She's kind-hearted, open-minded, and well-respected. Her enthusiasm for writing and her desire for the truth have made her an impactful and integral part of our student publication. She also participated in the 2024 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), where she earned 5th place in Editorial Writing. As the highly responsible Editor-in-Chief, who is she? She is Kyriel Ashten A. Yu, and today, she is celebrating another important milestone in her life—happy 18th birthday!

Her figure may be small, but don't let that fool you. She's an approachable person with a voice that is heard. Are you shy? Don't worry—Ate Kyri will always have a willing ear to listen to your problems. You can rely on her to be by your side with immense support. She will never make you feel small and will do her best to uplift your spirits.

Let us welcome our first Clarion birthday of the year—who happens to be one of the most reliable, remarkable, clever and tenderhearted people. She's easy to approach, and amazing to befriend. One of our talented news writers and the president of 9-Watertown, 𝐂𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐢 𝐌. 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐲𝐝𝐚!

Cianna is seen as a calm spirited person that anyone would adore! Simply being around her and talking to her just makes you feel so calm. She has a great tendency to help a lot not just with her class and The Clarion, but to anyone who needs it, becoming a beam of light for those around her.

𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦 | The Clarion’s Literary Folio

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED SHORT STORY IS:

𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀 by Sir Albert P. Esguerra

Sir Albert’s work is a comedic narrative with a dramatic twist that tackles the complexities of unrequited love and timing. Through the protagonist’s heartfelt reflections and clumsy attempts at expressing his feelings, Sir Albert presents a story about missed opportunities, deep longing, and the often painful gap between expectations and reality.

The story is about a young man’s infatuation with a girl who has long since been the object of his affections. He recalls the various moments throughout his life where he tried—sometimes awkwardly, sometimes humorously—to win her attention, but always with a sense of delay or misfortune. Whether it’s his poorly timed jokes or his unspoken confessions, the protagonist constantly faces the bitter irony of not being able to connect with the girl he loves, at least not in the way he had hoped.

As Christmas draws near, “Wrong Timing si Santa Claus” reminds us that sometimes, the love and moments we long for come too late—after the chance has passed. The protagonist's painful journey of unspoken feelings and missed opportunities speaks to the universal experience of waiting for the right moment, only to find it slip away. In the end, he learns that timing is out of our control, but love, though delayed, can still be deeply meaningful.

This holiday season, as we reflect on the true essence of Christmas, let us remember that the magic of Christmas is not in perfect timing or unfulfilled wishes, but in the presence of those we love, and the joy of giving and receiving love, no matter when it comes. Christmas is not just about receiving, but about cherishing the moments we have—and embracing the love we can give today, before it's too late.

Chevalier School, Inc. (CS) celebrated its Guidance Week 2024 with the theme “𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙮” from December 9-12, 2024.

The Career Talk at the CS Auditorium was a day of invaluable learning and inspiration for Grades 10 and 12 students. With career choices and mental wellness at the forefront, students had the opportunity to hear from four remarkable CS alumni: Atty. Arvi Gerard Rivera, Bea Cojuangco-Sebastian, CPA, Luke Gabriel Reyes, RMT, and Roma Angelou Dizon, LPT, who shared their unique journeys and professional insights.

These former Caballeros and Fair Ladies provided firsthand insights into navigating diverse career paths, the importance of personal wellness, and the skills needed to thrive in both professional and personal life.

It was a truly enriching experience, helping our students chart their own successful futures while prioritizing their well-being.

This event is a testament to how CS remains true to its vision and mission for the Caballeros and Fair Ladies.

This week, we embraced the power of self-discovery and empowerment during our vibrant 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, spearheaded by Mrs. Jane Y. Canlas, our High School Guidance Facilitator! 🌟 At the heart of it all was the essential message that 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, and the Guidance Department is here to support every student on their journey.

The ‘Are You Okay? Day’ started with an eye-opening Mental Health Seminar in the Fr. Henry Groenewegen Gymnasium, where students explored ways to nurture their well-being.

💭 Unlocking the doors to mental wellness wherein students explored the healing power of 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 through rhythmic beats, found joy in the movement of 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆, and tapped into their creativity with 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁, 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘂𝗽, and 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹. For those seeking inner peace, 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 provided a calming escape.

As we reflect on this empowering week, let’s remember: 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮. Every student’s mental health journey is unique, and the Guidance Office is always here to offer a listening ear, guidance, and the support you deserve. ❤️‍🩹

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED POEM IS:

𝗘𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗲 by Mariam Cruz

This poem feels like wandering through the ruins of a relationship you once believed in, only to discover that the connection was hollow. The speaker is caught in an unclear situation—battling disillusionment, regret, and the sharp sting of being treated as invisible, like a "mirror with nobody." There's an aching recognition that their own hopes turned into a kind of trap, dreaming of intimacy only to realize they built a house of illusions.

The line “dreamt about a fool" is both bitter and unbinding—a realization that the promises felt real, but they were fragile, deceptive. By the end, “your voice just became too sickening," isn’t just rejection; it’s a declaration of pulling the curtain closed on a narrative that no longer serves them. It’s about unmasking the painful truth, letting the silence settle, and finding strength in walking away from the mirage.

𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦 | The Clarion’s Literary Folio

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED POEM IS:

𝗕𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲 by Kian Pineda

The poem suggests a sense of doubt and a sense of feeling trapped. With focus blurry and persistence thriving; the poem dives in with the point of view discarded in the remnants of distractions and denial.

The poet also expressed how giving up may seem like the easiest option, how facades are needed, amidst to know that something is waiting for them at the end where the lingering burden would soon perish.

However, towards the end of the poem, the tone seems to take a turn to being more hopeful. The one who was once trapped burst free from their bubble, teeming with preserverance to see the future to the end.

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED POEM IS:

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 by Mariam Cruz

This poem dives deeper into the feeling of internal conflict of someone who is stuck in the cycle of temptation and decision, only to realize that the path they had chosen didn’t fulfill their anticipation.

The poet eventually shifts back to reality after discerning that one’s beautiful experiences were actually painful realizations, grasping that what they thought was a moment of beauty was actually a mistake. The speaker acknowledges that something that once held value was now nothing but a mere conflict to hold on to.

It tells us about the internal battles we face where our own enemy is ourselves. The poem emphasizes that we are the narrators of our stories and that each of our decisions have an aftermath. It conveys an introspective reflection of our decisions in life and how they can lead to regret and uncertainty.
