Children from various barangays of Bacolod City joined in the Easter Sunday celebration at the Bacolod City Government Center on March 31.

The Easter program, led by Mayor Albee Benitez, brought smiles and laughter to children aged 3 to 12. In a simple celebration at the BCGC grounds, the spirit of family and togetherness filled the air as kids enjoyed the event with their respective families.

The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of the city assisted in facilitating the children's participation, despite the hot afternoon. Several walk-ins were also welcomed, adding to the excitement of the celebration.

In her message, Councilor Danna Marie Barzo, Bacolod SK Federation President, reminded everyone of the essence of the celebration and thanked Bacolodnons for their continuous support of the Easter Sunday party.

Children participated in various games such as "Give Me What I Want," "Longest Breath," and "Catch the Egg." The celebration wouldn't be complete without the annual Easter Egg Hunt, where over 2,000 Easter eggs with corresponding prizes were scattered for the children to find.

Forty-seven kids competed in the Easter Costume Contest, with five receiving top prizes. Best in Easter Costume went to Jerhiana Nicole Casuyon of Barangay Taculing. This is the second Easter Celebration in BCGC for the children of Bacolod.

Pre-School, Elementary, Secondary and Senior High levels are once again encouraged to adopt alternative delivery modes for instructional methods to benefit their students. However, private schools with air-conditioned rooms and tertiary-level institutions may exercise their discretion to continue with face-to-face classes.

The steering committee for the Visayan Leg of the Philippine ROTC Games (PRG) 2024 convened with representatives from Bacolod LGU, SUCs, and PSC for a coordination meeting ahead of the events scheduled from May 26 to June 1.

MGen. Elpidio B. Talja, Chairperson of PRG Regional Secretariat, outlined the necessary tasks, including venue arrangements, budget allocation, and committee establishment. He expressed Sen. Francis Tolentino's enthusiasm for Bacolod to host the event.

In addition, Dr. Nomer Mangulabnan, President of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (host SUC), along with Dr. Raul Alvarez Jr., CHED Regional Director and Co-Chairperson for the PRG, affirmed their commitment to ensuring a successful event in Bacolod.

Themed 'Husay ng ROTC, Husay ng Kabataan,' this year's PRG aims to provide participants with a memorable experience, enriched by the warmth and hospitality of Bacolodnons. Coach Annie Ruiz of the Philippine Sports Commission emphasized their role in supplying equipment and officials for each game to minimize expenses for partner SUCs and LGUs.

Representatives from the Bacolod LGU, including City Administrator Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, reiterated Mayor Albee Benitez’s support for the steering committee. They were joined by Bacolod’s Office of the Youth and Sports Development head Adrian Melocoton, Bacolod PIO Carmela Gamboa, Assistant City Administrator Atty. Allyn Zamora, Atty. Marty Go from the City Mayor’s Office, and DRRMO head Dr. Anna Pornan.

The event will feature athletes from different colleges and universities with ROTC programs competing in 14 sports events, alongside the Search for Miss ROTC 2024.

𝙎𝙇𝙋 𝙋𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 140 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨

March 26, 2024--Another batch of beneficiaries has received their payout for the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

There were 140 displaced OFW beneficiaries belonging to various OFW associations from Barangays Felisa, Punta Taytay, Taculing, and Tangub, each receiving Php10,000.

The assistance they received must be used as an injection of capital for a sustainable project that can be a source of livelihood and will be closely monitored by their association presidents and the DSSD project officer in charge.

Government office work is suspended on March 27, 2024, from 12:00 PM onwards, allowing employees to observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on March 28-29, 2024, and facilitating their travel to and from different regions in the country.

The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers.
