Bitfrost Tournament Report
IGN: XarZuz
Format: Single Elimination, Bo3 Single Deck, with Sidings
Deck: Evil Eye

Rd 1: Bye ⭕⭕
No opponent
Rd 2: Lunalight ⭕⭕
My opponent summoned Leo Dancer, which is both untargetable and indestructible. In response and play around to it, I summoned Nightmare Shark to perform a direct attack for 2000 damage. In the next turn, when my opponent attempted to attack Nightmare Shark, I responded by bouncing Nightmare Shark. Following that, I summoned Nightmare Shark once again and attacked for game. The second game followed a similar pattern.
Rd 3: Raidraptor ⭕⭕
My opponent set up Evolzar Solda and two backrow cards, Chalice and Lance. I play around the board and was able broke their setup. In his turn, with my opponent lacking resources, was not able to recover. Turn 4 I proceeded to pop some of their cards and then attacked for game. In game 2, I went first, set up my field. Although my opponent forced me to use up two of my resources with minimal interaction, I initially thought I might lose. However, I managed to secure a lucky victory with the help of my field spell.
Finals: Dragonlink ❌⭕⭕
Game 1: I drew a lot of hand traps but no starter, so I managed to stall the game out. However, by turn 3, I still hadn't drawn into a starter, and forfeit
Game 2: My opponent assembled a strong board with Lancea, and at that point, I felt like I would only secure second place. Miraculously, I was able to play around their board and break some of it, then setup my own. Then, my opponent seemed to disconnect, resulting in a time limit win for me.
Game 3: I had the opportunity to go first this time and set up my usual board. I had Crow this time, but unfortunately, I misplayed badly by not recognizing that Borrel skill could extend their plays effortlessly with my Crow interaction. Despite my misplays, I was fortunate enough to secure the win and claim the championship placement.

Thank you very much po to the Duel Legacy group for featuring Bitfrost Tournament, especially to Sir Jeff and Sir Christian Layug. I sincerely appreciate and am thankful for the tournament. Well played to my opponents whom I competed against :))

Master Duel narrative:
Deck: Phantom Knights
After experiencing brick hands and poor openings with Evil Eye during the WCS 2024 Qualifiers, I've decided to return to playing Phantom Knights this season as my backup main deck. You might wonder why I don't use the Horus engine with PK. The reason that I prefer the pure PK build with a small Level 3 engine over pile PK is that, imo, the pure PK board is still strong. I also prefer a lot of handtraps since my build features 13 handtraps. These handtraps allow me to disrupt my opponent's plays even in my turn 0, and if I wasn't able to setup my board due to Maxx C or an unfortunate interruption, I can still interrupt them. I also have better chances in matchups where Maxx C resolves, since my build allows me to draw more handtraps naturally.

Duel Links narrative:
Deck: Evil Eye
I decided to continue playing Evil Eye this season because it's one of the few decks I have in my Duel Links library. At first, I attempted to reach KOG with my newly built Plants/Sunavalon deck, but unfortunately, I wasn't successful with it. I switched back to Evil Eye and managed to climb to Legend 4 fast, so I stick with it until I reached KOG.

To optimize my Evil Eye deck this season, I removed the MST and other backrow removal staples. I also trimmed down the engine cards, like Medusa and an extra copy of Basilius, to create a slim 20-card build. In removing those cards, I added handtraps to the deck over to backrow staples since the meta rigt now is very fast, and I just opted to play around to backrow better over to commit to backrow hate staples. Since I don't have Effect Veiler or Lancea on hand, I opted to use Skull Meister as a substitute. Even though it seems to be a bad choice or substitute, it's proven quite effective in matchups against Shiranui, Zombie, DarkFluid, and others, so it's not a dead card by any means.

All my decklist and articles will be posted in my YT channel, MDM (Master Duel Meta) and DLM (Duel Links Meta) websites.

XarZuz here again, playing Evil Eye in Master Duel. This run has been kind of meh for me. I grinded hard on the last day before Stage 2, but fell short of reaching DL 19. I've been frustrated and just decided I'll give it another shot before the event ends. I wouldn't recommend playing this deck this season if you have better options available. My main issue has been that I insisted on running the Crystal Beast package, thinking it would great since it enable a one-card combo. The problem is, you have to run 2 garnets and Foolish Burial Goods is limited. Despite this, my stubbornness led me to keep playing the package. It worked out well in some scenarios, especially when I opened with Burial Goods and no other Evil Eye cards. You might say the Crystal Beast package is worth it in those situations, but man, most of the time I draw the emerald garnet, which is so frustrating. When I grind, I also tend to draw undesirable hands, which leads to losses. One time, I drew the 2 Gorgon and no starter, making the game unplayable.

The kit is a bit underwhelming right now against the best deck especially since Fire Kings benefit from your destruction, and in RACE, you have a good matchup but only when you go first, since RACE struggles when they can't target your monsters.

Master Duel and Duel Links May 2024 Rank Report
MD Rank: Master
DL Rank: King of Games

MD Narrative:
I decided to play Live Twin Spright this season over to my Evil Eye since I keep bricking with Evil Eye in my Diamond 5-4 ladder. I decided to try and play Live Twin Spright this season for that reason. The deck I can consider good not top tier but good, most of the time you have this 1 Pop, 1 ST Negate + Elf setup with 1 card, while 2 card combo can add additional monster negate, with Live Twin being a good synergy for Spright to feed its tribute cost and just an overall good synergy lvl 2 + card advantage you will get a good deck.

I use Belle over Veiler since Belle is quite valuable, there are just games where Belle interruption is a deciding factor in whether I will win that game. I also dropped the Scythe package since I encountered a game where I got to play 2nd and open Scythe and it didn't go well since I only got 1 HT and lost that game. I decided to drop the package since I feel that the standard board is already enough and more handtraps are better.

DL Narrative:
Got a 75% win rate with the deck (will show in my YT channel as proof). Doing the same as usual, try to setup an untargetable monster with a pop as well as an evil eye defeat. If you can extend further, you can add Zenmainis to the board. The deck does have strong OTK potential due to the Serziel and Break sword kits. Duel Links bricks me a lot on my road to KOG; I feel like I can reach it early and only in a few matches, but all in all, the deck is still fantastic, and I am hoping I can still keep reaching the highest tier with this deck in this game.

Duel Links Rank Report
Rank: King of Games (from Silver to KoG)
Highest Streak: 12
Deck: Evil Eye

A few months ago, I met some great DL players and a small community about it. I play again, but at a at a casual level only, and I never decide to try to grind its rank.

Suddenly, my favorite deck got its almost 70% card in DL, and it's now playable and can compete. Decide to play it and try to reach its highest rank. I got King of Games rank in the process and got a record of 12 winstreaks, and I still have a 7 winstreak in Legend rank.

IGN: XarZuz
Rank: Master V
Deck: Evil Eye

I was not expecting to reach Master rank this season since a load of schoolwork happened and my midterm examination happened. I'm almost 3 weeks missing in action in Yugioh in general. After midterms were done and I got some free time, I grinded my rank for 2-3 days and got to Master rank again with Evil Eye.

I now use the Foolish Burial Goods and Crystal Beast field spell search packages. Since we have so few pots of cards, consistency gets hit due to these indirect hits. To compensate for that, I run this package. Although you are putting two garnets in the deck, I still run it due to the ability to make foolish burial goods another starter. Another thing is that you still have a droplet. If you draw Salvation, you can dump it using a droplet, and Foolish Burial Goods + Gorgon can also be a starter.

Master Duel Rank Report
IGN: XarZuz
Deck: Phantom Knights
Rank: Master V

Sup guys, XarZuz is here, playing PK for this season. PK is a great deck to pick up; it can end on a good board while still having a great recovery for the next turn, and don't forget, the deck has a good ability to break boards and an OTK kit inherent in the deck. It might not have the strongest board in the game, but the recovery and board-breaking kits it has are really strong, and you have to remember that the kits do have a small engine and, in my experience, are relatively easy to play and master. The small engine and strong recovery of this deck make it unique, as it feels like you are playing a midrange deck but can end on a strong board while still having access to many handtraps and staples.

Most of the time, you will go for 2 lvl 3 in the body to go for Cherubini. You will fill up your graveyard with what the Phantom Knight is missing for the combo, you will usually end on Fog Blade and I:P or Evilswarm Nightmare. You can watch my replay on my YouTube channel to furthur understand the combo.

Just managed to make probably the best board for pure PK, then proceed to get DRNM.

PS. I still won this duel due to how many negates I have in my backrow, and PK is a combo deck that is fine to get DRNM since their setup is composed of Fog Blades.

ORB Effect MD Christmas Non-Meta Tournament
Place: 8th out of 17 participants
Format: Swiss Bo1 and Top Cut Bo3 with Special Banlist
Deck: PK
Record: 3-3

Round 1 RACE ❎
I unfortunately drew a really bad hand, while my opponent executed a full combo. Additionally, I drew 2 garnets of my deck. I also don't have a board breaker. As a result, I lost in the later turns.

Round 2 BYE ✅
My opponent was not able to play in time, resulting in an automatic win for me.

Round 3 Mannadium Pile ❎
Despite setting up my full board when going first, I made a significant misplay. My opponent, on the other hand, displayed great skill and made the right moves to capitalize on the situation. Good game

Round 4 Vaylantz ✅
Ended in my favor due to my opponent disconnecting.

Round 5 Live Twin ✅
An enjoyable match, we engaged in a handtrap to handtrap interaction, but I managed to gain an advantage by using Called by the Grave on his crucial monster.

Round 6 Vaylantz ❎
While I believe I made the best possible play in the first turn, I feel that I failed to make better decisions in the later turns, particularly in the last two rounds.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the anonymous sponsor of the ORB Effect tournament. Your generous support and contribution have made this event possible, allowing participants to showcase their skills and passion for the game.

Despite the challenging matchup of Evil Eye against top decks in the current format, I managed to reach Master Rank with my Evil Eye deck. Overcoming the obstacles presented by Vanquish Soul deck that have the ability to evade target mechanics and Branded Mirrorjade's removal, as well as its strong grind game, has made this my most hard-earned Master Rank yet.
