📍Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
This memorial hall was built in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the first president of the Republic of China. Work on the hall began in 1976, a year after President Chiang passed away. Design by C.C. Yang, who was also the architect for The Grand Hotel, the memorial hall is white with a blue roof, representing the dominant colors in the ROC flag; while the emblem of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) adorns the vaulted ceiling. A bronze statue of Chiang looks west symbolically to the Presidential Office Building and mainland China. The front plaza of the hall is also a major venue for democratic assemblies.

📍Taipei 101
The Taipei 101 tower in Taipei, Taiwan, was the world's tallest building from 2004 until 2010 when it was beaten out by Dubai's impressive Burj Khalifa. Regardless, Taipei 101 is still considered the tallest green building in the world for its innovative and energy-saving design.

📍Yehliu
Yehliu Geo-park features all sorts of strange-looking rocks. It is part of Datun Mountain that stretches out to the sea. Weathering, marine erosion, and crustal movement together created the world-renowned scenery of mushroom rocks, sea caves, tofu rocks, candle rocks, and giant’s kettles. Among all, Queen’s Head is the most representative landmark and check-in attraction in Yehliu.

📍Jiufen
Jiufen is a historic township in the mountainous north of Taiwan. Formerly a prosperous gold mining town, rather than become abandoned like many others, the picturesque town has maintained its place in local and international tourists’ itineraries. Featuring in animated films like Spirited Away have also helped Jiufen’s profile. An easy day trip from Taipei, Jiufen’s stunning heritage buildings, delicious local foods, bright lanterns, and delightfully snaking Old Street, make it a wonderful look into Taiwan’s past.

📍Shifen Old Street
Shifen Old Street is the largest and busiest old street on the Pingxi Railway line, famous for setting off lanterns into the sky, and for visiting the famous Shifen Waterfall nearby. Here one can enjoy delicious food, beautiful scenery, and learn about the mining history of the area. The sky lanterns have become a major environmental issue, but because of the allure to tourists the practice doesn't seem like it will end soon.

The Shifen Waterfall was mostly likely Taiwan’s most famous waterfall as it was seemingly very reachable from the major population centers (namely Taipei and Keelung).
