TODAYs Run & Bike : Discipline Over Motivation

I don’t post my workouts to brag or compete with anyone. I post them to inspire, hold myself accountable, and stay disciplined. It’s not about being better than others, it’s about being better than who I was yesterday.

For me, this journey is personal: me vs. me. If my posts encourage even one person to take a step towards a healthier life, then I’ve done my part.

Long Interval Training 🏃‍♂️

Tough session today! I was really pushing hard, trying to hit Zone 5 heart rate, but I couldn’t get there even while running at a 4:05-4:30 pace per km. Most of the time, I was stuck under Index 3-4. 😅

It’s all part of the process, though! Every effort counts. Time to keep grinding and improving. On to the next!

They say training for a triathlon is hard but honestly, it’s not as tough as people make it seem. All you need is consistency, discipline, and heart. Train because you love it and because you want to be the best version of yourself. Don’t just train because it’s trendy or because you want to tick it off your bucket list.

Of course, there will be setbacks like for me, swimming is a huge challenge since I’m a complete newbie. But that’s part of the journey. Every struggle is an opportunity to grow stronger.

Don’t get discouraged by what others say. Yes, it’s hard if you don’t train properly. Yes, you might get burned out if you’re overdoing it, undertraining, or not training the right way. But when you find balance, listen to your body, and stay committed, it becomes an incredibly rewarding experience.

So, start small, stay consistent, and trust the process. The hardest part is just beginning and once you do, everything else will follow. 💪

Today’s Ride:

The plan was a 150km uphill ride to Lion’s Head, Baguio. But unfortunately, I forgot to unpause my watch and lost over 13km on my stats! 😅

Nevertheless, I had a great time riding with a good friend. It was a chill ride & no pressure, no fuss, just pure enjoyment. Funny thing is, we only talked about this ride last night, and it turned out to be such a spontaneous and rewarding adventure.

Sometimes, it’s not about the numbers but the experience and the company. Here’s to more unplanned and stress-free rides!

One of the hardest challenges I’ve faced in training was doing my workouts during a 6-day fast. No sugar, no meat, no rice.. just pure fruits, veggies, and water. Despite the physical struggle, the Lord gave me the strength to endure and finish my runs and bike training.

Here’s what I accomplished under fasting:
🏃‍♂️ Runs: 40+ KM
🚴‍♂️ Bike Sessions: 90km in 3 hours

Every step and pedal stroke was fueled not by food but by faith and determination. Truly grateful for His guidance and strength throughout this journey!

Today’s Run-Bike-Run 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Getting back in shape after being sidelined for almost a month is no joke. Between getting sick and indulging during the holiday season, I’ve found myself back at 79kg from 72kg. It’s been a challenge both physically and mentally, but I know the first step is always the hardest.

Today’s workout was all about reigniting that fire and reminding myself why I started this journey in the first place. Running and cycling aren’t just about burning calories. they’re about regaining control, building resilience, and strengthening my immune system.

I don’t need motivation. All I need is my wife, kids, and friends to be my inspiration. They’re my reason to keep going. Discipline and consistency are the keys to bouncing back and staying on track.

This is a journey, not a sprint. I know there will be setbacks, but I also know the feeling of pushing through is worth it every single time. Time to fuel up, stay focused, and climb my way back into peak shape.

To anyone else struggling to get back into their groove: don’t give up. Small steps every day add up to big changes. Let’s do this!

2024: A Year of Ups and Downs

This year has been a rollercoaster, filled with challenges, victories, and moments that tested my limits. Despite it all, I’m deeply grateful for the people who stood by me, believed in me, and kept pushing me forward on my running journey. You know who you are, thank you for being my strength when I needed it the most.

To my teammates and students: Coaching you has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. While I may be your coach, I’ve learned so much from each of you. Together, we’ve grown—not just as athletes but as a family that inspires and supports one another.

Running is more than just a sport for us; it’s a journey of mutual growth, resilience, and teamwork. Let’s keep helping each other rise, one step at a time, as we face the road ahead. Here’s to the miles we’ve run and the many more we’ll conquer together!

Today’s Run: Fitness Test 🏃‍♂️

After recovering about 80-90% from the flu, I noticed a significant drop in my fitness level. My threshold pace slowed from 4:20 to 4:42 per kilometer.

During recovery, I increased my carb and protein intake without exercising, leading to weight gain from 72.4 kg to 78.6 kg.

It’s clear that illness has impacted my fitness, but I’m determined to rebuild and come back stronger.
