PNP URGES CHRISTMAS PARTYGOERS TO INCLUDE SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN PARTY PLANS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reminds the public anew of the minimum public health standards under the nationwide Alert Level 2 condition.

“The PNP’s priority this holiday season is to safeguard the peace and order situation in our country. And if there is a gathering of persons, I strongly advise everyone to follow the protocols set by the Health department,” PNP Chief, General Dionardo Carlos said.

Despite the easing of some restrictions in human movement and activities under Alert Level 2, the PNP still supports the call of the Department of Health to hold holiday parties online. This will ensure that everyone can be protected by not coming together so there will be less chances of a virus spread amid the threat of the Omicron variant.

Nevertheless, the PNP vows to strictly monitor public places where parties can transpire. If there is blatant violation of the health protocol, then the police personnel will take the necessary action against the party goers and establishment owners.

The PNP reminds the public of making it a habit to wear face mask especially in public areas and maintain physical distancing.

PNP PROBES UNIVERSITY SHOOTING IN MARAWI CITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is looking deeper into a shooting incident inside the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on December 2, 2021.

“We are alarmed by this act of violence displayed inside a campus. I have ordered the concerned police unit to resolve this case at the soonest possible time,” PNP Chief, General Dionardo Carlos said.

Report from Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office states that the student victim, a certain Aripodin Darayno Mamacuna,21, was walking inside campus when he noticed that a group of men were following him.

Thus, he proceeded to the MSU grandstand to hide himself, but was caught and beaten up. The other victims pacified the incident but were shot upon by the suspects.

An off duty PNP personnel, who was watching the awarding ceremony of a sport event at the grandstand, immediately responded to the incident that resulted to an exchange of gun fire hitting one of the suspect's arm and prompting them to run away from the place of incident.

Suspects were identified as: Macaraya Saripada Armama, Banjo Saripada, and Rakim Saripada — all are of legal age and residents of Barangay Rapasun, Marawi City.

While victims were identified as: Aripodin Darayno Mamacuna, Anwar Dimaodin Kiram,Mohaimen Batal Maba.

Quick response of Marawi City Police Station personnel led to the immediate identification of the suspects.

The PNP is still establishing the motive of the case, but likewise not discounting the possibility of a gang war.

If this may be the case, the PNP suggests strong parental supervision especially at this time when the younger members of the society are given the freedom to go outside where they can meet other influential persons that may put their lives at risk.

PNP PREPS FOR THE RESUMPTION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES IN NCR

The Philippine National Police is preparing to provide security to orderly and peaceful face-to-face classes in the National Capital Region.

As Department of Education (DEPED) green-lighted the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes in Metro Manila starting December 6, the PNP will focus attention to 28 schools in NCR that are being eyed by the Education department as the pioneering batch for the resumption of in-person classes.

“The PNP will secure a final list of the participating school so I can order the chiefs of police in those areas to plan for their deployment to ensure security in these school premises,” says PNP Chief Police General Dionardo B Carlos.

He noted that the Pangasinan incident where some police personnel was photographed inside a classroom with long fi****ms during the first day of physical class will serve as a lesson to remind the PNP personnel of the DEPED order.

“Schools are zones of peace and we will acknowledge that. Much has been done to orient our personnel regarding this policy,” Carlos clarifies.

PNP’s call is to keep students and other school stakeholders away from harm.

By doing so, police will only provide limited presence outside the school compounds except on emergencies when police assistance is sought by school authorities.

Press Statement of
POLICE GENERAL DIONARDO B CARLOS
Chief, Philippine National Police
Maguindanao Massacre of 2009

The Philippine National Police joins the nation in mournful commemoration of the death of 58 Filipinos in the infamous Maguindanao Massacre of 2009. We fervently pray for the eternal repose of the souls of the departed even as we continue to wage a nationwide campaign to stem the culture of politically-motivated violence.

On the 12th anniversary today of that most murderous act of violence committed in the history of Philippine elections, we take note of the fact that the PNP has been instrumental in serving the end of justice with the arrest of the accused held responsible for the death of 58 persons, among them 34 journalists, in this single incident of mass murder.

As the 2022 election season is now within sight, the PNP is taking early actions to foil attempts by warlord politicians to employ and mobilize private armed groups that will apply force to influence the outcome of the elections.

The PNP will be decisive as ever in seeking to disband and disarm these private armed groups. Simultaneous with interdiction operations, we will deny these PAGs the economic support systems that sustain its operations thru criminal activities such as robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, smuggling, illegal gambling, and other illegal ventures.

The PNP takes shelter under the authority bestowed by COMELEC as its deputized agency to meet head-on any and all threats to the May 2022 elections.

"Igorots" from Benguet-Tinguian* with their "chief" Ismael Alzate, a gobernadorcillo from Abra (in black). The decorated Alzate, who served as interpreter and was instrumental in gathering people from the Cordillera for the 1887 Philippine Exposition, presented himself as a defender of the region. He would eventually be killed by the same Igorots.

*Note: Benguet has a small population of Tinguians even to this day compared to Abra or Ilocos Sur. While the original Spanish caption says "Benguet-Tinguianes", it may not be discounted that the inscription might be referring to Bangued instead. Alzate being a leader of Abra may lay credence to this observation. For the meantime, the original caption remains for the sake of accuracy.
