Bantay, Ilocos Sur- In a groundbreaking ceremony on November 6, 2023, the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office I, under the leadership of Regional Director Ronnel M. Tan, unveiled the two different structures of multi-purpose buildings and the Skate Park project set to transform the landscape of Bantay, Ilocos Sur. The newly initiated facility, known as the "Multi-Purpose Training and Instructional Facility/Meeting Incentives Conferences for Education, Sports Building, and Primary Health Care Centers," will help the local community to improve their quality of life.

The ceremony was attended by several key figures, including DPWH Ilocos Norte First Assistant District Engineer Angelito A. Dian, the Project Engineer, who also represented RD Ronnel M. Tan, llocos Sur First District Engineer Reynaldo S. Organo, Assistant District Engineer Raynaldo R. Ablog, Bantay, Ilocos Sur Mayor Samuel C. Parilla, Vice Mayor Samuel G.F. Parilla II and Municipal Engineer Leonardo Paet.

This innovative project, part of the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) program, focuses on promoting education, sports, and primary health care within the region. The facility is set to address various community needs and will serve as a beacon of development in Dur-as Bantay.

The construction site, spanning an area of 2,496 square meters, will have two distinct structures: a multi-purpose building and a skate park, along with ample parking space. The multi-purpose building features a basketball court, offices, male and female toilets, and a parking lot. It can accommodate up to 1,056 people and offers 55 parking slots. This project will serve as a convenient place for government events and will provide a recreational space for the community. It can also be used as a safe place in times of calamities.

Activities undertaken in the early stages of construction include the removal of structures and obstructions, relocation of existing structures, excavation for rooting, and the installation of steel H-Piles, ensuring that the project is off to a solid start.

The Multi-Purpose Training and Instructional Facility/Meeting Incentives Conferences for Education, Sports Building, and Primary Health Care Centers is set to be a beacon of progress and a symbol of community development in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, as it seeks to enrich the lives of the local residents through education, sports, and health care. The successful groundbreaking ceremony signifies the region's commitment to growth and progress, with the promise of a brighter future for its residents.
