🕊️ Grammy-winning rapper Coolio died on Wednesday after being found unresponsive at a friend’s Los Angeles home, the New York Times reported. He was 59.

Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was best known for his 1995 single “Gangsta’s Paradise,” from an album of the same name.

That song, a massive hit featured in the film Dangerous Minds, won a Grammy Award for best rap solo performance the following year.

Ivey, who was born in Pennsylvania in 1963, began performing as part of the West Coast hip-hop scene after moving to Compton, California.

He released his debut album, “It Takes a Thief”, in 1994, scoring a Top Ten hit with the single “Lakeside.”

🧣 Sure, Queen Elizabeth II was known for her hats, but England's longest reigning monarch really knew how to wear a square of silk.

The headscarf is often worn on more casual, outdoor events, such as watching the Windsor Horse Show. It's not an accessory the Queen has leant into in old age, though. Pictures date back decades and see her sporting vintage and Hermès scarves, riding horse drawn carriages in the 40s, driving in the 60s, and travelling out to visit troops in Germany in 80s.

The Queen's own collection is believed to be a mix of Hermès, vintage pieces, as well as custom options. Some have animal prints like the loveable Corgi, while others are bold and vivid in colors.

It goes a long way in proving the style’s longevity and reliability. Two things the Monarch ceratinly knows a lot about.

Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch, the nation's figurehead and a towering presence on the world stage for seven decades, died peacefully at her home in Scotland on Thursday aged 96.

"The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family," the new king, her eldest son Charles, said.

—Elizabeth, in her first recorded radio broadcast to the entire UK on October 1940. She was just a 14 year-old Princess during World War II when she wrote this impactful message that still echoes true today. She would be crowned Queen 13 years later in 1953.

Thrift stores, or "ukay-ukays", have been the go-to place for Filipinos for bargain clothing. But in a Tuesday senate briefing with customs and finance officials, Senator Raffy Tulfo pointed out a decades-old law prohibiting the commercial importation of used garments to safeguard the health and dignity of the people.

The penalty is a fine of up to ₱20,000 and imprisonment of up to 5 years. The customs bureau says it has confiscated shipments and filed cases against those behind them. Tulfo interjects by saying that thrift stores are still everywhere, with most being smuggled goods operated by syndicates.

Tulfo clarifies that he is not going after the sellers. He even suggests legalizing ulay-ukay. He says taxes collected can be used for social services.

Senator Pia Cayetano has some concerns: "I've seen a documentary where these products are literally clogging rivers in in some African countries and that it's really really bad. I support the call for, you know, revisiting [the law] but really, you have to file a full-blown hearing on this."

In 2014, a bill was filed in Congress to repeal the law, but it did not prosper.

Japanese designer Issey Miyake, famed for his pleated style of clothing that never wrinkles and who produced the signature black turtleneck of friend and Apple Inc. founder Steve Jobs, has died, media said on Tuesday. He was 84.

Miyake, whose name became a byword for Japan's economic and fashion prowess in the 1980s, died on August 5 of liver cancer, Kyodo news agency said. No further details were immediately available.
