The meaning behind Brgy Alacaygan Logo

The proposed Barangay Alacaygan Logo. In the logo are the sun, sugarcane plant, man planting and harvesting rice. The logo symbolizes the life of the people in Barangay Alacaygan. Farming is the main and primary source of income of every family in the barangay.

The Sun symbolizes hope. People wake up each morning with hope in their hearts that someday, they will be able to send their children to school and have them finish their studies through their hard work.

The Sugarcane plant symbolizes the hardship of every people of Barangay Alacaygan. The production of sugar is one of the main sources of income in our barangay. Through the hardship of every Alacayganon especially the fathers, they are able to provide the primary needs of their children through their noble job called “karga tapas”.

The man planting and harvesting rice symbolizes the perseverance of Alacayganons. We all know that it takes time for the rice to be harvested. It takes sweat, blood, and tears. But with the patience and perseverance of every Alacayganon farmer, we are able produce rice that are being sold to the city market and through that, the farmers are also able to provide for their families.

We extend an invitation to you all to attend the annual “ALANIHAN FESTIVAL" on the 24th of February 2024.

Brgy. Alacaygan, an upland barangay renowned for its agricultural produce such as Tubo (Sugarcane) and Humay (Rice), serves as the backbone of the local economy. The primary objective of Barangay Alacaygan is to cultivate and maintain crops and farmland, as we firmly believe that land cultivation is the primary source of prosperity.

The ALANIHAN FESTIVAL is observed on the last Saturday of February as a gesture of gratitude for a bountiful harvest of agricultural crops, in honor of our Patron Saint, Nuestra Señora De la Candelaria.

The term "ALANIHAN" originates from the Hiligaynon language, wherein "ALA" represents "ALACAYGAN" and "NIHAN" signifies "ANIHAN," thus denoting "ANIHAN SA ALACAYGAN." This celebration serves as concrete evidence that life in Barangay Alacaygan is characterized by abundance and enjoyment and a living proof that life is bountiful and fun in Barangay Alacaygan.

We anticipate your presence as we come together to celebrate this joyous occasion!
