A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF HBP/ HYPERTENSION.
WHAT IS HIGH BLLOD PRESSURE??
A silent killer.
-STAGES OF HBP-
Normal: Below 120/80.
Elevated: 120 to 129/Less Than 80.
Stage 1 High Blood Pressure: 130 to 139/80 to 89.
Stage 2 High Blood Pressure: 140 and Above/90 and Above.
Hypertension Crisis: Higher Than 180/Higher Than 120.
WHAT VITAL ORGANS WOULD HYPERTENSION AFFECT THE MOST??
Unfortunately the vital organs that are affected, are the HEART, BRAIN, KIDNEY and ARTERIAL BLOOD VESSELS are the prime targets of this illness.
HOW DOES HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AFFECT THE HEART?
High blood pressure can damage your arteries by making them less elastic, which decreases the flow of blood and oxygen to your heart and cause heart disease.
Blood pressure can leads the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to burst or blocked. When blood vessels are narrowed it is difficult for our heart to pump blood and oxygen to our body.
If untreated, high blood pressure will make the heart work hard, fatigue, pressure on the walls of large blood vessels, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure etc.
In addition, decreased blood flow to the heart can cause: Chest pain, also called angina.
HOW DOES HYPERTENSION AFFECTS THE BRAIN.🤔
Specifically, high blood pressure affects the brain of the patient.
HBP causes small blood vessels in the brain to weaken and burst.
High blood pressure increases the risk of bleeding in the brain in patients.
If the blood flow to the brain is interrupted, ( blood vessels are thickened and narrowed) it will lead to a lack of blood to the brain. A person is at high risk of having a stroke, cerebral blood vessel rupture, cerebral hemorrhage and the most serious risk is death if not treated immediately.
HOW DOES IT AFFECT OUR KIDNEY?
The main job of the kidneys is to remove waste from the blood and return the cleaned blood back to the body. But if blood vessels are thicken, it is difficult for the kidney to filter or to do his job.
High blood pressure can thicken the vessel walls, causing narrowing of the blood vessels,the body's waste products will therefore stagnate in the blood.
This can cause kidney failure.
An acute kidney disease or failure may lead to a buildup of fluid in your lungs, which can cause shortness of breath, and chest pain, muscle weakness, permanent kidney damage and death.
HOW TO SURVIVE IF YOU HAVE KIDNEY FAILURE?
• Permanent dialysis
• Kidney transplant
HOW TO AVOID HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TO SPIKE?
* Lose weight
* Exercise regularly ( Jog, walking, yoga, deep breathing, meditate)
* Eat a healthy diet
* Reduce salt intake
* Limit alcohol or avoid if you can
* Quit smoking
* Get a good night's sleep
* Reduce stress/ avoid stress triggers
* Monitor your BP
* Get support from your family.
HOPE THIS HELPS! ❤️
