𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

In response to the nationwide implementation of the Department of Education's (DepEd) "Catch Up Fridays" learning intervention program, Peñablanca National High School (PNHS) has successfully incorporated this initiative into its weekly academic routine.

The school, committed to fostering comprehensive education, dedicates half of every Friday to reading and the other half to values, peace, and health education.

DepEd Memorandum 001 s. 2024, which officially rolled out the "Catch Up Fridays" program nationwide on January 12, has found enthusiastic adoption at PNHS. The program aims to boost literacy levels and enhance holistic development by dividing Fridays into two essential components.

Teachers employ a two-pronged approach involving activities such as flash cards, singing songs, and interactive games to activate learners' prior knowledge. Subsequent reading time is dedicated to visualizing scenes, identifying main ideas, and developing comprehension skills. The variety in activities aims to prevent monotony, ensuring engagement and effectiveness.

The goal is not just to teach children to read but to instill a love for reading and learning.

PNHS' teachers also incorporate monthly themes prescribed by DepEd, providing students with lessons on positive and negative peace, public order and safety, intercultural relations, and social justice and human rights. This approach aims to nurture responsible and empathetic citizens.

Diligent tracking of student progress at PNHS reveals marked improvements in reading proficiency and a deeper grasp of values, peace, and health concepts. The Catch-Up Fridays initiative proves instrumental in tackling educational challenges, notably contributing to the advancement of literacy rates.

As PNHS takes flight with Catch-Up Fridays, it's not just about closing the textbooks; it's about opening doors to a holistic education.

Here, the mantra is more than words—it's a soaring ambition. 'Soaring High for Excellence, where Quality Education is a Culture' isn't just a saying; it's the rhythm of success echoing through our halls.

The PNHS Women's Volleyball Team ruled the court against the Mighty Eagles during the 2024 Municipal Meet Volleyball League.

Ellizha Palad led her team on top with 8 attacks and 3 aces in their game today held at Peñablanca National High School.

The champions sealed the intense match with a 2-0 run against the Eagles. PNHS Women's Volleyball Team will advance to the Pre-Provincial meet that will be held at Solana, Cagayan.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 | PNHS commemorates its 51 years of service through Founding Anniversary Celebration

Peñablanca National High School celebrated its 51st Founding Anniversary, bringing together 2193 students, dedicated staff, and visitors to honor the rich history of the esteemed institution at the school's gymnasium on December 11.

Under the theme "Pattaradday anna Pappabalo ta Pammakappianan na PNHS," the celebratory atmosphere reflected gratitude and pride for the school's enduring commitment to excellence.

The program commenced with a heartfelt prayer led by Mrs. Diana Dalman, Teacher II, seeking success for the day's events, followed by Mr. Frank Ballon, Teacher II, leading the singing of the National Anthem.

Mrs. Joycelle S. Tubay-Macarilay, the mother of the institution, extended a warm welcome, inviting all to partake in the five-day celebration of the founding anniversary.

The school's significant history was eloquently recounted by Mrs. Maggie T. Guzman, Teacher III, emphasizing PNHS's journey as a training ground for quality students.

Afterward, Mrs. Precy L. Cauilan introduced the Guest Speaker, Hon. Zenaida Leones, one of the pioneer teachers of PNHS and now the incumbent Barangay Captain of Camasi.

Mrs. Leones shared her experiences as one of the first teachers of this institution and delivered a message in which she uttered, "We must not stop, because we make greater things and achieve bigger things."

An inspirational message was given by Mr. Dives B. Tamayao, the Human Resource Manager of LGU Peñablanca, praising the school for creating a legacy of producing successful individuals.

Lastly, Mr. Davis Lagundi, Head Teacher III, concluded the program in his closing remarks. The program was skillfully hosted by Mr. Romel Maribbay, the coordinator of Grade 12.

Indeed, the founding anniversary is a great moment to cherish the excellent service that PNHS has offered to every student, as this is where quality education is a culture, worthy to be celebrated.
