HAPPY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR, 2023 TO ALL THE 94 ILG CLANS OF MIDDLE RAMU BLOCK 3 FMA.

As we stand poised to usher out the old year and welcome the New Year, 2023, I'd like to thank you all the Landowners for your wonderful cooperation in 2022. We did well as a team, especially cooperating to register our traditional clans as Independent Land Groups. We also created NID for our individual clan officers, and most of all, we Negotiated a Down Stream Processing Project Agreement with the PNGFA, which will be sustainable and of a maximum benefit to Landowners.

Only 2 things more to complete before the project commences in March of 2023, which are, the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) and Project Agreement signing.
After that, we'll be truly on the path to Prosperity.

We can only continue to maintain that Prosperity if we can continue to work together to sustain and upgrade all the road network, bridges and other basic services infrastructures from the Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA project. We must continue to work together. You must make land available for the cocoa and the project shall pay you to plant and maintain your plot till you're ready to sell beans back to the project.
And that is through the planting of three (3) million cocoa seedlings, right across the project area and other neighboring parts of the district, who shares this vision.

If we use this timber project as the means to plant this massive plantation, surely the National government cannot ignore this area where cocoa is generating a massive revenue for them. The logging operations may cease, but the cocoa plantation will already be fully established. The FMA will generate the Agriculture Levy to kick start the plantation so we will never go wrong from there. Agriculture is the way forward for PNG and our district.

So I take this time to wish you all the Landowners, a very prosperous and happy new year, 2023!

If you're from Middle Ramu District and want it to change, share this post and make it go viral. Our 3 tiers of Government, Arabaka LLG, Middle Ramu District and the Madang Provincial Government needs to take notice.

Middle Ramu Block 2 and 3 Consolidated FMA may commence operations early January or February of next year. This Consolidated FMA alone will greatly impact on the development of Middle Ramu District.
The LLG President of Arabaka, Mr. Lalau Koramuga, The MP for Middle Ramu, Mr. Harwai Kamdaru and Madang Governor, Mr. Ramsey Pariwa, needs to pay attention to the calls from the Chairman of Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA, Mr. Robert Mukoi and talk about the project.
Your 5 year Development Plan needs to accomodate the Middle Ramu Block 2 and 3 Consolidated FMA Project Agreement to truly develop the area and the district as a whole.

From August 30th to the 23rd of September, Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA Landowners were involved in a massive ILG and NID Registration Exercise, funded by the PNGFA and organized by the Landowners themselves.
During that period, awareness by the Lands officers, led by Mr. Micah Merr, the Provincial Customary Lands Officer, Mr. Cedric Tumba, senior NFS Liaison officer, Mr. Joshua Kas, PNG Police Constabulary and Mr. Ray Aigi, participated with the Landowner Chairman, Mr. Robert Mukoi and his Committee members, Mr. Kingsford Ambai and Noel Makeng to carry out extensive awareness on the FMA and reason why this socio-mapping exercise is crucial to identify traditional landowning clans within RB3 FMA.
A total of 106 clans have been identified from last year and these clans were targeted to be registered as ILGs and their clan executives identified through the NID process and registered.

The Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA project was identified as a possible FMA project area in 2014 and due process to estimate the timber content through a Timber Inventory Survey in 2015.
Fast-forward to today, owners of the forest is already identified and will be ready to kick start the project in a couple of months.
This will mean, basic services infrastructures like Roads & Bridges, Health, Education, spin off businesses will soon materialize for the people of Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA.
This project is now deemed as the gateway to the rest of Middle Ramu District.
Let's all work together to embrace the agriculture spin off business that will form the sustainable livelihood of all infrastructures derived from the primary logging activity.
Middle Ramu Block 3 FMA is a first ever downstream processing project together with the sister project, Middle Ramu Block 2 FMA of Josepstaal LLG.

More to come.

WE MUST PROCESS OUR LOGS ONSHORE: PM MARAPE

Prime Minister, James Marape has reiterated that no new round log export licenses have been granted to foreign companies as of 2020.

He told Parliament today that by 2025 there must be no more round log exports.

PM Marape said this when answering questions from Ambunti-Drekikier MP, Johnson Wapunai, about round log exports by foreign companies.

“My Government has a clear policy view (on round log exports),” he said.

“There must be a time when we stop round log exports.

“We must process our logs in-country.

“That commitment still stands.

“When we came in, we said that from 2020 onwards, there will be more more issuance of licenses to new companies to export round logs.

“The only exception will be local companies, national companies, landowner companies, provincial government companies.

“That is the thinking of my Pangu Pati Government.”

PM Marape said all present license holders must work with Government to migrate into the downstream processing space.

He said he would give a full scorecard on the progress of this policy before the end of this Parliament in April.
