Earlier todayโ€”February 5, 2025โ€”fourth-year agriculture students of Davao de Oro State College - Maragusan Branch commenced their two-day Agriculturists Licensure Examination (ALE) Pre-Test at the Audio Visual Room (AVR), which will resume on friday, February 7, 2025.

Covering six major subjects from the Agriculture Department, the pretest comprises 100 questions per subject including: Crop Science , Animal Science, Crop Protection, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension and Communication, and Agricultural Economics and Marketing .

Towards assessing their readiness for the actual ALE and providing valuable insights into their strengths and rooms for improvement, this mock examination serves as an essential preparation for DDOSC-Maragusan's potential agriculturists by allowing allowing them to familiarize the test format, subject coverage, and time constraints, ensuring they are better equipped for the official licensure exam.

To all examinees, stay focused, trust in your preparation, and donโ€™t forget to take breaks when needed. Good luck and God bless, ๐‘ญ๐’–๐’•๐’–๐’“๐’† ๐‘จ๐’ˆ๐’“๐’Š๐’„๐’–๐’๐’•๐’–๐’“๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’”!

On January 30, 2025, COMELEC organized an Automated Counting Machine (ACM) roadshow at DDOSC Maragusan Covered Court. It was centered on educational activities such as civic registration and the automated counting machine training. Students were trained on the operation of ACMs as part of preparation for the 2025 elections on National and Local elections and the BARMM Parliamentary elections.

In order to supplement the presentations given at the roadshow, some educational orientation sessions were also held. Emphasis was placed on the work and operation of an ACM. Students were assisted in hands-on simulations, asked questions, and provided with practical information on how to operate the devices.

The initiative illustrates COMELEC intent to create an informed electorate. It is desired that through exposing students to these technologies, confidence in the electoral process will be built and results will be trusted. The positive outcome of this program will be considered in designing other programs in voter education.

28/01/2025

๐™Ž๐™†๐™‡ | Sometimes, you are not alone because nobody else is around you, but because nobody else around you understands or sees things as they really are, much less feels the things you feel.

As it goes, the loneliness of the body is unique from the loneliness of the mind, and while physical loneliness we can pacify with ease at the slight perch of another hand on our shoulder, or the genial presence of another shadow next to oneโ€™s own, the loneliness of consciousness has a rare remedy. The rendezvous of two minds radiating at the same intensity, which harbor similar aspirations, foibles, passions, and criticisms are as spasmodic as love and other eclipses.

I am writing to confess the nature of my melancholia is the latter. I am alone because of an idea. This idea is that I can only truly count with my fingertips the individuals around me who I can detect passion in โ€“ who know how to love in their little ways the things they suppose are worthy of love, and who make the world bearable somehow. This loneliness stalks me wherever I go, and because I am a student, these days it mostly finds me in the classroom.

In our classroom, instructors come and go, in and out, and save for a few of them, they always make sure to carry everything they deem is essential in the teaching process: extension wires, acknowledgment receipts, an attendance sheet, a laptop, a cyclopean projector โ€“ you name it. Except they always seem to forget the pendantโ€”the flint that is most quintessential in the conjuring of the alchemical flame that could transform ignorance to goldโ€”their hearts. It sometimes even brings me to muse that the technology alongside the printouts stacked on their desks or walk around the corridors with as they tread towards classrooms are merely pretextsโ€” instruments to their confusion of attendance with educationโ€“ prosthetics to eke out what they lack in substance and spirit.

With a trained eye, itโ€™s impossible not to notice their detachment from their profession. Throughout the whole session, they parrot only what is projected on whiteboards bruised with the hieroglyph of permanent markers and starbursts of double-sided tape residue. Chances are, the PowerPoint presentations arenโ€™t even original. Not to mention, they misinterpret quoted passages and concepts with the soporific monotony of their voices. Their teaching strategies are passive, armchair, if any strategy at all. Their jokes are blunt, and some of them even usurp the lessons with the vanity of their anecdotes. It suffices to say, one glance at them and you can see their emptiness. One could almost swear you can unbutton their shirts and find a yawning vacuum in their chests where commitment should be.

It's comical, when you really think of itโ€”the dead giving a crashcourse on living. HA-HA! And a fair share of tragedy too. Their heart is simply not in their work โ€“ they must have left it at home, with their wallet, or they must have lost it a long time ago to some extinct dreamโ€”to some other room where they should beโ€”that at the end of every session one does not bring home from them the exultation of achieving even a photon of enlightenment except the crushing epiphany that they are wasting time, and now, they are wasting yours.

So I guess I am alone in this awareness; when you teach heartlessly, you teach your students to be heartless.

This is even more fatal in the department of teacher education, and already, the infection is growing at a pandemic rate. For the most part, instructors point an incriminating finger to AIโ€”shifting the blame of intellectual cancer to an invention which emerged as an assistant to passion, if only passion was well-taught and inspired in the first place. Now, speaking with firsthand experience in the context of my program, I am sure that this culture of dwelling in your duties half-heartedly, if any heart at all, will be perpetuated. Sooner or later, English majors will get their bachelorโ€™s degree with fractured English, without having finished reading a single English novel in their lives, without mastering even the subject-verb agreement, and if they teach, they will became the exact monsters they fulminated ones upon a time โ€“ teachers who fail student despite the palpable errors and incompetence of there instruction, teachers who donโ€™t knew what they are teaching about, at all.

I acknowledge most of us here are not here so out of honest vocation, but out of claustrophobic circumstances. I know most of us here have dreamed dreams fatter than our privileges. More so, I recognize the countable educators who dedicate themselves to their work in alleviating the corruption of consciousness, and I am grateful for experiencing their passion for somehow it told me that scarce though it is, hope nonetheless prevails. I am only pleading, beseeching, that whether we chose this path or not, we must contain our hearts and not let it stray in the obsolete wonderland of regret and despair. Where the heart goes, after all, the mind follows, leaving the body floating in a zombie-stateโ€”and if the ignorant body has functions and obligations to fulfil in the community, sure enough it will infect others.

As they say, authentic education is not really for equipping us with the necessary armaments that prepare us for the real world. Surprise! We are already in the real world! So at best, education should empower us in honing it to a better shape. The best we can do, from here, is to prevent the contagion of dispassion by disinfecting it with the synergy of enthusiasm, curiosity, and imagination.

That is to say, we must not confiscate from ourselves the opportunity to flourish in a world that values eudaimonia. In this light, it is equally as urgent as teaching how to teach, or learning how to learn that we teach how to love and view the cultivation of intimacy towards our work as a means of cultivating intimacy with and, as deeply, among othersโ€”that we know love is the principal obligation of every human being should he aspire to transform reality or merely to save another from loneliness.

In in the end, we can only truly save the world by loving what we do, which is easier, if we are doing what we love.

๐— ๐—ข๐—ก๐——๐—”๐—ฌ ๐— ๐—ข๐—ง๐—œ๐—ฉ๐—”๐—ง๐—œ๐—ข๐—ก | Have you ever experienced the thrill of anticipation or the gasp of awe when faced with something truly amazing?

That feeling, that wonder, is the key to unlocking a lifelong love of learning.

This is the vision that Rudolph J. Melone painted when he emphasized the significance of maintaining a sense of wonder in teaching. This isn't just about teaching facts; it's about igniting a passion for discovery that burns bright from birth to death.

To our future educators and our academic mentors today โ€“ the builders of inspiration, the cultivators of curiosity, the coming world changers โ€“ remember that your role does not simply end in merely imparting knowledge but extends to instilling a sense of never-ending curiosity. You have the key to unlocking the potential in every student.

People somehow neglect the need to discover as information is now at our fingertips, but do not let this stop you from desiring to dig deeper, to explore, to question, and to grow. Carry with you the wisdom of Melone's words.

Keep in mind that the ability to learn is not limited by age as humans are constantly learning no matter the status they have attained, the state they are in, or the level they have reached โ€” we are all still growing and still curious about the world around us.

So, as you step into the school, carry with you the seeds of knowledge and witness as those seeds grow and blossom into a future filled with endless possibilities.
