As stated in Malacañang 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨. 𝟔𝟔𝟓 the special non-working holiday for Ninoy Aquino Day was recently changed from August 21st to August 23rd.

Ninoy Aquino Day is a holiday celebrated annually to honor former Senator 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨 "𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲" 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐉𝐫. who got assassinated on August 21, 1983. His death including countless others sparked the People Power Revolution, which is also famously known as the EDSA Revolution— a historic movement that united millions of Filipinos in a peaceful fight for democracy and freedom.

While you enjoy this extended break take a moment to reflect on the significance of this day. It’s a perfect opportunity to unwind, recharge, and appreciate the freedom and democracy that we currently have.

𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹-𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱

with all the workload, the tidal deadlines crashing against one another, the responsibilities pulling your mind from all sides; all these are tedious enough,

but being on a track that oppugns your vocation — 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 — is another.

Looking back, some of my dreams seem ancient. As a kid, I wanted to work with colors. I wanted to study music. I dreamed of leaving splashes of my imagination on museum walls, besides the dream to publish a novel before turning 18.

Those were grand thoughts — I know — but they resonated with my spirit. I felt a certain power in collating the desultory forces of the world into incarnations of both grandeur and meaning. Those are the things I would have loved to suffer for: art school, my hands crucified on the fret, standing on the shoulders of Da Vinci, or Beethoven, perhaps.

Now, I'm two academic calendars away from graduating as a teacher, and though most of you would take it with celebratory anticipation, I believe it's a cruel thing— to impart knowledge as someone who feels he hasn't even learned anything yet.

So it's a different misery to walk on your knees at the wrong temple, but it's a reality for most of us. When you're following a path you didn't plan to be in, every step can be a mile taken from self-clarity. In it, you'll walk among people whose interests and propensities differ from yours, crawling under snares and briars your anatomy just wasn't made for.

And at some helpless point you begin to grope on philosophies trying to justify the torment of your circumstance in hopes it would make sense— that the mud would clear, and you'll learn to love it anyway.

But, you know, in every assignment you accomplish, in every period you punctuate a half-hearted essay with, you are one slipshod step astray from the possibility of knowing yourself according to your most visceral ambitions.

Who you could have been if only you had the perfect material to incubate your dreams will forever be entombed in mystery.

And you remember what Socrates must have repeated to himself, sotto voce, engraved at the entrance to Apollo's temple at Delphi — the bold instruction of life commanding you to 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑦𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓.

Then your lungs explode into a giant cloud of cynical laughter,

because knowing thyself had always been easy

if you had privilege on your side,

and if not, then you settle with the cheaper alternative— 𝑙𝑢𝑐𝑘 — though in its quiet intervals,

you mostly punish yourself with hope.

Earlier this morning, the first UFED General Orientation for Academic year 2024-2025 was held at the campus covered court— an important event for the Teacher Education Department (TED) students.

UFED President Raphy Bahinting led the meeting as the organization's newly elected president. He presented the agenda for the year and the organization’s constitution and by-laws. Later on, he outlined the upcoming activities and explained Memorandum Order No. 02 to the students, overall conveying a presentation that elucidates the importance of solidarity and active involvement among TED students.

Jesson Padillo, former UFED Secretary, opened the orientation, recalling the Accomplishment and Annual Reports of the previous officers. The report had the details regarding various transactions of the organization in the previous academic year. Danikka Digaum— former UFED Treasurer — followed this presentation with the previous administration's financial report, ensuring transparency of the organization’s financial health.

This orientation not only informed the students but also had inspired them to contribute to the department’s success.

The second and final day of the leadership training held in the Audio Visual Room on August 17, 2024, brought forth new and impactful insights into the true qualities of a student leader. The event featured resource speaker 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗧. 𝗜𝗴𝗽𝗶𝘁, 𝘓𝘗𝘛 a renowned expert in leadership, who inspired and motivated student leaders to awaken their potential. He emphasized that leadership extends beyond mere internal characteristics, serving instead as a prerequisite for making a meaningful difference.

So, what qualities are essential for becoming an effective leader? According to Mr. Igpit, to create impactful change, a leader must possess a set of 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨. This includes proficiency in Technical Writing, a Business Mindset, and Innovation.

He pointed out that a leader must know how to communicate effectively through writing, negotiate with various individuals, and think creatively to stay ahead of trends. By mastering these skills, a leader can build linkages and partnerships that drive change not only within the institution but also throughout the broader community.

The Day 1 of the leadership training inaugurated today at the DDOSC-Maragusan's Audio-Visual Room. This event is initiated by the College Students Council (CSC) with representatives from different organizations within the campus of Davao De Oro State College-Maragusan.

The morning's session is about Parliamentary Procedure. This is delivered by the resource speaker, Hon. Eufelu B. Anino. The first session serves as a guide in order for the organizations to have orderly meetings.

An exciting path to shape agriculture's future begins with today's orientation. More than just learners, you are the leaders and innovators of the future who will promote sustainability, improve farming methods, and guarantee food security for upcoming generations.

𝔻𝕆 𝔻𝔸𝕐: ℂ𝕃𝔼𝔸ℕ-𝕌ℙ 𝔸ℂ𝕋𝕀𝕍𝕀𝕋𝕐 𝕀ℕ 𝔻𝔻𝕆𝕊ℂ 𝕄𝔸ℝ𝔸𝔾𝕌𝕊𝔸ℕ

DDOSC Maragusan beat the heat of the sun by conducting and participating in a general cleaning day (DO DAY) for every classroom and the entire campus as a preparation for classes for the 1st semester of AY 2024-2025.

Teachers, non-teaching staff, and all the students actively joined the clean-up activity by lending a hand to each other and making sure that the campus is clean and safe for everyone.

This event also highlights the preparation for the dengue prevention misting activity, as dengue is very prevalent in Maragusan. This clean-up is a great way to make this campus a safe space for working and learning.

A training session was conducted today, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Audio-Visual Room by faculty instructors from several departments at Davao de Oro State College-Maragusan.

The morning's workshop was about Creating an Effective Presentation using Prezi and Canva and on the afternoon, was about Introducing Mentimeter and Google Jamboard for Education and Designing Course Packs and Learning Materials using Canva. This is headed by the resource speakers from Davao del Norte State College - Christopher Añana, MIT and Dr. Mark Van Buladaco. This serves as a teaching tool that aids instructors stay on top of the latest developments and provide students a more engaging and dynamic educational experience.

The 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 conducted its Departmental Orientation for the SY 2024-2025. The event highlights the Orientation Proper, this includes the Overview of the Program, Admission Requirements and Retention Policy, Rules on Pre-Requisite, Grading System, Rules and Guidelines for Incubation Laboratory, Clubs and Organization Announcement and the giving of Dean's List Awards.

Moreover, this just not solely educating about the proper orientation guidelines but also this department serves as an avenue to empower, equip and prepare aspiring entrepreneurs to create, capture and materialized things into reality.

𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬|

𝘿𝘿𝙊𝙎𝘾 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙋 𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 for the first year students at the campus covered court. Esteemed speakers Ni**od Briones, NSTP Coordinator, and MSg Miguel S. Jebulan Jr. delivered a great session to these students, helping them to better understand the NSTP program.

NSTP or National Service Training Program, is a program established under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 (R.A. 9163). It consists of three components, which are the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and the Literacy Training Service (LTS), all of which aim to enhance the defense preparedness of today's youth.

Overall, the orientation was an essential step for all the first year students to choose what to enroll in for their NSTP course and to build a strong foundation for their college journey.

World Teachers' Day occurs each year on October 5th, serving as a global occasion, to honor and appreciate educators worldwide. This day commemorates the vital role teachers play, in reshaping education and prompts us to reflect the support, required to unleash their full potential and dedication. In line with this annual celebration, an event conducted at Davao de Oro State College-Maragusan Branch, with the theme "Together 4 Teachers". The program began at 1:00 PM. All the administrators, faculties, teachers, and students, gathered together in the covered court, and were entertained by selected students, from different departments performing various activities. To conclude, the students delivering their gifts, tokens, and messages to the teachers, as a symbol of thanks for being the second parents in the school, who lead and guide the students to live, good lives in order to have better futures.
