On July 24, 2024, Domingo Lacson National High School embraced a fresh chapter as it celebrated the turnover of 63 newly repaired classrooms. Amidst overcast skies, the event marked a significant step forward for a school recovering from 2021 Typhoon Odette’s aftermath.
The ceremony began with a symbolic key handover. Dr. Cheryl J. Tondo, PhD, our school principal, along with the department heads, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) President El Kenjee S. Ababa, and Faculty and Employees Association (FEA) representative Herman Limbaga Jr., participated in this poignant gesture, symbolizing a hopeful new beginning.
Dr. Reynaldo G. Gico, EdD, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent, added a note of importance with his presence, reflecting the broader impact of the occasion. Mr. Andrew Porras, the Child Protection Focal Person of Barangay Banago, was also in attendance, emphasizing the community's support for the project.
The renovations, carried out by the DPWH-Bacolod City District Engineering Office and funded by the Government of the Philippines (GOP), have transformed the classrooms into bright, inviting spaces. Additionally, the blessing of a new prayer room, part of the “Three Acts of Goodness” project, underscored the school’s commitment to holistic student development.
As the ceremony concluded, the slightly lifting gray clouds mirrored the school’s optimistic transition into a new era. The refurbished classrooms and facilities stood as enduring symbols of resilience and community spirit, marking the start of a promising chapter for Domingo Lacson National High School.
