Earlier this week, the troupe was named a finalist by the IFSU International Affairs and Linkages through its official page. During the awarding ceremony, the group was officially declared the 3rd Place winner in the Cultural Dance Category B (Recorded).

The ASEAN Fusion 2025 features multiple contested events divided into two categories. Category A, to Ifugao State University, covers competitions such as essay writing, digital poster making, and recorded free speech. Meanwhile, Category B is open to participating ASEAN higher education institutions, both national and international, and includes essay writing, digital poster making, recorded free speech, and recorded cultural dance.

According to Mr. Judel B. Tabason, adviser of the Salin Lahi Pamana Dance Troupe, the inspiration behind the video was to highlight the culture of the Isnag people of Apayao, particularly the Taddo and Say-am. He explained that these traditions are significant expressions of identity that must be valued and preserved. Mr. Tabason also emphasized that through the performance, he hoped to impart to the youth the essence of unity, respect, belongingness, and the richness of Apayao’s cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, the BS Forestry contingent of Kalinga State University emerged as champion, followed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember of Indonesia in second place.

The feat was made possible through the support of College President Dr. John N. Cabansag, mentors Dr. Philip Constantine L. Mandac and Dr. Marfred T. Sanchez, and the creative team led by Judel B. Tabason with Mitzi Gay B. Cayde and Crismel A. Garcia.

Sa kabilang dako, itinanghal namang ikalawang puwesto ang Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd), habang ikatlong puwesto naman ang Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE).

The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Department conducted its first seminar-workshop on sports writing and photojournalism at the ASC-EKB Auditorium on Saturday, August 16, to hone students’ writing skills.

The program opened with the remarks of Dr. Marfred T. Sanchez, BPEd Program Chair, who welcomed participants from different year levels. He expressed gratitude to resource speaker Mr. Nielmer D. Cabacungan and underscored the importance of continuous learning, reminding students to strive for excellence and to acquire skills that will be useful in both teaching and professional practice.

In his lecture, Mr. Cabacungan discussed the fundamentals of sports writing, focusing on key components, structure, and the need for accuracy, clarity, and coherence. He also tackled photojournalism, highlighting principles of composition, techniques for capturing quality photographs, and the value of effective captioning.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Diether John S. Ballinan, BPEd faculty, who thanked Dr. Sanchez for initiating the activity, the college administration for its support, and Mr. Cabacungan for sharing his expertise. He likewise commended the third-year BPEd students for organizing the seminar-workshop.

The seminar-workshop not only enhanced the students’ knowledge of sports writing and photojournalism but also underscored the BPEd Department’s commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities beyond the classroom. With the active participation of students, the guidance of faculty, and the support of the administration, the event was seen as a success in equipping future educators with relevant skills that they can carry into their profession.
