In order to acknowledge student exemplary performances in academic and co-curricular activities, Capiz State University (CAPSU) Burias campus honored student awardees during the Recognition, Moving Up and Completion Ceremony on June 7, 2024.

"The road may be filled with challenges, setbacks, and obstacles, but I have no doubt that each one of you possesses the resilience, tenacity, and determination to overcome any adversity that comes your way," Dr. Linan said in her speech as she emphasized the importance of overcoming challenges with determination in order to succeed.

Maintaining high scholastic records and being a staffer of a school publication is a daily grind. One often finds himself torn between what to do first when there are overwhelming classroom assignments and paper tasks. Late nights are often spent writing articles, crafting stories and editing videos and doing the magazineโ€™s layout. It's really a test of patience and perseverance when chasing deadlines driven with the pressure to deliver on time such accurate, and significant contents.

Despite the struggles behind, one's self worth and fulfilment exuberates when he sees his name within the pages of the published school paper. Others may see it as an additional burden to heavy academic workloads, but this is where a writerโ€™s heart find solace and live with such passion. Every word written echoes thoughts and emotions with pens as their voices.

After the three-round battle of answering the easy, average and difficult questions, Cynthia A. Barruga of Hercor College placed first, while Mark Anthony M. Bajada of Capiz State University (CAPSU) Roxas emerged as second.

โ€œI was surprised. I wasnโ€™t really expecting to be called as 3rd placer, the fact that I lacked preparations. I didnโ€™t have any review. It was all stock knowledge. That was because we were so busy with our final demonstration teaching, submission of portfolio for teaching internship and final defense for our research studies days before the quiz bee. But I was still thankful to be one of the winners and very proud to represent CAPSU Burias on that prestigious event. It was really fulfilling to bring pride and honor to my institutionโ€, said Varnal when asked about his thoughts and feelings during the announcement of winners.

Joining Varnal were Jingky E. Abale (BSED English 4), and Sheila Mae M. Banico (BSED Social Studies 4) who represented CAPSU Burias team, together with Dr. Romulo N. Lagon, coach and Dean of the College of Education.

Varnal received 2,000 pesos cash, certificate and a trophy as prizes.

Participants in the said quiz bee included students from CAPSU Roxas, CAPSU Burias, CAPSU Pontevedra, CAPSU Sigma, CAPSU Dumarao, CAPSU Pilar, Hercor College, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, and Filamer Christian University.

Upon this day we stand and remember,
The valor of heroes, their burning ember.
In the face of adversity, they held the line,
Their courage and honor forever will shine.

A day of valor, a testament to their might,
In the darkest hour, they became our light.
Their sacrifice echoes in every heart's chamber,
On this Day of Valor, we pause and remember.

We are thrilled to tell you that now is the right time to express your love and admiration to someone through us. With our activity on February 14, 2024 called "TELL & Express," all the beats of your heart will be aired out.

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Feel free to send a direct message on our official page "The English Language and Literature Club". Whether it's a short message or a long message for someone, we will accommodate it as long as it comes from the heart.

2. If you want it to be read with feelings publicly on Valentine's Day at the Control Tower for everyone to hear, there will be a charge of 5 pesos.
