Another CCS Gem spotted

Mark Kevin Castillo, a BSIS 3A Student of UATLMC, joined the Canvas Painting Contest conducted by LGU Tibiao as part of the activities during the opening salvo of the Municipal Fiesta 2024.

When asked why he joined the said contest, Castillo answered that art is one of his passion and even if his contenders are way better than him, it doesn't bother him because for him it's sharing his talent and the consolation he will receive is a big help for his school expenses, a mind set of a student who understand his part not only as a student but as a son.

Though shy to join an Art Club, Castillo is willing to join some contest as such especially if it can help him finamciaΔΊly.

Way to go, kasUbAy!

DAA, GO, and HRMO conducts Teaching to Teach before 2nd semester begins.

Faculty members, both permanent and part-time, attended the "Seminar-Workshop on Teaching Teachers how to Teach Students" organized by the Office of the Director of Academic Affairs, Office of the Guidance Counselor, and the Office of Human Resource Management on February 08, 2024, just days before the second semester begins held at the PE Room of the campus.

The semimar focused not.on the instruction but mostly on how faculty could be a support to students. The speaker - Maam Michelle Rodriguez, Guidance Counselor II of the campus, talked mainly on the three.componenrs which faculty can consider when dealing with students - Emotional, Physical, and Social.

On emotional aspect, it was stressed that these three are to be considered mostly as the unseen and unheard weight on the students to not perform well in class - 1.)mental health which could be anxiety, depression, stress; 2.)family issues which might be the problem of most, and 3.)financial issues which always go side by side with family status and problem for few if not for most.

For social aspect, the speaker gave emphasis on 1.)transition and change, 2.)diversity and inclusion, and 3.)social media influence which is clearly the IT for today's generation of learners.

For academic aspect, what faculty needs to watch out for are 1.)learning disabilities and special needs knowing that the campus is accepting students with these cases, 2.)lack of motivation which may be affected because of factors mentioned in emotional aspect, and 3.)high expectations and pressure.

Self-care was also tackled which plays an important factor mainly for the faculty as explained by the quote shared by the speaker that said - '"Self-care is giving all the best of you instead of what is left on you." True enough that you cannot give what you don't have or you cannot share with an empty cup on your hand.

With those topics, there were things that surfaced about what students are going through and many other instances which explains why students act inappropriately or differently. But at the same time, problems faced by faculty especially with the performance in attendance and tests were discussed. More of these came out during the sharing of faculty from each college after each group talked about problems each faculty have personally experienced.

During the campus director hour, our very own campus director, Dr. Porferio S. Bangcaya, gave emphasis and reminders on classroom management stressing on expectations of both the students and faculty, consistency on handling and meeting the class, positive relationship with students as well as engagement with their concerns, classroom layout and learning environment emphasizing more on arrangement of chairs and cleanliness of the classroom before, during and after using it.

Just right before the seminar workshop ended, the director for academic affairs announced the date of opening of classes for.2nd semester which will be on monday, February 12, 2024, and the activities that the campus is anticipating before the midterm exam date.

With a lot of take aways from the seminar-workshop, almost everyone agreed that the time was not enough for such seminar with that kind of topic which believed to be the first for UATLMC.

Let us be each other's support system.

Padayun!

In the realm of fisheries, Pasupal 2023 stands out as a truly transformative experience for everyone. Beyond the standings, the genuine gauge of success emerges not from rankings but from the invaluable lessons acquired and the steadfast camaraderie fostered among fisheries students.

With college having the smallest population in the campus, it became the rallying cry for students who embraced challenges as opportunities for growth.

The camaraderie among the fisheries students became the bedrock of this transformative experience. Unified by a shared passion for marine life and a commitment to excellence, students forged bonds that transcended competition.

While the college may not have clinched the top spot, the collective spirit of the students elevated the college to new heights. The lessons learned extended beyond the sports, encompassing resilience, adaptability, and the importance of collaboration. The journey of Pasupal 2023 became a testament to the idea that success is not a solitary pursuit but a collaborative effort.

As we reflect on the recently concluded Pasupal, let us not fixate solely on the rankings but celebrate the growth, the bonds formed, and the indomitable spirit that defines the fisheries community. In the grand scheme of education, it is the journey and the shared experiences that propel us forward, making every student a winner, irrespective of the final score

The weight of 14 gold medals not only symbolizes achievement but also serves as a testament to resilience, defining the very essence of triumph in the face of challenges. This substantial accomplishment surpasses the combined tally of other colleges, underscoring not just individual prowess but the collective spirit that propels a community to greatness. In each gleaming medal lies a story of determination, echoing the sentiment that true success is measured not just in weight but in the enduring strength of character exhibited by a fisheries athlete who wears it.

The scarcity goes beyond the student body; it engulfs the faculty and staff who, if humanly possible, invest more than half of their very essence to ardently support and coach each student. The visible strain and weariness etched on their faces attest to the concerted effort and dedication required to orchestrate simultaneous sport events. Such extraordinary efforts however was belittled by the students and school personnels stating that "Fisheries lang ra sanda" not knowing the struggles behind the curtain whilst chirping is good for the parrot, it is a symbol of disability among humans - be more humane educated folks and stop chirping with ci******es on your mouth.

Let us always remember that success is not only measured by the destination but by the path taken to reach it. Afterall, we are one kasUbAy colony.
