𝐄𝐌𝐑 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐑𝐂 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞
MARAGUSAN SPORTS COMPLEX, DAVAO DE ORO - After 2 years since its launching, the 2nd Regional Scout Venture Camp and 2nd Regional Rover Moot finally begins today from December 20-23, 2024 led by the Regional Chairperson, Wilfredo B. Granada, LT and the Local Government of the Municipality of Maragusan.
Amassing a whopping number of 2,334 scouts from all over Eastern Mindanao Region, attended by the following councils of Agusan (134), Agusan del Sur (54), Cagayan de Oro (67), Cotabato (161), Davao City (347), Davao de Oro (415), Davao del Norte (279), Davao del Sur (196), Davao Oriental (258), General Santos (35), Misamis Oriental (154), Sarangani (23), South Cotabato (44), Surigao del Norte (114), and Tagum (53).
The opening ceremony was honored with the presence of Governor Dorothy M. Gonzaga, represented by Mr. Dennis Anduyan the Executive Assistant by the Governor. “Be the light that guides, be the example of genuine leadership and service,” he notes. Anduyan additionally welcomed the scouts in attendance, and highlighted the tenets of Davao de Oro which was transparency, accountability, justice and fairness.
Although the event was almost postponed by an abrupt moratorium by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines due to recent incidents – which was later clarified by the National Office Memorandum No. 91 to continue on its implementation.
Furthermore, RC Granada also emphasized the region’s resiliency and integrity to push through the Venture Camp and Rover while implying to enforce precautionary measures to maintain safety. He also noted that the LGU has already spent resources for its preparations.
He emphasized that through the RSVC, the scouts are able to abreast themselves of new knowledge from the experience they go through within the span of 4 days in the Jamboree. “Each participant is a classroom, remember that… why? Because it is here [in the camp] that you will share, not only your experiences but skills to your co-scouts.” He was there to remind scouts the importance of the spirit of volunteerism in the scouting movement.
Lastly, it was then formally declared open at 10 o’clock in the morning by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Angelito J. Cabalquinto, Camp Chief.
