An 86-year-old beggar was recently rescued by the Cebu City Anti-Mendicancy Office (CCAMO) after it was learned that he had with him P53,000 that he saved after two years of living on alms.
Instead of simply enforcing the law that penalizes mendicants, the CCAMO, concerned for his safety, extended additional help by assisting him in obtaining a health card to secure his savings in a bank.
This compassionate effort by Cebu City Hall employees highlights their commitment to going beyond enforcement and providing genuine assistance to those in need.

All nine business establishments issued show cause orders for allegedly violating the liquor ban during the Sinulog Festival on Jan. 19, 2025, have had their cases turned over to the Cebu City Legal Office, which will decide on the appropriate recommendations.
