This is my #1 Reminder / Tip to people planning to visit a new country or place - always set your expectations to minumum- dahil lagi naman talaga meron at meron hndi maganda na makikita or mangyayari sa isang lugar, so at least kung mababa lang ang expectations mo, hndi ka malulungkot or manghihinayang. And on the other hand, mas masaya pag nalagpasan un.

𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆?
There are several ways to reach Montenegro depending on where you are coming
1. You can fly to Podgorica Airport that welcomes most international arrival, or you can fly to Tivat Airport if your coming to some EU countries.
2. If Montenegro is not your first stop in the Balkan region, you may start your travel from Serbia, Albania, Croatia or Bosnia I Hercegovina. Buses and trains are commonly used to transfer between these countries. Flights are also available.

I came from Belgrade Serbia as my first stop (see trip report here) and took a flight to Podgorica. My main destination in Montengero is Kotor. If i should have known earlier, i would have taken a flight to Tivat instead of Podgorica. Tivat is nearer to Kotor or Budva.

Flight was about an hour only. If you will travel by land, it will take about 9-10hrs by bus. I got my flight thru Air Sebia for 60€ one way, i found cheaper airfare around 40€ but hndi tugma sa scheduke ko. Bus ticket is half the price at 30€. So kung maka grab ka ng 40€ flight, so bat ka pa mag bus.

𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒂 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒚

Philippines passport holder needs to have a visa before arriving in Montenegro. But if you have a valid Schengen, US, Japan, Australia, Canada, NZ, or UK, you can pass through Montenegro and stay up to 30days.

I used my US Visa to enter Montenegro, upon arrival sa airport, tinanong lang ako kung may visa ako, and I answered I have a valid US visa, and thats it, tatak, Welcome to Montengero, Enjoy your stay. 😁

𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒔:

Podgorica Airport
- unfortunately, there is no available public transport from the airport terminal that can bring you to city center or to reach bus station for your trip outside Podgorica. Taxi is available for 15€ which is already good for up to 3 persons, so pag solo ka medyo pricey talaga sya for a 20min drive.
- Most tourist only enter thru Podgorica airport with main destination on the southern part of the country like Kotor, Budva or Bar. From the main bus station in Podgorica, several trips are available throughout the day. You can buy ticket online or in the station. They only accept CASH (Euro)

- there is a train station about 20mins walk from the airport terminal going to Podgorica center pero walang timetable kaya medyo mahirap pag my hinahabol kng next trip. 1€ lng ang ticket.

Based on the location of Montenegro, mas akma talaga sya as summer destination, andami nilang beach resorts since they are located in the Adriatic Coast. I visited Kotor last March and still winter season kaya di nakapag beach, still enjoyble minus the rain.

🚕 took a taxi from Podgorica Airport to main bus station, pre arrange na ung taxi ko which is just almost same price pag daw dun ka pa kumuha, less the hassle of haggling and waiting. 15€ per car, so if my kasama ka, hati hati kayo up to 3 passengers. If my luggage ka, you need to pay extra 1€ sa driver para ilagay nila sa compartment ung maleta mo, hndi sya pede sa loob ng bus.

🏩Accommodation

I stayed in Hostel Pupa, sa mga sanay mag hostel, this one is highly recommended, it has fully equipped kitchen that i enjoyed using, nakapag luto ako ng ilang beses, 😁
Cleanliness is 👌. Location is perfect, it is outside the old town wall but tapat lang din naman, 3mins walk nasa loob ka na ng old town.
Staffs are very accommodating. Panalo din sa view ng St. John Hill Fortress pag gabi.

I paid €60 for four nights in a 4-bed dorm.

𝑫𝒂𝒚 2 𝑲𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑶𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒐𝒘𝒏

Weather forecast was not good, overcast clouds and scattered rainshowers, kya habang wala pang ulan, inakyat ko na si St. John Hills Fortress, eto din naman talaga ang planned date ko for fortress kasi eto ung day na may naka dock na cruise ship, pandagdag background 😂

Entrance fee is €8.
The hike to the top of the walls is a steep 1,200 meter ascent made by going up, and up, and up over 1,350 steps. So bring your water, pero may nagtitinda naman ng drinks sa taas - beer soda water.

Went back to old town bago ako inabutan ng ulan. So back to barracks na muna ulit.

Lunch in Old Town, dami options pili ka na lang.

𝑫𝒂𝒚 3 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒈 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒊 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒕

Better weather ahead. I did a day trip to Herceg Novi, another coastal town of Montenegro. The trip is about an hour from Kotor, €5 bus ticket.

- Promenade

If you visit Montenegro during summer months, June-Sept, sure na hindi mo pede mamiss ang mag beach. Malamig at maulan ng punta ko, sayang 😒

Perast is also a small coastal town, which is just 20mins away from Kotor, there is a public bus that runs between Kotor and Perast which makes it a quick side trip.

I stopped by in Perast after my visit in Herceg Novi, i took the bus going back to Kotor and informed the driver that i need to get off at Perast, the bus from Herceg Novi does not get into the main town but they can just drop you in a bus stop along the hiway which just few minutes walk to the main town of Perast.

𝑫𝒂𝒚 4 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒗𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒑

My plan was to visit Budva which is about an hour bus ride from Kotor, however, hindi nakisama ang panahon, it was raining the almost the whole day.

My supposed to be day trip tuned to be a chill and netflix day inside the hostel.

When the rain stops late afternoon, bumalik na lang ulit ako sa Kotor Old Town ung mga sulok sulok na alley and at the same time bumili ng konting souveniers.

𝑨𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒊𝒑𝒔:

🏖️I highly recommend to visit Montenegro during summer months (June-Sept) for a better weather since it is a coastal town and more known as a beach destination.

🥩Must try ang Steak and Bbq at Tanjga - solid cheap ansarap at big servings. May mga cevapi din sila.

📆Sundays are non working days in Montenegro kaya halos lahat ng shops sarado even supermarkets.

Sahara Desert bucketlist ✅

Seeing the dunes from afar while we are still in our car makes me feel in awe already. That signature orange brown colored-sand towering up to a hundred meters and stretching vastly across the Moroccan desert is such a sight to behold.

We watched the sunset, camped overnight, welcomed by Berber hospitality, enjoyed the beautiful sunrise while riding a camel and of course an extra adventrure of driving an ATV going up and down the dunes.

Another core memory to treasure🙏🏼

PASSENGERS WHO INTENTIONALLY TAKE THE ASSIGNED SEAT OF OTHER PASSENGERS DESERVE TO BE OFFLOADED!!!

A recent video showed a passenger who intentionally took the assigned seat of another passenger and reacted violently when the cabin crew instructed him to return to his proper seat. After reading the comments, I noticed several stories of passengers intentionally taking someone else's seat and then becoming aggressive when asked to move. Such behavior can cause chaos in the cabin, potentially leading to fist fights or even threats.

There are some passengers who feel entitled enough to believe they have the right to take someone else's assigned seat. These unruly passengers often become angry and issue threats to the passenger whose seat they took. Airlines should treat this behavior as a threat to the safety of other passengers and the flight itself and offload the unruly passenger if necessary.

Passengers are assigned seats for various reasons. When you check in, you can request certain seats like a window seat or to sit with friends or family members. If you want to exchange seats, it's best to inform the cabin crew first instead of taking someone else's seat intentionally.

Furthermore, some passengers pay extra for particular seats, and they might have pre-ordered in-flight meals. There are other reasons why you can't just take any seat at will, especially when seats are assigned.

It's not just about saying, "You can take my seat; it's the same thing." If it's the same, why did you take someone else's seat in the first place?

Please stick to your assigned seat and do not be an entitled, unruly passenger. The last thing airlines want is another "Thrilla in Manila - Aircraft Edition."

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE AMONG UK, ENGLAND, GREAT BRITAIN.

Some people and indeed all over the world, including well travelled, often confuse England, United Kingdom and Great Britain.

England is a country just like Ghana and its capital is London just like Accra is the capital of Ghana.

Great Britain is a collection of 3 countries which came together as one country and has its capital as London. Those 3 countries are:

1. England,
2. Scotland
3. Wales.

When you include Northern Ireland to these 3 countries, they become United Kingdom (Union of four nations)

1. England,
2. Scotland,
3. Wales, and
4. Northern Ireland.

That is why it is referred to as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Collectively, the four are taken as one country. And when this is the case, London is its capital.

Note however that these four individual nations all have their own respective capitals.

Accordingly, the capital of

Scotland is Edinburgh,
Wales is Cardiff;
Northern Ireland is Belfast.
England is London.
