We take a look back to 2020 when Late Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare visited New Ireland Province upon the invitation of Governor Sir Julius Chan.
Sir Michael was in the Province as the Keynote speaker for the Grand Opening of the New Ireland Legislative Assembly which was officially opened on the 16th of September 2020 by Governor General Sir Bob Dadae.

First Secretary of the New Ireland Government Mr Robin Brown explaining to Students of Sacred Heart Primary the percentage breakdown of the Lihir Royalties and how the New Ireland Government used it to fund its policies including Free and Subsidized Education, Roof over heads, Ward level grants, Infrastructure projects and Institutional grants.
