Madang’s Wanted Criminal Shot
Madang police have shot and wounded a wanted criminal involved in a series of notorious crimes in Madang and the neighbouring provinces.
He was shot yesterday, 31st of August. Police identified the criminal as 34-year-old, Allan Baso Todes from Madang and Morobe.
Police say he is responsible for committing several crimes and was in hiding since 2013.
Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said Todes is now nursing his wounds at Modilon hospital.
He will be charged when released from hospital.
Madang Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said according to police reports, the man had been involved in many piracy activities happening between Madang, Manus, Morobe and East Sepik provinces.
PPC Rubiang said Todes is part of a local gang group called, Palace Mentol Family (PMF) that conduct notorious crimes in Madang.
He said the crimes that they have committed include murder, armed robberies, wounding, serious assault, stealing of outboard motors, arson, car theft, burglaries, sea piracy, r**e, drug and fi****ms smuggling.
According to police, the criminal had escaped from Beon jail several times and at Jomba police station in Madang.
PPC Rubiang said that Todes was recently apprehended in Finschhafen in Morobe by the Mobile squad officers on 24th of January 2022 and was taken to Madang and detained in the cell then escaped on 2nd February 2022.
“I had also gathered brief from police officers that in 2013, Todes began his criminal activates in Madang. He was arrested for Namon Kaibar armed robbery and escaped from Jomba cell with other detainees,” PPC Rubiang said.
Police stated that while outside, Todes committed another robbery, and was arrested for Ela Enterprise armed robbery in 2016, where he served six months in Beon CS. He escaped during a work party at Beon in 2016.
He was on the run from 2016 to 2018 and in 2019, Todes surrendered after Bilia Island arson and murder.
From 2019 to 2022, Todes continued to commit a series of crimes in Madang until his shooting and capture.
