The Land Transportation Office (LTO) released on Tuesday, March 26, a scheduled renewal of motorists for them to claim their respective plastic card-printed driver’s license following the lifting of the injunction order of the Court of Appeals (CA).

The completion of the schedule was in compliance with the directive of LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II to rush the schedule in order for motorists to start claiming their plastic-printed driver’s license next week in time for the end of the long Holy Week break.

“Ito naman ang bilin ng ating Department of Transportation Secretary Jame J. Bautista na dapat ay may magandang balita na babalikan ang ating mga kliyente pagkatapos ng kanilang mahabang bakasyon,” said Assec Mendoza.

“So I have already instructed our officials down to the regional level to prepare this list of schedules and finish it before Maundy Thursday. Our goal is to start the distribution process of the plastic-printed driver’s license next week,” he added.

Based on the LTO memo, the following schedule for renewal are approved:

For driver’s licenses with expiration dates from April 1 to August 31, 2023 and April 1 to April 30, 2024, they are scheduled to renew their licenses from April 15 to April 30, 2024;

For driver’s licenses with expiration dates from September 1 to December 31, 2023 and May 1 to May 31, 2024, they are scheduled to renew their licenses from May 1 to May 31, 2024;

For driver’s licenses with expiration dates from January 1 to March 31 2024 and June 1 to June 30, 2024, they are scheduled to renew their licenses from June 1 to June 30, 2024.

“Failure of the driver to renew his/her driver’s license within the prescribed schedule shall render the license expired,” the memorandum read.

At least one million pieces of plastic cards were delivered to the LTO Central Office on Monday, March 25, after the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the DOTr and the LTO, through the Office of the Solicitor General, when it lifted the Writ of Preliminary Injunction issued by a Quezon City court last year.

The injunction order, it was recalled, halted the delivery of 3.2 million remaining plastic cards and eventually resulted in the mounting backlog of plastic-printed driver’s licenses which will be around 4.1 million by the end of this month.

With the assured delivery of the remaining 3.2 million plastic cards, Assec Mendoza said they will be able to narrow the backlog gap while the LTO is exhausting all measures to ensure sufficient supply and stock for the entire 2024.

Assec Mendoza said the schedule list was aimed at ensuring that motorists would not flock to LTO offices nationwide.

“The list will ensure orderly distribution. This list will be posted in our LTO offices and in our social media accounts so we appeal to our clients to always keep themselves updated,” said Assec Mendoza.

“Gagawin natin ang by schedule na processing at claiming para hindi magsiksikan sa mga LTO offices and eventually magkaroon ng order ang processing at distribution,” said Assec Mendoza.

Assec Mendoza said he had already instructed the regional directors to coordinate with the LTO Central Office for the delivery of the plastic cards down to the District Offices and satellite offices nationwide.

Wala namang naiulat na overseas Filipino workers ang sugatan matapos ang pagyanig ng dalawang lindol, ayon sa pahayag ng Department of Migrant Workers .

Kasalukuyang binabantayan ng Migrant Workers Offices sa Taipei, Taichung, at Kaohsiung ang sitwasyon upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ang mga kababayan natin.

“Humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa MMDA,” Singson said in a phone interview

“Pinapahanap ko na si (MMDA) Chairman Roman Artes. Magpapadala ako ng P100,000 premyo sa mga nanghuli para ma-encourage sila na manghuli," Singson said.

Agad namang nagpalabas ng kanyang pahayag ngayong araw si Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga kung saan itinatanggi niya ang ulat na pagmamay-ari ng kanyang pamilya ang YKR, bagkus kanyang sinabi na ang nasabing rancho ay government-owned at controlled.

Pero base sa nakalap na impormasyon ng tanggapan ni Sen. Tulfo, paulit-ulit na kumatawan bilang representante ng YKR si Yulo-Loyzaga sa ilang mga kaso kung saan ipinaglalaban niya ang interes ng mga Yulo at ng YKR sa mga nasabing lupain sa Busuanga. Kabilang sa mga kaso ay ang CV Case No. 0024 sa Sandiganbayan at GR Nos. 268140 at 191838 sa Supreme Court.

Binigyang-diin ni Sen. Idol na hindi maitatanggi ni Yulo-Loyzaga ang katotohanan na may interes siya sa YKR dahil kitang-kita ang partisipasyon niya sa pangangalaga at pagdepensa sa YKR. Kahit sabihin niya na pagmamay-ari umano ang lupain ng gobyerno, taliwas ito sa ginagawa niyang pagtanggol ng karapatan ng YKR upang makontrola ang nasabing rancho.

Kaya naghain si Sen. Idol ng Senate Resolution No. 985 kahapon para malaman ang dahilan ni Sec. Yulo sa paulit-ulit na pagdepensa sa interes ng YKR, gayundin para makita ang epekto nito sa kapasidad nya bilang DENR Secretary at pangunahing tagapagtanggol sana ng kalikasan.
