Parliament Resumes tomorrow 17 November 2020. PNG is truly the land of the unexpected...

Speaker Job Pomat says the motion by Opposition leader Belden Namah to adjourn parliament is not right. Under the organic law and parliament standing order only a minister can adjourn parliament. Speaker Job Pomat says this means parliament is still in session and will continue tomorrow (Tuesday 17 November). In a media conference, he said after careful consideration and research he has found the motion moved by the Opposition leader Belden Namah to adjourn parliament to December, to be in breach of the Organic Law and parliament standing orders. Pomat says under sections 2 of the Organic law on the " calling of meetings of parliament" - only a minister can move a motion to have a parliament sitting adjourned.

He says for this week sitting will commence tomorrow at 2pm. More details to come on the News Bulletin.
