Disclaimer: I ask a permission to the person's involve and let that person's made a review with this one, before this one goes publicly. I would like to refer to this person as May.

May ask me if I could be her reference, and without thinking I said "yes". And that same day HR call.

HR: How you know the candidate?
Me: We work together on a project.

HR: How was your relationship working with her? And how she work?
Me: At first I find her slow and didn't know why, and doubted her work. Which sometimes we don't meet the deadlines on time. But then I see why, and its because she analyze everything first and make things are in order. Because of that we never get so much trouble and errors on that project.

HR: What are her strength's and weaknesses?
Me: Priorities and Families

Also the HR ask me about her family background where I tell them that "I really don't know her that well", then we proceed.

HR: Can you rate her 1 out of 10?
Me: 8.5

And then I added that, "my previous rate with her was less than 8 on her previous employer, but we get on board on a project again and it does'nt take so long for her to improve her skills and how she work. She's not fast learner but her willingness to learn and to improve was one of her specialty".

HR: How would you recommend May?
Then I said a joke to the HR that "I wouldn't recommend her to you because I want her too on my company but she don't want to, and I don't have something to say to recommend her because if you think she's a good candidate then hire her if not then tell her." but I mean what I said.

Then the conversation was ended in thanking each other for the time etc.

In this context, I genuinely believe that she is a suitable candidate for the job. However, I also want to ensure that the company has a comprehensive understanding of her strengths and qualities, rather than presenting her as perfect by exaggerating or fabricating positive attributes that may not be true. It is important to convey what I genuinely see in her that others may have overlooked or not fully recognized.

Sometimes, if we judge someone solely based on what we have seen or heard about them and then proceed to reject them on those grounds, we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to witness their true capabilities. It is important to give individuals a chance to understand why they were initially rejected, as this can provide them with an opportunity for improvement or to rectify any behaviors that do not align with expectations.
