“Late Sir Rabbie was a silent Nation Builder.”- Ginson Saonu

MEDIA RELEASE

DATE: WEDNESDAY 5th APRIL 2023

The Late Sir Rabbie Namaliu has been described as humble achiever with roots deep within Pangu Pati ranks in the country.
This is how former Morobe Governor and former Pangu Pati Leader Ginson Goheyuc Saonu has described the late Prime Minister of the country.
Mr Saonu stated boldly that the Late Sir Rabbie has left a legacy of Leadership in the country with him being the first from the New Guinea Island Region to become a Pangu Pati Prime Minister back in 1992.

“The Late Sir Rabbie Namaliu formed Government back in 1992 through Pangu Pati winning majority of seats in the General Elections.”

This Mr Saonu said reflected the how Pangu Pati was dominant with Leaders like Sir Rabbie being the Party Leader and securing seats in the country’s elections back then.
“The people back then, admired his leadership and voted in a strong Pangu Pati Government, similar to the current Pangu Pati Government.”
“As the former Pangu Pati Leader back in 2019, I was tasked the privilege of bringing former Pangu Pati Leaders in the likes of Late Sir Rabbie Namaliu, Sir Pita Lus, Sir Michael Thomas Somare with other Pangu MPs all to Lae City to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Pangu Pati in the country.”

Mr Saonu said this described how he foresaw the importance of leaders in the ranks of Sir Rabbie Namaliu as silent yet active “Nation Builders.”

“The Late Sir Rabbie Namaliu was very active as well in the commercial business arena of the country with him being nominated on board membership of several organizations and entities.”
“The Pangu Pati leadership has come from all three (3) regions of the country with Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare ( Momase), Sir Rabbie Namaliu ( NGI) and now James Marape ( Highlands) with the next predicted leadership to come out from the Southern Region.”

Mr Saonu concluded that Pangu Pati is all about uniting PNG, Given this leadership must be shared through all four regions with three already taken by Pangu Prime Ministers therefore southern region is next to be given opportunity to lead the country.

K300 spot fine for betelnut imposed
March 10, 2023 by toksavebot
Post Courier Online |
MOROBE provincial administration is imposing a K300 spot fine for betelnut chewers and sellers in Lae.
Morobe provincial administration security supervisor Ezekiel Kabera said in an interview this week that careless betelnut spitting inside the provincial headquarter premises is an eyesore and betelnut chewers did not care where they spat.
He said they received a notice from the provincial administrator’s office to impose a spot fine of K300 on general public chewing betelnut or selling it inside the provincial administration premises and government offices. He said this spot fine also applies to public servants working at the provincial administration.
“We have been doing awareness since last month on this and we hope they take note of that because we will not show mercy or being lenient when this spot fine becomes effective by next week Monday onwards.
“It is not only betel nut chewing but throwing rubbish as well as selling of food, betelnut, smoke and other things,” he said.
Mr Kabera said police were informed and those caught refuse to pay the fine, they will be taken to the police station and charged.
Morobe provincial administrator Max Bruten in support of the Post-Courier Lae Campaign said he is expecting public servants and staff of the provincial government and its administration to adhere to public notices served within the government premises.
Mr Bruten said health of staff is very important and is urging his divisional heads to encourage healthy working environment and make the place safe for everyone.
He said whatever notices served within the government premises prohibiting certain activities such as selling of betel nuts, spitting or littering of ci******es, consumption of alcohol, including other unhealthy practices, must be considered.
“Our security officers are there to ensure public servants, staff and the public respect and adhere to this notice with directives and must be followed,” Mr Bruten said.

Sinai declares Iguan and Basa
Post Courier Online |
BY GORETHY KENNETH
CHIEF Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai has used his powers under special circumstances to declare Markham and Kabwum seats.
Sitting MPs Koni Iguan and Patrick Basa have been declared duly elected members for Markham and Kabwum respectively.
The office of the Chief Electoral Commission confirmed with Post Courier last night that Koni Iguan, Member elect for Markham’s writs and Patrick Basa, Member elect for Kabwum have been accepted yesterday.
The Markham Open Seat had only 31 ballot boxes counted with four remaining.
The four boxes were about to be inserted for counting when they were destroyed.
Iguan, a United Labour Party was leading with 4813 followed by female candidate Gengewe Ganzik, a PNg Party candidate with 2862 at the time the ballots were destroyed and burnt.
Morobe Election Manager Simon Soheke had reported a weeklong tension over disagreements with alleged irregularities in the electorates progressive results.
The seat was destined to be failed but yesterday Sinai accepted the writ and declared the incumbent Iguan the elected MP.
The same had been for the Kabwum Seat where Returning Officer Keteng Ondop reported the burning of the ballot boxes for that seat. At the time of the problem, Basa was initially leading.
His writ has also been returned to Sinai at PNGEC in Port Moresby and accepted yesterday.
