I saw a young boy this afternoon, a very hardworking who was checking the rubbish bin, collecting used cans and plastic bottles, and looking for anything useful. As we drove past him, my heart sank with deep sorrow. Something told me to pull over, so I told my partner to stop the car. I got out and called out to the boy, giving him the last change I had in my pocket.
I asked him if he went to school, and he said he left school in elementary due to a lack of fees. I asked if he wanted to work, and to my surprise, he eagerly said yes. However, he then hesitated and said, βmi no sawe lo read yaaβ (I donβt know how to read). I told him don't worry, I will help engage you with the Urban Youths Employment Project Phase II. I went back to the car to get an Urban Youth Application Form and helped him fill in all his necessary information.
I told him, βThis is your blessing. Probably God wanted me to help you. I believe in this because "Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see" I have helped many youths, and they have succeeded in their journeys. If they can do it, you can do it too.βWe rise by lifting others.β Nothing is impossible in Christ.β His face lit up, and he smiled as we chatted. I knew he was very happy as he went home.βGreatest gift you can give someone is your time, your attention, your love, and your concern.β
βGod sees the hearts of people who are really struggling. As I am typing this, I am in tears and feel blessed. ππ½ Thank you, Anutu. πβ
