want God to have complete control over our lives. We desire to walk in the truth and to follow Christ with no contention or envy in our hearts.

PRAYER
Father, forgive us for becoming envious of others. We want to walk in the truth and follow You with no bitterness in our hearts. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

08/07/2023

Jesus sent the apostles out on a mission. We are also commissioned as baptized people, to go out and preach the Good News of salvation. So how are we doing as disciples? Let's see. How comfortable are you to talk about your faith? Have you ever asked yourself why you have stayed a Christian? Do you find it easy to say you would pray for someone who told you that a relative was sick, or was facing a decision. If you answered "yes" then you are well on your way to being a good disciple. If your answer is "no" then it is important to ask yourself "why not." One good think is it's never too late to ask yourself these questions and remedy the situation. I know that many of you feel afraid that you don't know enough, but that easy to take care of, especially in this day of easy access to Christian teachings on-line or in books. The Bible is there to be opened and reflected upon. I know that you're probably thinking that it's easy for me to say, but I had to start somewhere too! I was lucky that my parents talked freely about God and encouraged me to read the Bible. But I also was brought up with the idea that we never talk about religion and politics! Perhaps that resonates with some of you as well. But that shouldn't stop us from getting comfortable with the most basic part of ourselves that helps to form all of our decisions whether we realize it or not. Today, think about one thing you can do that will make you a better disciple.

The Holy Spirit is also there to help us in times of weakness. There are times where we will not know what to say or how to pray. But we can rely on the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help speak for us when we are unable to find the words. He will surely help us and we will find comfort in that moment of need.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you that I can truly rely on and depend on you. Lord, in your word you promised that the Holy Spirit would be our Counselor and Comforter and I thank you Father that you have made this come to pass in my life. Holy Spirit, I ask that in times where I am at a loss for words, may you supply me with the words I need to say and the strength to endure as well. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

We are familiar with the story of Paul who was once one of the leading persecutors of Christians. Having experienced Jesus, he turned his life around and became one of the fiercest defenders of Christianity. I chose this passage because of its message for us. I sometimes think that people who have lived a life that was not in accord with the commandments feel that their sins are so serious that God cannot forgive them. This passage is trying to tell all of us that there is no sin or sinner that cannot be forgiven. God never gives up on us and he wants us never to give up on him or on ourselves. There is time to change and repent right up until the last moment of our lives. Paul claims that God's mercy was granted him because of his ignorance. It can be very hard to convince some people that sin cannot be committed in retrospect. Just as if we are driving along ten miles over the speed limit, we might get a ticket, but if we didn't know what the speed limit what was, it's not a sin. Until we know God and his goodness, and learn what is expected of his followers, we can't sin. We can do evil, sinful things, but sin can only happen once we know God and how he wants us to live. Once we realize that what we are doing is sinful, but we continue to do it, then we sin. God will forgive us when we repent and are sorry, but at times it can be harder to forgive ourselves. I once heard a minister say, "Are you better than God? If God can forgive you, how can you not forgive yourself?" If you are hanging onto guilt, turn it over to the Father, who forgives you, and then allow yourself to live in his light.

The world is an imperfect place filled with evil and confusion. Sometimes, we feel lost trying to figure out who we are and what our purpose is. We belong to God! We are His children, His perfect creation. Our purpose is to love each other as He loves us and continue to share the hope we have in Christ with this broken world.

PRAYER
Dear Father, we belong to You. Thank you for loving us conditionally as we work to make sure all the lost are able to find hope in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
-HEBREWS 12:13

Suffering is not enjoyable. When we wander from the path of righteousness by choosing sin, it ends with suffering and our feet become paralyzed. God uses the hardships we create to discipline and redirect our focus. We praise God for creating a straight path to keep our focus clearer and our feet less likely to stumble.

PRAYER
Dear God, the path of righteousness is straight and narrow so we will focus directly ahead and not become distracted by a sinful world. Please continue to help us stay on the path to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Fear is a natural emotion. We become frightened of the weather, the dark or perhaps our recent financial status. The list of items or factors we humans fear is endless. If we aren’t careful, our concerns begin to control our behavior. Fear makes us feel trapped until we fall at the feet of our Lord and Savior. When we ask for His help in our weakest moments, He will lift us up and comfort our uneasiness.

Dear Father, we are humbled by Your unconditional love for us. Thank you for Your presence when the world frightens us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

INSPIRATION
Hardships come to us in many forms throughout our lives. We experience financial woes, death of our loved ones, and health concerns. We often become weighed down by fear, anger, depression or sadness. God is our refuge in times of trouble. He carries our burden with us, and he builds us up so that we are not shaken by our misfortunes. God is loyal and loves us unconditionally.

PRAYER
Dear Father, we seek refuge in your arms. Thank you for helping us carry our earthy burdens and never allowing us to be shaken by our fears. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
-PSALM 100:5-

INSPIRATION
God is good and that will never change. It who He is. Time and time again we are reminded in the Bible, God's Word, that his mercy is everlasting. It will never expire. It will never forsake us. God's mercy is there for us every single day. It is because of God's mercy, we have the confidence in Him that we have. God's word will always reign supreme for an eternity to come.

PRAYER
Dear God, in this world there are so many people, organizations and corporations the enemy is trying to use to speak against you and who you really are. But I know the truth and I know that no other word, apart from yours, will last for ages to come. As much as the enemy will try, he will never be able to successful breed doubt about who you are, in the minds of every man. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

"NA-ENTERTAIN, KAYA NADRAIN."

Weeks ago, may nag PM dito sa page and asked a question.
"Kuya, sin po ba ang paglalaro ng video games."

Nung nabasa ko to', I immidiately say na in a way na "Kung nagiging "idol" mo na yung game, Yes." And basically yun din talaga pinaniniwalaan ko, kahit sa mga iba't-ibang form of worldly entertainment ngayon.

But then, what the guy who asked the question don't know is that during that time, kakalaro ko lang din ng Ragnarok Origin. Casual pa lang naman, di naman totally kumukuha ng time ko but, I enjoyed it.

Now konting background, (not to justify or anything) pero kaya ko nilaro yung game is that, growing up wala akong extrang baon pang computer shop para laruin yung game na yun dati. And I was jealous sa mga kuya ko kasi sila nalalaro nila, ako hindi.

Kaya naman fast forward to now kung saan may mga devices na ako, I really enjoyed playing that game.

Now. The problem came, when my wife noticed me.
Usually, hindi niya ako nakikitang naglalaro or "addicted" sa isang game. Kumbaga isa daw yun sa pinapasalamat niya sa akin dati. Kasi we have heard stories of relationship na naapektuhan dahil lang sa games.

Kaya naging problem kasi, nung na-notice niya ako, I was taking advantage of the "Auto-mode" feature nung game kung saan naglalaro siya ng sarili, para magfarm o mag gather ng EXP. Ginagawa ko yun habang nakacharge yung dalawa kong phone.

And it started. I got hooked. Day after day, kausap ko man siya or hindi naglalaro ako. And it got worse, During my daily morning devotions.

But I was hooked kaya during that time, di ko napansin and nagpatuloy lang.

Then finally, Nagising ako sa katotohanan. I was behind my deadlines, I have no money para sa rent namin, and spiritually drained.

NA-ENTERTAIN, kaya Nadrain.
I was playing too much. Turning a simple game into an idol.

Little did I know nade-drain na yung time na sana nakapagdrawing ako.

I LEARNED MY LESSON. I SINNED.

THANK GOD, HE uses my wife again to remind me of what I've been doing.
She just mentioned na "Sobra na yung paglalaro ko." At boom!

May ministry akong napapabayaan.

And I learned the lesson bago pa man tuluyang maging malala.

Praise God! In his grace He led me to repent and stop playing that game again. Examine your heart.

Nope, hindi masama yung laro. In my case, naging "idol" siya kaya naging masama.

Dahil anything that can entertain us can drain us kung kulang tayong discernment.

To a point na magiging slave na tayo.

Kaya, Get rid of the things na nagsa suck sa atin and making us slave of it. REPENT.

And say with Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:12,

"I am allowed to do anything," you say. My answer to this is that not all things are good. Even if it is true that "I am allowed to do anything," I will not let anything control me like a slave.

BES, Be careful that what God has allowed you to enjoy doesn’t grow into a bad habit that controls you. - LASB

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.-JOHN 16:33-

INSPIRATION
Through Jesus, we as earthly beings have also found a path to overcoming the world. But, the only lasting transcendence is that granted to us by the Lord. Many might try other methods, the most sad and tragic one common today being drugs. Yet, without salvation and the word of the Lord, these attempts are doomed to fail. In the Christian faith we transcend ourselves into more perfect beings, and finally upon our day of reckoning, we transcend our flesh and enter into the eternal Kingdom. Drugs on the other hand allow one only to descend deeper into oneself and one's own anxieties, only to return to one's original position. Rather than being truly liberated, one simply plunges deeper into a need to escape. Without God, and one's spirit, one cannot truly transcend this life, one may merely bore deeper into its illusions.

PRAYER
God Our Heavenly Father, I thank you for counting me amongst those of your blessed children, who know your name and wish to sit at the feet of your throne. I pray for those to whom you speak, but are too deaf to listen. May they find inner wisdom and the true path into eternal life; through your divine glory and mercy alone, Amen.

INSPIRATION
It’s easy to think of God as being distant and far off, too busy to notice the insignificant details of our lives. But God is infinite, so there is enough of Him to notice something as small and common as a sparrow, while still being fully attentive to you and me.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your presence with us. Your love and care for Your creation know no end. It brings me peace to know that You miss no detail and that nothing is too insignificant for You to notice. For I know that because of Your faithfulness and care, I will never be forgotten.

Bes, alalahanin mo. God sees you. Totoo yun!
Sabi sa devo ko kanina sa Proverbs 5:21, “For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭NLT

Kitang-kita ni Lord bawat kilos natin. From our sins, habits and even sa mga talents and gifts natin.
And if we just really allow Him to guide our every step, mas makikita natin yung purpose ng mga bagay na ginagawa natin.

No.
Ano naman kung di tayo sikat? Di nalang natin itutuloy? No.
Ibig sabihin ba nun wala ng sense yung lahat pinagod mo para matutunan mo yung ginagawa mo ngayon? No.

And when we do things for His glory, grabe yung satisfaction.

So, Sa kanya mo idedicate yung tula o mga thoughts mo.

He gave that gift to you!

For now, Siya muna ang gawin mong audience. And I tell you di ka Niya bibiguin, di ka Niya iiwanan, di ka Niya papabayaan.
And soon enough in His time, He will use that gift para may mailapit ka pa sa Kanyang iba.

Trust me on this, Bes.

To God be the glory.☝️
