MEET OUR MENTOR!!!
SHAM De FUNK aka Sihaam Cerfonteyn, is an extremely passionate and
dedicated DJ from the Friendly City, Port Elizabeth. She has been in the industry
since the age of 18, her passion for mixing music starting at a young age, which
inspired her to teach herself the art of DJing. At the age of 16, she received her
first pair of decks and for two years, the battle of “learning from scratch” began.
In 2010, Sham De Funk entered The Bay FM Splash Festival DJ Search, a
competition for young and aspiring DJs, where she achieved 2nd runner up in
the finals. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, she received her second residency at
Escobar Night Club where she had the opportunity of spinning the decks for
many tourists and locals visiting the Bay at the time. Sham De Funk tried her luck once again

winner of 2011. This was one of her biggest accomplishments in the industry at the time.
In mid 2011 to April 2012, she had the opportunity of featuring live on a
late night radio show hosted by local DJ, Greg O Gee. Her Wednesday residency required Sham to mix a live set on air that was broadcasted in and around the Bay area. She entered yet another DJ

The Hansa Battle of the DJs.
In 2012, well known female DJ, Lady Lea, invited Sham De Funk to attend national auditions for her Female DJ Agency, Divas on Deck in Johannesburg. She was highly impressed with her hip-hop
skills at the final auditions and Sham was the only DJ that made it for her unique
choice of genre. Her love for Hip-Hop is evident in her sets.
She describes 2013 being her best year of her career. She bid farewell to her
hometown and moved west to Cape Town – A city that’s infamous for its
nightlife. She spent 6 months spinning at many of the leading clubs where she
earned her recognition with a fan base of 3000 people. Sham entered her very
first National Competition, SA DJ Championships, where she made it into the
regional finals of the Western Cape. In the final leg of the competition she was awarded a residency at the venue that hosted the prestigious event after the
club owner of THE LOOP Night Club, Vaughan Guy Cragg, was highly impressed
with her battle performance.
October 2013 Sham made her second move in her career where she moved abroad. She has had the honour of playing at Pearl Lounge where she warmed up well known event ***JAMROCK*** & Doha’s official Ladies Night Brand “LIGHTS OUT” for many international acts, as well as many cultural events and boat parties held in The Middle East. After spending a few months in
Doha, Sham officially met her boss who happened to be acclaimed DJ and entrepreneur, Mass
Ramli. Sham then made the move to Dubai to have the opportunity of being
one of the main resident DJ’s at EGO URBAN LOUNGE, playing alongside Dany
