JUST IN: Badminton players of SMSI won in the conducted Friendship Youth Badminton Tournament held today at Barangay Palo Alto covered court, near barangay hall.

Rylee Benj Saรฑosa and John Lei Alano won for the beginners' category, while Steven Melanio and Dan Iรฑigo Tapia won second for the same category.

David Aldus Solomon, also from SMSI, won with Mr. Joel Viray first runner-up for professional category.

Barangay Laguerta celebrates its festival

LAGUERTA, CALAMBA CITY--Parades and festivities are around Barangay Laguerta as it celebrated its festival today.

Marching bands and mascots made the festival more colorful.

Every January 30, Barangay Laguerta celebrates its festival, in observance of the feast day of its patron saint, St. John Bosco. The barangay parish of St. John Bosco also prepared activities for its parishioners.

The barangay government and Sangguniang Kabataan of Laguerta also prepared activities in celebration of the said festival, with battle of the bands being one of its activities.

Due to the observance of the said celebration, SMSI cancelled its classes today. Not to mention, a large number of students studying in SMSI are from Barangay Laguerta.

Good day, Southhillians!

In observance of the Christmas season, please be informed that there will be no classes, onsite and online office transactions from December 20, 2024 to January 5, 2025. All classes and office transactions will resume on January 6, 2025.

As you spend time with your family and loved ones, may the true spirit of Christmas and the holiday season be with you all. SMSI wishes everyone a joyful and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Usually, the feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated on December 8; but this year it was transferred to December 9.

The celebration was changed because the date of the said feast falls on the second Sunday of Advent, or the time for the Church to prepare toward the celebration of Christmas. In this case, the celebration of Advent is given more importance.
