Today, we celebrate the 161st year of honoring and remembering the late Andres Bonifacio's contributions to the Philippine independence from Spanish rule. His contributions sparked the nationalism of every Filipinos. This day commemorates the undying patriotism of Filipinos for our country, the Philippines.

[𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦]

Despite having the smallest contingent, Davao de Oro State College proved its mettle against the best of Mindanao as the DDOSC Live Band claimed the gold medal in the live band competition at the ongoing Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools, Inc. (MASTS) Friendship Games 2024.

Under the guidance of SCAD Director Jeric Suguis, the seven-member band captivated the audience with electrifying renditions of “Sumayaw Ka” and “Yugyugan.”

In addition, James Lloyd Pacquiao, also coached by Mr. Suguis, brought pride to DDOSC by securing fifth place in the Classical Guitar competition.

These accomplishments contribute to DDOSC's medal tally of two golds and one fifth-place finish, including Quixier Postrano's earlier gold in Pagkukwento. Achieving these milestones despite having the smallest delegation is a testament to DDOSC's spirit and talent.

Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay and the entire DDOSC community proudly celebrate these achievements. Congratulations, DDOSCians!

As human beings, we have the power to shape our own future by changing the way we think and approach life. Our attitude — whether positive, negative, hopeful, or doubtful — plays a crucial role in determining the course of our lives. Rather than being victims of circumstance, we should take control of our destiny by adjusting how we respond to challenges, opportunities, and setbacks.

We often look to external factors, like luck or others' actions, to explain our outcomes. This reminds us that we have the ability to influence our future through our internal choices, particularly our mindset. A shift toward optimism, resilience, or confidence can open up new paths and possibilities.

By simply altering our attitude, we can make small yet powerful changes that ripple out and lead to significant transformations in our lives.

Today, November 20, 2024, the Maragusan Municipal Dome livened up as the Dancesports Competition, an exuberant celebration of tempo and talent, took center stage during the Pyagsawitan Festival and the 47th Araw ng Maragusan. Among the talented performers were students from Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC), whose riveting routines earned them well-deserved recognition.

Representing DDOSC in the Youth Category, Jouisgold Pagalan and Thea Quinilog showcased their impressive rapport, securing 4th place. Meanwhile, Reynald Silanova and Angel Muring danced with vigor and grace, earning 5th place and further fortifying the college's aptitude in the art of dance.

The competition featured various categories, including Juvenile, Youth, Open/Amateur, and Open Third Kind, with participants hailing from municipalities such as Mati City, Tagum City and Panabo City. Spectators were treated to stunning performances across genres like cha-cha, samba, pasa doble, and jive.

This year’s event not only accentuated the exceptional talent of Maragusan’s youth but also underlined their ability to inspire honor and admiration through their talents. Congratulations to the DDOSC students for their superb performances – you are truly the pride of the college!

𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦 | 𝑨 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒑

There are times I look back when I was a kid and I still had a dream;

I had so many ideas of what I wanted to be, but I never felt comfortable sharing them.

Some dreams felt too personal, too fragile, and if I said them out loud, they might think I'm insane. Other times, I just gave answers I thought people wanted to hear—the safe ones that wouldn’t make me feel different.

But somewhere along the way, I didn't even realize I stopped dreaming altogether. Now, it feels like I’m just drifting, stuck in the middle, not really knowing what I want or what I even like to do. Every so often, I get a glimpse of something I might want, but then doubt creeps in, or if someone pushes back, I start to crumble and wonder if I should just stop.

But I’m trying to fight that for now.

The one thing I kept thinking of is when a friend asked me, "What’s your purpose in life?"

and my answer was simple—none.

I don’t really know what that means yet. Maybe it's writing, or maybe it’s learning about people and why they think the way they do. But sometimes I do wonder. What if I do figure it out? What if I realize my dream, and then I don’t know what comes next? What if there’s nothing left for me to aim for and I have no reason to keep going? A thought makes me wonder; what if we all have nothing left to live for?

Maybe the answer isn’t about having a dream or a purpose. Maybe it’s about accepting that I don’t have all the answers right now or I never will. Maybe the goal is just to share what I know, what I’ve felt, and what I’m still learning. That might be enough to find my way out of this uncertainty. Maybe, just maybe, that’s enough to keep me moving forward. I hope it is.

As part of the Pyagsawitan Festival and the 47th Araw ng Maragusan, a Job Fair: One Stop-Shop was set at the Maragusan Municipality Dome, today, November 19, 2024. The event aimed at providing employment opportunities for job seekers in Maragusan, including the alumni of Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC).

Organized in partnership with Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and DDOSC's Student Welfare and Job Placement Units, the job fair featured esteemed corporations and agencies such as MAANYAG International Manpower Corporation, Shinjiru Japanese Language Training Center, DOLE, DMW, Magrow Multi-Purpose Cooperative, VXI, 1st Valley Bank, LYR Marketing Services Inc., Fubu Crissa Freego Store, PhilHealth, SSS, Pag-IBIG, Banko BPI, and more.

In addition to providing access to employment opportunities, the program is a stride in promoting community development and growth during the town's joyous celebrations by matching candidates, including DDOSC alumni, with respectable employers.
