JUST IN: A fire broke out near the Hangar Market area at the Baguio City Public Market at around 9:30 PM.
Reports said that the city’s fire department already responded and contained the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been identified as of writing.

With the goal to amplify calls for safer student spaces, student organizations in the University of the Philippines Baguio gather for the annual Salakniban at Himnasyo Amianan, November 16.
Salakniban 2024 carried the theme "Tan-ok: Pamantasang Nagsisilbi sa Bayan, Bunga ng mga Iskolar na Hinubog ng Kadakilaan," which recognized university organizations' efforts to serve the public while also celebrating the greatness of both fellow Iskolars ng Bayan and the masses.
The event also featured a variety of performances from the organizations in the campus.

HIGHLIGHTS | Colleges and universities from Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) gather at the University of Baguio for the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Zonal Creativity Summit 2024 bearing the theme “Bayang Pinagpala, Lahing Manlilikha,” held from October 17-18.
Hugpungan: Showcase of Creative Products and Services of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the Regions served as the opening exhibit, followed by different plenary sessions, which encouraged the development of creative and innovative minds through culture integration. The second day commenced with a workshop session and the awarding of the top exhibition entries.
The event was spearheaded by CHED-CAR, with CHED Secretary Prospero E. De Vera III, DPA, as the keynote speaker for the event.

WATCH: Commemorating a year since Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians, students and progressive groups in Baguio City held various events to stand in solidarity with Palestine.
Led by Anakbayan - Metro Baguio, “A Day of Solidarity for a Free Palestine” was held on October 6 at Malcolm Square, featuring protest actions, performances, poem recitations, and a candle lighting.
Meanwhile, Anakbayan - UP Baguio and League of Filipino Students - Metro Baguio, in collaboration with the University Student Council, also held the “Free Palestine Solidarity Night” on October 8 at UP Baguio featuring a chalk art event and a cultural performance night.
The events aim to recognize the historical struggle of Palestinian people.
Since 1947, civillian violence and territorial annexations were commited by the Israeli military, which has only intensified in recent years. Today, more than 9,000 Palestinians have been killed, and 1.4 million have been displaced.

WATCH: The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Partylist - Cordillera, along with the All UP Academic Employees Union Baguio, held a protest action in front of the Baguio Cultural and Convention Center where a Baguio-wide activity for teachers was being held.
The protest called for the entry-level salary for teachers to increase to ₱50k, added benefits, and to condemn the corruption of education funds within the Department of Education (DepEd).
