AIR Niugini's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gary Seddon, will be onboard the Boeing 737 that will fly the Pope Francis off to Dili, Timor-Leste
Mr Seddon says this is a momentous occasion for ANG & PNG, to have this privilege.
The Bishops of PNG & Solomon Islands are now saying their final farewell to the Pope, in a brief farewell ceremony.

THE Country now witnessed and Farewelled the departure of Holy Father POPE Francis today at the Jacksons Internation Airport, Port Moresby.
A 21-gun salute goes off well as the Pope boarded the Air Niugini, the PX Alpha, destined for Dili Airport, in the (East) Timor-Leste.
Pope Francis concluded his four days state visit in Papua New Guinea and will stay in the Timor-Leste for another days, before heading to Singapore and back to Vertican City, Rome, making it a successful 12-days Asia-Pacific visits.

Gates already opened at 2am, however with more than 35 000 people to attend the today’s main event (The Holy Mass), the ques have not shortened yet.
CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES, FAITHFULS MAKING THEIR WAY IN TO THE SIR JOHN GUISE STADIUM
THE Catholic and Christian faithfuls, families, and friends are making their way into the Sir John Guise Stadium to celebrate the Holy Mass with Pope Francis today.
The Holy Mass starts at 8 am and ends at around 11 am.
Christian communities in the NCD, neighbouring provinces, and others were here at early as 1am and started marching into the gates.
Gate opens at 2am and closes at 7am.
NATIONAL ST JOHN AMBULANCE HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISE FOR PEOPLE ATTENDING HOLY MASS TOMORROW (SUNDAY)
The gates to the Sir John Guise Stadium will be open as early as 2 am, for the Holy Mass on Sunday 8th September, 2024.
Considering the very early start, the National St John Ambulance has issued safety and health advise, to the thousands that will be attending the Holy Mass tomorrow.

In welcoming Pope Francis to Caritas Technical Secondary School this afternoon, Archbishop of Port Moresby, wished him good health first and foremost.
He says for many that are present today, this very occasion is a once in a life time opportunity.
Children from the Street Ministry, also presented a traditional item for the Pope and Pope Francis will now be presented with gifts.

YALU BRIDGE POSING THREAT TO TRAVELLING PUBLIC, COMMUTERS & LOCALS
WITH unprecedented weather currently experienced in the Morobe province is causing havoc and led to Yalu River burst its banks.
This now put the Yalu Brigde on the verge of collapsing, and it is under substantial threat again.
The main link, bridging the Highlands and Coasts to the Morobe’s capital, Lae is on the radar, despite temporary repairs and restorations efforts have been made by the Morobe Provincial Works department in the recent weeks, after the old bridge collapsed.
Morobe Police urged the general and travelling public, commuters and locals to take precautions when bypassing Yalu Bridge and Police also controlling the traffic and monitor the situation as the wet weather continue to affect most parts of the province and its neighbours.
