On the final day of the 40th and 41st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his counterparts attend the Closing Ceremony and Handing Over of the ASEAN Chairmanship to Indonesia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 13, 2022.
The President congratulates the Kingdom of Cambodia for its diligent efforts in steering the Region during its Chairmanship of ASEAN and looks forward to cooperating with Indonesia towards continuing the regional bloc’s Community Building efforts.

The three-day jam-packed schedule of meetings during the Summits concluded with several areas of cooperation tackled and adopted by the ASEAN Leaders and their Dialogue Partners, fulfilling this year’s theme of ‘Addressing Challenges Together’.
2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders, including President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and their Dialogue Partners, participate in the 2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 13, 2022.
Discussion focuses on inclusive economic recovery and building resilient and sustainable ASEAN in the post-COVID-19 era.
This year, the Philippines led the development of the Declaration of the Digital Transformation of Education Systems in ASEAN with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat and UNICEF-East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO). This is to ensure that the youth and peoples of ASEAN will be equipped with the relevant skills, competencies and values in addressing the challenges of the changing and modern world.
Aside from education, President Marcos Jr. pushes for the re-skilling and upskilling of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in digital trade and technologies for wider trade opportunities.
He urges his fellow leaders to support the fast conclusion of the Global Goal on Adaptation work program in responding to climate change.
The ASEAN Global Dialogue is Cambodia’s initiative as ASEAN Chair for 2022. Heads of several global and regional institutions are also in attendance to provide insights and share in-depth views on the way forward for the regional bloc.
ASEAN-Canada Commemorative Summit

25th ASEAN–China Summit
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders convene with Premier Li Keqiang of the People’s Republic of China during the 25th ASEAN–China Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 11, 2022.
The Chief Executive looks forward to enhancing trade between ASEAN and China, as well as to further promote the interest of the Region and its Dialogue Partner.
His Excellency Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, says the Summit is crucial in reviewing the relationship and cooperation between the regional bloc and China that has evolved into a high level comprehensive strategic partnership.

Joint Acceptance, Turnover and Blessing Ceremony of Ground-Based Air Defense Systems and C-295 Medium Lift Aircraft
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. witnesses the joint acceptance, turnover and blessing of various land and air assets acquired by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in a ceremony at the Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga on November 8, 2022.
Accompanied by officials and officers from the Department of National Defense (DND), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Navy (PN) and PAF, the Commander-in-Chief leads the pouring of champagne on the Ground-Based Air Defense Systems and C-295 Medium Lift Aircraft.
According to the PAF, the Ground-Based Air Defense Systems will be used to enhance the country’s air defense posture towards a credible and agile Air Force that is responsive to national security and development.
On the other hand, the C-295 Medium Lift Aircraft is capable of performing a variety of missions such as troop and cargo transports, surveillance and medical evacuation, among others.
Distribution of Various Government Assistance
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. distributes various government assistance to beneficiaries at the Leyte Academic Center in Palo, Leyte on November 8, 2022.
These include monetary aid to recipients of the Rice Farmer Financial Assistance Program from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and one (1) unit of disinfection truck to the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte; monetary aid to beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); monetary aid to persons under the TUPAD Emergency Employment Program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); laptops from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for intended recipients of the Department of Education’s (DepED) Tech4ED Program; and an ambulance for the local government units under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health (DOH).
Earlier today, President Marcos Jr. led the 9th year memorial of Super Typhoon ‘Yolanda’ (international name: Haiyan) that ravaged large parts of the Visayas and other areas, claiming the lives of more than 6,000 people.

72nd Birthday of the Philippine Marine Corps Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City November 7, 2022
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. honors the historic and distinguished legacy of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) as he graces its 72nd birthday celebration at the Naval Station Jose Francisco in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on November 7, 2022.
Accompanied by officials from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Department of National Defense (DND) and PMC, President Marcos Jr. leads the awarding of various individuals and the ceremonial cutting of cake during the event. He also receives a memento of ‘Ginunting Bolo,’ a principal bladed weapon of the Filipino martial arts ‘Pekiti-Tirsia Kali’ used by the PMC which is also its official weapon during close hand to hand combat fighting.
With this year’s theme, “Team Marines @ 72: Katuwang ng Bawat Pilipino tungo sa Mapayapa, Maunlad at Nagkakaisang Bansa,” the PMC commemorates its notable achievements established by its forefathers in the past seven (7) decades. In a Facebook post, the Philippine Marines reassures its commitment to stand by with the Filipino people in pursuit of peace and development.
