TINGNAN: Tinatayang nasa 104 na ektarya ng mga palayan sa lalawigan ng Albay ang nasira ng Tropical Storm Enteng at habagat, ayon sa Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO).

Sa pagtataya ng APAO, anim na ektarya ang totally damaged, habang 98 na ektarya naman ng palayan ang partially damaged. Ilan sa mga palayan na natukoy ng APAO ay mula sa lungsod ng Tabaco at Legazpi, mga bayan ng Tiwi, Camalig at Daraga.

Base sa Damage Assessment Report ng APAO, aabot sa mahigit P1.6-M ang naitalang pinsala ng bagyo sa naturang agricultural commodity.

Patuloy ang isinasagawang balidasyon ng APAO para sa agarang pagbibigay ng interbensyon at asistensya sa mga apektadong magsasaka.

Pumalo na sa mahigit 22,000 pamilya o katumbas ng mahigit 85,000 indibidwal ang apektado ng nagdaang Tropical Storm Enteng sa Bicol Region, ayon sa Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol.

Mahigit 2,000 pamilya o nasa 9,000 indibidwal ang kasalukuyang nananatili sa mahigit 100 evacuation centers sa anim na probinsya ng Bicol. Pinakamarami sa probinsya ng Camarines Sur kung saan nag-iwan ang bagyo ng matinding pagbaha.

Ayon sa OCD Bicol, 187 mga barangay sa buong rehiyon ang nakaranas ng pagbaha kung saan 102 mga barangay ang hanggang ngayon ay lubog padin sa baha at lahat ng ito ay mula sa probinsya ng Camarines Sur.

Iniulat naman ng DSWD Bicol na mayroong anim na kabahayan ang nasira ng bagyo. Dalawa sa bayan ng Mobo, Masbate at apat sa Daet, Camarines Norte. Nasira ang mga bahay dahil sa mga nahulog na sanga at puno kasagsagan ng pananalasa ng bagyong enteng. Gayundin, dalawang flood control at isang tulay ang tuluyang nasira ng bagyo sa bayan ng Mobo, Masbate. Nagkakahalaga ng P200,000 ang kabuuang pinsala sa Bicol sa mga imprastraktura.

Pagdating naman sa estado ng mga daanan at tulay. Iniulat ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bicol na mayroong 9 national road at tulay ang naapektuhan ng bagyo. 3 national road sa Camarines Norte ang hindi madaanan ng lahat ng klase ng sasakyan habang ang iba naman ay one-lane passable lamang. Hindi ito madaanan dahil sa mga landslide na naganap. Sa ulat ng OCD Bicol, mayroong 7 insidente ng landslide ang naganap sa pananalasa ng bagyo.

Sa sektor ng agrikultura, tinatayang nasa 100 na ektarya ng mga palayan sa lalawigan ng Albay ang nasira ng bagyo, ayon sa Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO). aabot sa mahigit P1.6-M ang naitalang pinsala ng bagyo sa naturang agricultural commodity. Patuloy ang balidasyon ngayon ng Department of Agriculture sa naging pinsala ng bagyo sa mga lupang sakahan.

Samantala, aabot sa P7,189,459 na halaga ng mga Family Food Packs mula sa DSWD Bicol katuwang ang mga lokal na pamahalaan ang naipamahagi na para sa mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng Tropical Storm Enteng sa Bicol Region.

Wala namang naitalang pagragasa ng lahar ang Camalig MDRRMO at nasa normal na kondisyon narin ang mga river channels na konektado sa Bulkang Mayon.

Balik nadin sa normal na byahe ang mga pantalan dito sa Bicol. Gayundin ang mga byahe sa mga paliparan.

Samantala, may ilang bayan padin sa Albay ang suspendido klase sa lahat ng antas dahil sa pananalasa ng bagyo.

Sa ngayon, tulong tulong ang lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno at mga residente para sa clearing operations partikular na sa mga lugar na binaha, gayundin rehabilitasyon ng mga nasirang kalsada.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the public that the government is on top of the situation as Tropical Storm Enteng brings flooding and strong winds, leading to the suspension of work and classes in some parts of the country.

In a media interview, President Marcos stated that all concerned government agencies are closely monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm Enteng, while affected local government units (LGUs) are making decisions for their respective areas of responsibility.

President Marcos also emphasized that the government is keeping a close watch on areas expected to experience heavy rains and strong winds until Tuesday.

“So, we are watching it. Ang tinitingnan lang natin sa eskwela, siyempre iba. The LGUs also make – iba-iba — the LGUs make their own decision with that except if there is a region-wide assessment na hindi pwedeng pumasok,” President Marcos said.

“Sa trabaho naman, ang tinitingnan lang namin ay kung makapunta ‘yung mga empleyado natin, makapasok, at makauwi. Importante makauwi kasi ‘pag mahirap ‘pag ma-stranded sila doon sa kanilang pinag-tatrabahuhan. So, that’s what we are watching now,” he added.

The President made these remarks in response to questions about the government’s preparations during the opening of the 2024 National Peace Consciousness Month and the Commemoration of the 28th Anniversary of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Malacañan.

President Marcos mentioned that the government is also prepared for the aftermath, noting that “all necessary elements” are already in place to support those who will be affected.

“As usual, nag-forward placement na tayo ng mga pangangailangan. We will just have to wait for the weather to see what it will do. Hopefully, umiwas sa atin. But even if it does not, we have all the elements in place to support our people na magiging – mahihirapan dahil nga dito sa naging Bagyong Enteng,” the President said.

“So, we are just watching it and we are trying to adjust,” he added.

President Marcos also noted that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is closely monitoring the weather conditions, with concerned government agencies providing regular updates. | PND

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday expressed gratitude to the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) for aiding the government in its anti-terrorism and anti-insurgency campaigns in Mindanao, leading to a more peaceful and stable region.

“I extend my gratitude to the men and women of the MNLF, under the leadership of Chair Nur Misuari and Chair Muslimin Sema, for your steadfast commitment as natural allies of this Administration and of course, as our brothers, [our partners], and sisters in peace,” President Marcos said during the opening in Malacañang of the National Peace Consciousness Month (NPCM) and the commemoration of the 28th anniversary of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement (FPA) with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) at the Malacañan Palace.

“Let me recognize your support in our anti-terrorism campaign, particularly in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, where insurgency was among its foremost concerns. We also acknowledge our international partners. We would not have progressed this far without your help, [without your] guidance,” he stated.

A more peaceful Mindanao has resulted in increased investments, which generated more employment and helped lower poverty incidence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the President said.

The President vowed to implement all signed peace agreements with various rebel groups throughout the country.

During his visit to Sulu last July, President Marcos praised government forces for successfully minimizing the threat posed by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and other enemies of the state in the province.

Congratulating the soldiers at the headquarters of the Army’s 11th Infantry Division (ID) in Camp Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu, the President acknowledged their hard work and sacrifices, saying, “You have worked hard to achieve this success… and have made many sacrifices so that we can now say that the capabilities of the ASG have been severely reduced.”

At the same time, the Chief Executive urged the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) not to be complacent, as the mission to completely eliminate the enemies of the government is not yet over.

With less than a year before the first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has urged the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and other stakeholders in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to ensure a successful conduct of the polls.

“I also call on the MNLF and other stakeholders of BARMM to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the 1st Bangsamoro Elections next year,” President Marcos said during the opening of the 2024 National Peace Consciousness Month and the Commemoration of the 28th Anniversary of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement with the MNLF on Monday in Malacañang.

“The forthcoming election is an important reminder not only of the democracy that empowers us to mold our destinies but also of the visionaries who paved the way for the freedom that we [all] relish today,” he added.

The first parliamentary elections in BARMM are set to be held in May 2025.

In his speech, the President extended his gratitude to the MNLF, under the leadership of Chair Nur Misuari and Chair Muslimin Sema, for their “steadfast commitment as natural allies of the administration.”

The Chief Executive also recognized the support of the MNLF in the government’s anti-terrorism campaign, particularly in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

He stressed that the MNLF, as well as international partners, can depend on the administration for the implementation of all signed peace agreements, ensuring security, inclusive progress, and stability not only in Mindanao but throughout the country.

President Marcos noted that the peace processes with former revolutionary organizations such as the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Cordillera Bodong Administration-Cordillera People’s Liberation Army, and the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa ng Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army/Alex Boncayao Brigade-Tabara Paduano Group – now known as KAPATIRAN – are now in the advanced stages of implementation.

“We are also implementing the Transformation Program, which aims to uplift the socio-economic conditions of MNLF combatants, [and] their families, and communities [as well]. In the spirit of convergence, I urge you to continue working with all stakeholders in the region towards accountable, transparent, and people-centered in governance in the [Region],” the President said.

“We are likewise encouraging you to engage in a [continuing] open and constructive [exchange and] dialogue with government instrumentalities to discuss the experiences and challenges of our people in Mindanao so that we can provide responsive policies [to serve you],” he added.

President Marcos said that as peace and understanding have now been firmly rooted in the communities, the country should focus on transformation towards a more inclusive, peaceful, and progressive society.

“For us to move forward as a strong, undivided nation, the government will continue to pursue a principled and peaceful resolution to internal armed conflicts, with neither blame nor surrender, but with dignity for all,” the President said.

“Together, let us build a more secure and dignified Bagong Pilipinas—where no one is neglected, where no one feels helpless, and most importantly, where no one lives in fear,” he added. | PND

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the personnel of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (250th PAW) that the government will take care of their health and well-being so they can efficiently carry out their mandate.

“Rest assured that this Administration is resolute to see that your health, well-being and wellness are taken care of so that you continue to carry out your duties efficiently,” President Marcos said during the 56th Founding Anniversary of the 250th PAW at the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Multi-purpose Gymnasium, Colonel Jesus Villamor Airbase, Pasay City.

“Let us continue to rise higher, reach further, dream bigger; let us ensure that the legacy you have built is not just remembered, but carried forward with pride and with purpose.”

The President also encouraged the personnel of the 250th PAW to reflect not just on what they have accomplished, but on what lies ahead, noting that it is not enough to rest on the laurels of past victories. He emphasized that the members of the command must look inward, examine their strengths and weaknesses, and commit to continuous improvement.

“Let us be reminded that it is not just our work that defines us, but also the depth of our commitment, the strength of our character, and the nobility of our cause,” he stressed.

The 250th PAW is one of the premier flying units of the PAF, mandated to provide air transport to the President, the First Family, visiting Heads of State, and other important personalities.

In April 1972, the unit was renamed the 7001st Presidential Airlift Squadron and was later upgraded to the 700th Special Mission Wing in December 1974 in light of its increasing personnel and air assets. It was designated the 250th PAW on July 16, 1986.

Among the 250th PAW’s accomplishments are the completion of 4,465 sorties, with 445 flights exclusively for the President, as well as achieving 8,416 accident-free flying hours.

The unit also supported humanitarian assistance and disaster response missions by ferrying the President and Cabinet officials to disaster-affected communities.

Additionally, the unit crafted the 250th PAW Operations Handbook aimed at enhancing its operational effectiveness and established the Defense Acquisition System Assessment Team for the Presidential Aircraft Acquisition Project to procure an aircraft that could support the President’s international and regional trips. | PND
