The East New Britain Provincial Government through its Provincial Assembly passed more than 600million kina budget for its 2023 Fiscal year.
The 600.1million (618 107 790) kina budget was handed down today (06/02/23)by the Governor Michael Marum to the Provincial Assembly Members.
This year’s budget is an increase of 200 plus million kina compared to last year’s budget at 398.8million (398 802 618) kina.
With the theme “Fostering sustainable livelihoods at the wards through partnership for economic growth, Governor Marum says the 2023 budget strikes a balance between addressing the pressing needs of today and the critical investments needed for tomorrow.

The ENB Clash of Towns 2023 Series Winner was awarded to the Rabaul Ashes after defeating its rival the Kokopo Marlins on 14points -4points in the last match played yesterday at the Gold Spot Kalabon Stadium in Kokopo.
This year’s clash of towns series had three matches played.
The first match was played at the Gold Spot Stadium in Kokopo, the second match was played at the Rabaul Queens Park Oval on the Saturday 28th January 2023 while the last match was played yesterday at the Gold Spot Stadium in Kokopo.

ENB Famous Baining Fire Dance
The Baining Tribe in East New Britain Province are famously known as fire dancers to their sacred Fire Dance.
The Baining Fire Dance is a unique ceremonial dance performed at special occasions.
It may look dangerous and rather painful but the Baining people are famous for this in which tubuans with their masks dance through flames in a night time ritual perform to celebrate births and the passing of family members, as well as to invite young men into adulthood.
Yesterday Friday 3rd of January 2023, more than 200 tourists attended a fire dance ritual ceremony at the Gaulim Ward of Inland Baining LLG of Gazelle District in East New Britain Province.
The tour was facilitated by Melanesian Tourist Services.
The tourists were given a taste of fire as they were captivated by the fire dancers.
East New Britain Governor Michael Marum was also present to witness the show.

The Former Chief Executive Officer of Cocoa Board PNG the Late Boto Gaupu was described as the Champion in the Cocoa Industry in the country.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of Cocoa Board PNG Tony Vigil when paying his tribute to his former boss on Wednesday 18th January last week says during the invasion of Cocoa Pod Borer which had affected the Cocoa industry in the country, Late Mr Gaupu was the savior to the industry during his capacity as the CEO.
Mr Vigil says the Late Boto Gaupu restored back confidence to the industry and drive the industry to have come this far.
The Late Boto Gaupu served more than 30 years in Agriculture Sector under different senior positions serving both Provincial and National Government.
Late Gaupu clocked in over 20 years as the CEO of Cocoa Board PNG until mid last year when he decided to resign to contest the 2022 National Elections.

During the 2022 Christmas Festivities crossing over to New Year 2023, Raulai Seventh Day Adventist in Ward 4 of Matupit Island in Rabaul District of East New Britain Province hosted social games for youths.
With the intention of shifting youths focus away from engaging in illegal activities, the Church was able to deliver its initiative successfully ending on a high note.
The community together with church celebrated the festive season troubled free as anticipated by the church.

Japanese Rats Hole Tunnel
Raulai- Matupit 4|Rabaul District |East New Britain Province
Japanese Barge Tunnel located at the Karavi along the Kokopo Rabaul Road is one of the hottest tourism site in East New Britain Province.
The Barge Tunnel contains 5 submarines hidden inside the Tunnel by Japanese Soldiers during the World War 3 from the Allied Forces.
The Tunnel itself is about 369 miles long and was dug by the local Tolais who were taken as prisoners by the Japanese Soldiers during the war.
But how did these submarines ended up on the land? This is the question many of us have been asking.

Police in East New Britain Province held a special Parade at the Ralum Police Headquarters in Kokopo this morning to commence New Year’s Special Operation.
East New Britain Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Januarius Vosivai when speaking to his officers says this year 2022 was indeed a challenging year for them as a team.
He says many things unfolded in his Leadership, which includes the Change of Command, the 2022 NATEL Operation which saw deployment of more than 450 security personals, the long dry spell in the province, the retirement exercise reduce to 7%, the ongoing issue of run-down facilities and an increase involvement in crime in the province.
Vosivai says the ENB Police delivered a free, fair and safe National General Elections where every citizen exercised their democratic rights to vote freely.
PPC Vosivai says despite all these challenges, the team was able to thrive as individuals and collectively as an organization to carry out its job.
He also says despite limited resources the team was able to deliver the much-needed policing to the people of East New Britain.
PPC Vosivai says the security operation is already underway and it is their intent that the operation is conducted well and that the New Year is peaceful and violence free for East New Britain Province.

Pakia Coffee entered National Cupping Competition held in Lae in 2016 and competed amongst other 228 Coffee Groups in the country including 2 others from the Bainings in ENB.
Pakia Coffee was the only one out from the East New Britain Province team who've met all the competition requirements to compete with other Coffee Groups in the country.
After the competition Pakia Coffee won 3 Awards
1. Was the Best Aroma Chocolate Coffee in the Country
2. Best Coffee in New Guinea Islands Region
3. Best Coffee in East New Britain Province
