A Call to Repentance: God's Warning to All
Only God truly knows whether this is a form of divine discipline or the work of the enemy. As believers, we are not the judges of anyone's soul, for judgment belongs to God alone (Romans 14:10-12). What is certain, however, is that God is sovereign, and nothing happens outside His control (Proverbs 19:21).
We must understand that tragedies and calamities often serve as warnings and calls for repentance. Jesus Himself taught this in Luke 13:1-5 when He reminded the people that disasters should lead us to examine our own hearts and turn back to God. He said, "Unless you repent, you too will all perish."
Instead of speculating about whether this is God's wrath, we should humble ourselves, reflect on our lives, and turn away from sin (2 Chronicles 7:14). This is a moment to seek God earnestly, pray for those who are suffering, and intercede for their salvation.
Jesus taught us to love and pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44), showing mercy as God has shown mercy to us. Let us also pray for the innocent—children, animals, and those who are caught in the midst of these events.
But let us not miss the greater message here: this is a wake-up call. God is holy, and He will not tolerate sin indefinitely (Romans 1:18). He desires that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
Take this as an opportunity to examine your own heart. Have you turned away from sin? Are you living a life that honors God? Do not delay—today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Let us humble ourselves before the Lord, repent of our sins, and pray for revival, not only in our own lives but in our communities and the world. God is patient, but His patience will not last forever. Let this warning stir us to action: to seek Him wholeheartedly and share His truth with those who are lost.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Turn to God, for He alone is our refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).
