In a spirited event held at Cebu Technological University San Remigio Extension, aspiring educators, school principals, and mentors gathered for the Pre-Deployment Orientation for Pre-Service Teachers on January 24, 2025, Friday. Under the theme, “𝘓𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴: 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘦-𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴,” the event served as a platform for preparing future teachers and their mentors for the challenges and rewards of the teaching profession.

The day-long event brought together key stakeholders in the educational community, including cooperating school principals, mentors, and 87 pre-service teachers. The welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. Roda L. Larga, CTU-SRE Chairman of Instruction. Followed by the Statement of Purpose of the Chairman of BTLED-HE Daanbantayan, Prof. Analyn C. Frasco, emphasizing the importance of empowering pre-service teachers as leaders in the classroom and community.

The morning sessions focused on the teaching internship guidelines shared by Prof. Felixberto T. Lucabon, Jr., Assistant Campus Director. Afterwards, Chairman of Student Teaching, Prof. Braulio M. Diongson, discussed the Cooperating Teachers Guide and Pre-Service Teachers Roles, Expectations, and Guidelines, implying the expectations of pre-service teachers and the pivotal role mentors and school principals play in their development.

During the session, Mr. Pierre Jared Morados, CTU-SRE instructor, presented the 87 Pre-Service Teachers. Thirty-three (33) from Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), thirty-seven (37) from Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics (BTLEd-HE), and seventeen (17) from Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-Math). Thereafter, confirmed by Dean, College of Education, Dr. Vivian M. Arreglo.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the 3rd Pinning and Testimonial Ceremony, starting with a grand entourage with the Pre-Service Teachers from BTLEd-HE, BSEd-Math, and BEEd with their parents/guardians/sponsors, followed by the faculty and staff and guests. After the welcome remarks of Prof. Felixberto T. Lucabon, Jr., Municipality Mayor of San Remigio, Atty. Alfonso C. Pestolante gave a heartwarming, inspirational message.

One of the most highlighted parts is the Nameplate Pinning, a symbolic gesture marking the official commitment of pre-service teachers to the profession. During the ceremony, participants received pins, which served as a visual reminder of their dedication to teaching and leadership.

Thereafter is the entrance of the Light of Education by Roda L. Larga, signifying both personal and professional transformation as the pre-service teachers reflect on the moment when they step into their roles with wisdom and a sense of purpose. It emphasizes the idea that the knowledge they’ve acquired will guide them through their future careers, just as light illuminates the path ahead.

With the lighted candle, pre-service teachers solemnly swear their statement of commitment led by Mr. Jimboy Capangpangan, BSEd-Math 4 student.

Later on, selected pre-service teachers gave their testimonial speeches. Shaira Arce, BSEd-Math 4 student, stated the doubts and challenges faced throughout the years.

“It is a privilege yet a challenge,” Ana Marie Sumayang, BTLEd-HE 4.

“This isn’t my story anymore. But God’s story in me”, Ruchel Cortuna, BEEd 4,

Also, CTU-SRE alumni, Ms. Judith Hempiroso, Mrs. Jovelyn Mahusay, and Mr. Ryan Cañete, gave their testimonial speeches, expressing their gratitude, reflecting on their journey, and acknowledging the support they've received from everyone behind their success. The pre-service teachers were stunned upon hearing that they’d passed the Licensure Examination in just one take and are now serving the government and the community.

After hearing their seniors’ inspirational stories, pre-service teachers sang their solidarity song entitled “I Can.”. Indeed, they can reach their dreams and surpass their capabilities.

As the day wrapped up, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and anticipation, with pre-service teachers and mentors leaving the event ready to embark on the rewarding journey ahead.

These future teachers honed their skills and expanded their knowledge through a series of expertly guided sessions.

On day 1, Mr. Ronclarck Dagohoy inspired attendees to build self-esteem and put their best selves forward, while Ms. Hanimie Sinajonon shared effective strategies for classroom behavior management. Ms. Alleona Ursal emphasized the importance of diversity and self-mastery, and Mr. Pierre Jarred Morados provided insights into TOS preparation and test construction.

Day 2 featured Mr. Sherwin Sanoria's session on classroom structuring, Mr. Jhun Christian Asingua's exploration of the Data Privacy Act and Matatag Agenda 2023, and Ms. Lyle Jane Carbonquillo's critical discussion on sexual harassment. Dr. Roda Larga concluded the seminar by instilling the significance of work ethics in the workplace, a key to success for pre-service teachers.

Thus, the seminar-workshop not only provided CTU San Remigio's future educators with valuable knowledge and skills but also fostered a sense of confidence and readiness to face the challenges of modern education.
