Congratulations to the Cluster IV Chess Team, represented by the Apayao State College, for their outstanding performance in the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary Chess Tournament held from September 25-27, 2023, at the 1st Floor of the Capitol Finance Building in San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.

In the Chess Rapid Tournament, characterized by a deliberate pace with a time control of 25 minutes and a 5-second increment, Mr. Jonathan Bien Domingo (3 wins) and Mr. Valentino Balubal (4 wins and 1 draw) showcased their strategic finesse. Their solid performances contributed to a well-deserved 2nd place finish in both the Individual and Team Categories of the Rapid tournament.

Meanwhile, in the Chess Blitz Tournament, Mr. Valentino Balubal was a standout performer with an impressive 5 wins. Notably, Mr. Marfred T. Sanchez played a pivotal role in this remarkable triumph. He displayed an extraordinary feat by securing a perfect record of 7 wins out of 7 games, all within the time control of 3 minutes and a 2-second increment. His exceptional performance clinched the victory in the Individual and Team Categories of the Blitz tournament, ultimately leading to Cluster IV's overall title win.

The team emerged as the Overall Champion after a thrilling tie-break round-robin tournament against the formidable Cluster VI.

Festival Dance Competition Entices Crowds at Apayao State College - Luna Campus Grounds

Luna, Apayao - May 26, 2023 - Apayao State College - Luna Campus became a vibrant hub of culture and creativity as it hosted the much-anticipated Festival Dance Competition yesterday. The event, which showcased a colorful array of performances from various festivals, drew an enthusiastic crowd of spectators.

The festival dance competition, organized by the college's Physical Education (PE) instructors, aimed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through captivating dance routines. Thirteen groups representing different festivals from all over the country competed for the prestigious titles.

The performances were nothing short of mesmerizing, with each group bringing their unique style and energy to the stage. From the lively beats of the Kadayawan Festival to the rhythmic chants of the ATI-Atihan, the dancers transported the audience into a world of vibrant traditions and artistic excellence.

After a fierce competition, the panel of esteemed judges comprising Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, Dr. Rey Carl V. Arimas, Jaylord Q. Guillermo, Pearl Jane P. Quinto, and Don John Fronda, had the difficult task of selecting the winners.

In a stunning display of talent and dedication, group #13, representing the Panagyaman ken Pinagapit Festival, emerged as the overall champion. Their performance captivated the judges and left the audience spellbound.

The first runner-up position was shared by groups #3 and #5, showcasing the Banbanti Festival and the Pinya Festival, respectively. Both teams wowed the audience with their precision and synchronization.

Taking the second runner-up spot was group #9, presenting the vibrant and dynamic Sinulog Festival. Their electrifying routine left a lasting impression on both judges and spectators.

The third runner-up position was secured by group #4, representing the Manga Festival. Their innovative choreography and visually striking costumes made them stand out among the competitors.

Finally, the fourth runner-up title was shared by groups #11, showcasing the renowned Panagbenga Festival, and #1, presenting the exuberant Kadayawan Festival. Both teams displayed remarkable performances that earned them a spot in the winners' circle.

Adding to the excitement of the event, the competition also crowned the esteemed Ms. Festival Queen. After a glamorous showcase of beauty and grace, group #5, representing the Pinya Festival, claimed the coveted title. The first runner-up position went to group #13, representing the Panagyaman ken Pinagapit Festival, while group #9, representing the Sinulog Festival, secured the second runner-up spot. Apayao State College-Luna Campus witnessed a remarkable display of entrepreneurial spirit as the GE ELEC 08: Entrepreneurial Mind Instructors organized the highly anticipated event, "Tindahan sa Eskwelahan: Future Entrepreneur's Hub" Booth Competition. Held on May 26, 2023, the event provided a platform for students to showcase their innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial skills.

The sprawling grounds of Apayao State College-Luna Campus turned into a bustling marketplace as students set up vibrant booths, creatively designed to represent their entrepreneurial ventures. The event aimed to foster a culture of entrepreneurship among the student community and inspire them to pursue their dreams of starting their own businesses.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the official opening of the event, was graced by esteemed dignitaries. Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, the Vice President for Academics, Research & Development, and Extension Services (VPARDES), along with Rema Bascos-Ocampo, the Campus Academic Dean, and several other college officials, led the ceremony. The "Tindahan sa Eskwelahan: Future Entrepreneur's Hub" Booth Competition drew participants from various disciplines, ranging from business management to education. Their booth showcased an ingenious concept for eco-friendly and sustainable tourism. Project SET Empowers Students to Excel in Sports and Personal Development

In a bid to inspire and empower its students, Divine World High School Inc. recently organized a remarkable extension program titled "Project SET: Sports Enhancement Training." This insightful event, held on May 19, 2023, brought together 37 enthusiastic participants eager to delve into the positive impact of sports participation and explore the key attributes that make an excellent athlete. With resource speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of sports and personal development, the program aimed to equip students with valuable knowledge and skills to excel in their athletic pursuits.

The program commenced with Judel Tabason's captivating presentation on the profound positive impact of sports participation. As a Sports Enthusiast, Tabason emphasized how engaging in sports fosters physical well-being, mental resilience, and emotional balance. He encouraged the students to embrace the valuable life lessons that can be derived from sports, including teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

ASC-Luna – The Apayao State College - Elias K. Bulut (EKB) Auditorium was set ablaze as the highly anticipated Flash Mob/Hip-Hop competition, the first part of the Festival of Talents, took center stage this 5th of May, 2023. Dancers from the different programs upon the institution, transforming it into a vibrant and pulsating hub of Flash Mob/Hip-Hop excellence.

The event featured an extraordinary display of talent with spectators who packed the venue, their anticipation reaching a fever pitch as the day unfolded. The competition showcased the diversity and creativity within hip-hop culture, with dancers bringing their unique styles and storytelling through movement. The performances ranged from hard-hitting, energetic routines to soulful, emotionally charges pieces, each one a testament to the power of expression through dance.

The atmosphere crackled with excitement as the Master of Ceremony, Christopher C. Taguiam, took the stage, rallying the audience and encouraging them to cheer on the performers. The event was not merely a competition but a celebration of the vibrant culture that hip-hop represents.

As the first beats dropped, the audience was captivated by the dancers’ raw talent and sheer skill. The performers left no stone unturned, executing complex moves, breathtaking acrobatics, and flawlessly synchronized routines that left the crowd in awe.

Their victories marked a well-deserved recognition of their exceptional talent and dedication to the hip-hop craft.

However, the spirit of the competition prevailed beyond the winners' circle. Regardless of the final result, every participant walked away with a sense of accomplishment and newfound inspiration. MOA Signing between ASC - BPEd Department and Divine Word High School - Dana-Ili, Incorporated

On May 4, 2023, Apayao State College's Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Department and Divine Word High School - Dana-ili, Inc. came together for a momentous MOA signing ceremony that officially launched their joint initiative, Project SET: Sports Enhancement Training.

Project SET aims to provide sports training to high school students in Dana-ili to enhance their skills in various sports disciplines, promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and improve their overall health and well-being. Mr. Marfred T. Sanchez highlighted the importance of physical fitness and sports in the holistic development of young individuals during the MOA signing ceremony.

Project SET is open to all interested students, regardless of their athletic ability or experience. The program will be held every Friday afternoon and will be spearheaded by BPEd faculty and students.

Preparing for Success: BPEd Department Holds First-Ever Practice Test for LET


On March 17, 2023, the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Department took a commendable initiative by conducting its first-ever Practice Test for first-year BPEd students. This initiative aimed to provide students with an opportunity to prepare themselves for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), an important exam that aspiring teachers must pass to become licensed teachers.

Recognizing the challenge of ensuring a high passing rate in the LET, the BPEd department aimed to simulate the actual exam by covering commonly included topics. This Practice Test equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to confidently tackle the exam, ultimately increasing their chances of success.

The participating students found the initiative helpful and appreciated the experience, and the BPEd Faculty plans to give cash incentives to the top-performing student.

Look| BPEd Faculty and Students Joined the Kick-off Program of the 2023 National Women's Month Celebration at the RDE Conference Hall.

The Kick-off Program of the 2023 National Women's Month Celebration at the RDE Conference Hall brought together faculty and students from various departments, including the BPEd faculty and students. This event is being held in honor of International Women's Day, which is celebrated today, March 8, 2023.

The program began with a welcome remark from the GAD Focal Person, Dr. Reycarl V. Arimas, followed by an inspiring speech from the College President, Dr. John N. Cabansag. The President highlighted the importance of recognizing and empowering women's contributions to society, emphasizing that the College is committed to promoting gender equality.

As part of the program, the BPEd students, Zebedee Basa and Keziah Josh Gangano took the stage, and rendered an intermission number through singing a beautiful duet, showcasing their talents and adding a delightful touch to the celebration.

At the Moment| ASC Conducts Sports and Socio-Cultural Festival (Day-1)

ASC-Luna Campus- After a three-year break, Sports and Socio-Cultural Festival is now officially starting with the theme "Lessening the stigma of the pandemic through Sports, Culture, and the Arts" which aims to select students who will compete in the Dual Meet and Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Meet.

Student-athletes together with the faculty members of the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) joined the Sports and Socio-Cultural Activities to show their support.

BPEd Faculty Members Participate in the 2-day 1st Quarter FY 2023 - RDE Proposal Presentation

Marlyn Asuncion Marcos, a Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) faculty member, presented their research proposal titled “Barriers to Physical Activity of the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Students” which intends to assess the challenges and problems encountered by the BPEd students in their physical activities.

Also, Marfred Sanchez, BPEd Program Chair, presented the proposed extension activity of the BPEd Department titled “Project SET (Sports Enhancement Training): An Extension and Research led Project for Enhancing Sports Knowledge, Skills, and Life Skills among Youths” which aims to hone sports-related skills among out-of-school youths, student-athletes, and sports enthusiasts to help them contribute in the sustainable development of their community through sports enhancement training.

The different programs and units engaged in the recently concluded Presentation of Research and Extension Proposals that was done last 16th – 17th of February, 2023 at RDE conference hall, RDE building, Apayao State, College – Luna Campus, San Isidro, Luna, Apayao.
